Thank you Ed! You're a legend.

{Ed001's Note - I still need to figure out a format to use for it, as it was a bit rambling like that. But I thought better to just put something together and get the feedback. Then use that feedback to tweak it for the next one.}

Nothing at all needs to change mate. Simple, to the point and an honest perspective on a football match. Well worth a read and thanks for taking your time to do it mate. I was a bit disappointed with our shooting and I'll say shooting rather than finishing as that's what all we really had was shooting chances. Limmy 2 and firminos chance. But like you say why moan when you win ey.

Thanks very much Ed001. I was just looking at the season stats (maybe it's a bit early, but anyway) . Best defense in the league with only 6 goals let in. Second best attack in the league. Exactly the same situation as last year. It's a long way still, but I hope we make it to the finish line first.

{Ed001's Note - that is all that matter, where we finish the season.}

great review as usual. this format works fine as only notable plays or attributes of specific players are highlighted. hopefully this is more efficient and less exhaustive for you.

a few pointers for myself from this game:

1) i actually thought the team played well and should have won 2/ 3-0 by 70mins.

2) Mane. what a season he's having. keeping him fit and firing for this season is going to be so pivotal for us.

2) i haven't seen Leicester apart from this game but i fail to see anything special about them. they would do well to be in top-6 or even top-4 but i put it down to the quality of the teams vying for 3rd to 6th rather than being really and up and coming force that the media is making them out to be.

3) agree on the repeated fouls on Salah. I wonder if they will only call it when his arms gets ripped out? much more has been given to much lesser every single week. and the ridiculous sliding challenge on him? red all day.

4) the way the Leicester players reacted after Milner scored and at FT was really distasteful. I can understand their frustration at losing a game in the final min but to behave in that manner is disgraceful.

5) i've no idea what game BR or the pundits saw.
for BR, his team only had 1 shot on target, and that's from our defensive lapse and offered nothing else. how he feels that they deserved something out from the game i still can't figure out.

for the pundits, some of them keep insisting we've been playing poorly and getting away with it but i totally disagree. i actually think our performances this season has been better than what it was at the same stage last season. i would even go on to say that this year, we're playing with more belief as we've come to embrace how good we can be. not top form yet, but we keep getting the job done.

for shearer, who said that any contact in the box is a penalty, he needs to shut his trap to suggest that Mane 100% dived for it. for diving, he needs to look at Harry Kane.

6) let's hope the lads return healthy and give MU a good trashing at OT. then onto spurs for 19-win in a row and counting!

{Ed001's Note - cheers mate, yes it is much easier this way. It is pointless listening to pundits, they are only interested in stirring up controversy as they have no insight into the game. If they knew the game they would be coaching rather than sat in a studio talking crap.}

That was very good assessment and well put together. thank you. I also don't understand how Choudary tackle was not a red card . Salah is very lucky could have been a lot worse.

Hey Ed, Im heading to the airport, will have a nice read before my flight!
First I want to say thank you for doing that for the community, you are a good person!
Second, Ed you put yourself always first, so if you feel this is taking too much valubale time of your life and you can have a better use of your time, please take care of your self and do what you think is best for you and then think about us, saying that I am really thankfull of what you did for us and if someday, somehow I meat you I will give you a handshake and bow to you, the least I can do.

{Ed001's Note - I would die of embarrassment if you started bowing to me mate!!}

Great review ed.
Missed them.
All the points covered. I know it's time consuming, but when your reading instead of listening the points come across better.
If that makes sense.
Great tho.

{Ed001's Note - I understand that, I much prefer a real book to an audiobook for that same reason.}

'It is pointless listening to pundits, they are only interested in stirring up controversy as they have no insight into the game. If they knew the game they would be coaching rather than sat in a studio talking crap. '

Well, Gary Neville believed otherwise and tried his hand at management. The fact that he still got a pundit job is either madness or like you said, a role that requires no insight into the game.

For the sake of Utd, i just hope that they appoint him (GN) as sporting director so that he can tell the owners, board, and ole what to do. it'll be quite a sight to behold.

{Ed001's Note - that would be the perfect storm!}

Thanks ed.
I enjoy reading your analyses. On a lighter note 8 points ahead after 8 games correlates to LFC winning the league by 38 points (if only)! 😎.

{Ed001's Note - argh don't jinx us!}

Thanks Ed, cracking read as always. 8 point lead after 8 games isn’t too shabby. I’ll be honest in the heat of the moment my instinct was red however watching it again I think it’s just a tactical foul often carried out in the dying minutes. Luckily salah has two weeks to recover.
The little scuffle was a storm in a teacup, although Lallana seemed to be the one to spark it by getting the ball then the Leicester players lost their minds because one of their players had a brain fart in the dying minutes.

{Ed001's Note - it is not a tactical foul because he jumps into it. If he just tripped Salah, as he very easily could have done, that's a tactical foul and booking. However, when you jump into someone that is far worse as you are out of control and you usually end up with damage of some kind being done when you put your hip into it like he did. It is not like Choudhury doesn't have form for this either. Choudhury has gone in to wipe out Salah completely. The only question is whether there is excessive force, which to me is without question, as he didn't need to go in so hard to take him down. He has gone in to put him down and stop him running at their defence again.}

Haven't logged in or posted on here much over the years, very much a lurker! But I'm currently living in China so it can be hard to catch the games sometimes and these reviews are great so I appreciate the effort ed001! Cheers.

I’ll have to watch it again Ed I honestly thought it was last ditch to bring him down, maybe I was giving him the benefit as it doesn’t appear to be a serious injury and we got the win.
Also where did the notification tab go?

Great review, Ed. Brilliantly done. Sgynwa, I fully agree with your assessment regarding Shearer's opinion on the Mane penalty. The guy is a hypocrite of the highest level. His assessment on diving or divers or diving incidents seem to vary depending on the percieved diver. When Calvert-Lewin and his darling, Harry Kane dived vs LFC in the past, he said that "If they feel contact then they have a right to go down". Hmmm, I wonder why?

Now when Mane got kicked by Albrighton and fouled and went down (don't care if he made a meal of it as long as the foul is real), he said "football is a contact sport". The hypocrisy is deafening with this guy. As for Murphy, he just parrots the very same things Shearer does so the guy is not even allowed to think for himself. For me, it was a penalty and the ref gave it and VAR endorsed it. Case closed.

{Ed001's Note - cheers mate.}

Harry Kane gets lauded for his ‘game intelligence’ when he leaves a trailing leg to initiate contact he could easily have avoided, yet Mane is criticised for ‘making the most of it’ after being walloped on the back of his leg?

Yes he went down to ensure the ref had to make a decision, but the contact was from behind, and a forceful kick on manes standing leg without touching the ball, and so the foul was undeniable.

Any pundit that is debating the validity of the foul is a complete hypocrite. A foul is a foul regardless of what the player does afterwards.

perfect weekend achieved!
I like this format better ed1

Chourdary should have been shown a red imo. ya can't just be chopping players down like that. It was reckless, dangerous and took it above the threshold of a yellow card imo.

I thought we looked a little heavy legged. Not quite as sharp as usual, which I think led to some odd option taking and misplaced passes in the final third. Should have created more than we did. but the lively thing about football is that you only need the number of chances that you put away. And if they are enough to win, then that is all you need! Hindsight is a wonderful thing, but this "sloppy" victory is looking like an almighty 3 points after City's result.

Keep up the great work Klopp and co.

{Ed001's Note - cheers mate.}
