Dear Eds

Klopp made comments today about the proposed breakaway league. I wondered if there has been any further discussions between clubs or any advancement on this.?

Thanks.

{Ed002's Note - There is a meeting between the "elite" clubs to discuss it tomorrow morning.}

is he coming out against it because he knows we won't be one of the clubs chosen to participate.

Hi Ed002,

Are you able to confirm whether Liverpool are one of the "elite" clubs that will be attending tomorrow.

Many thanks.

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool will not be there.]

Aww we are not elite then😭😭😭😛.

Most likely the Manchester clubs and Chelsea.

Maybe another Champions League trophy might swing it! 😁.

Correct me if I'm wrong Ed but I believe Liverpool are not there by their own choice.

{Ed002's Note - No, that is not the reason.}

Ed2 is it we aren’t invited or have chosen not to attend?

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool are not part of the group.}

You can't have a new European league without the best team in Europe. We are not in the group as these discussions have been going on for years, when we were pretty useless.

If English teams win the finals again this year I would imagine there will be even more clamour for the new competition. A premier league with Celic and Rangers in would get better viewing figures than the new European league in my opinion.

Mark, clearly you can.

These are just discussions, by whatever criterea you use LFC will be invited to take part. Nike won't be paying £80m a year if we are not at the top table.

Who wants to see Juve v PSG evry few months? Take Ronaldo and Messi out of it in a few years and there is no point.

oh no have we not been invited to play in the Mitsubishi Shield break away league that'll be held in pre season 2079? Gutted.

Klopp clearly against it but is that his opinion or due to Liverpool not being at the group meeting? And please don’t tell me liverpool aren’t an elite club now though understand we have been in wilderness for many years but this competition can’t happen for a few years so I’d imagine we will be invited.

{Ed025's Note - im certain you will 1jj, but it will be the end of football as we know it mate, the gap between the have,s and have not,s will be even wider and the likes of bolton and bury now will be the southhapton,s and norwich,s in the future..

Ed25 I’m with you on this. If it was up to me all clubs would have a level playing field spending cap but sadly capitalism doesn’t work that way!

{Ed025's Note - your right 1jj..

Thanks ed2. Do you think that will ever change ie will we be invited in to the group or are we not interested?

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool are interested but there is no chance at this time.}

Klopp may not be in favour of it now, but when he's managing Bayern in the break away league in a few years, I'm sure he'll be singing a different tune.

I don’t think klopp will ever manage Bayern. He doesn’t really like them. It would kill his relationship with Dortmund. Can see him managing Germany one day though.

I definately can't see him at bayern and I doubt Germany too as he's often stated he's an all or nothing guy. I wouldn't think international part time commitment would appeal to him.

If he was to take another job I'd predict he'd want a similar project like Dortmund Liverpool. A club looking to get back on top after falling behind, with full control and backing to do it his way. I can't picture him going to a club already dominant and lacking that challenge he seems to love. He could have chose probably any club instead of us that time when we were far from appealing. He loves the passion and heart of football so a team within the mould of us and Dortmund would be my guess.

I hope it doesn't happen. I don't see the point of it (except in a financial way)
It makes the english and scottish leagues weaker. If wolves win the english league when all the top teams are gone, it takes away from the glory.

Is there a promotion/ relegation angle to it? There must be. Also, is it only European teams?

I think klopp is the next germany manager. If i worked for the german fa i would be working towards it.

And i imagine, after years managing at the top level of club football, especially in england where the press are crazy, that the international job would be quite appealing.

I see your logic Robbie but I just don't think klopps persona would make it appealing to him. Same with guardiola wouldn't seem like an international manager. It's a job that doesn't require the constant focus, dedication, obsession and commitment that klopp or pep both show as traits.

Couldn't see klopp taking on a job where he can't fully immerse himself on a regular basis. He's even said lately his work needs to be all in or nothing at all, no in between.

Listened to a mourinho interview lately where he said international offers don't appeal to him for the same reasons, . It's a job you see many veteran managers in 60s or 70s in charge as it's more suitable slow paced demands. Klopp still pretty young, full of energy and in his prime in regards of reputation as one of if not the worlds best manager. International role would be odd for his next move, maybe later in his career.
