Just wanted to say a huge Congrats to FC Brugge and Simon Mignolet for qualifying for the CL group stages. Hopefully we get them in our group cos tho he was not my fav. GK (he was poor overall, really), it would be cool to see him get a warm reception cos he did keep us in a tonne of games during his tenure.

I still haven't forgotten his brilliant pen. save vs Stoke on his debut at Anfield. I don't believe that 13/ 14 season happen w/ o that crucial save.

If we draw them on the plus note we can rest the front 3 for both games and play the tea ladies knowing they will bag a couple against him easily enough 😉.

Was a very good save tbf, but it also got him off the hook for having flapped at every cross that came into the box in the game up to that point. Kinda set the tone for Simon at Anfield.

Mignolet was poor for us no doubt, but let's remember most of his time at anfield he had a shambles of a defence in front of him! Model professional who was a good guy to have around the club and wish him the best in the group stages!

I’m glad to see Mignolet doing well for Brugge but let’s be honest if we had a better goalkeeper we would have won the league in 13/ 14. He regularly led the league in errors leading to goals and his save percentage was often amongst the worst in the league.

Tbf, Thunderbird, I don't think he cost us the title in 13/ 14. Anytime he made a mistake, he either got away with it (example: made a fairly bad one against Arsenal, but they somehow failed to score and we ended up winning 5-1), or we just outscored the opposition if he did cost us a goal.

It wasn't until next season that his errors started to cost us.

Thunderbird, there are a few reasons why we lost the PL in 13/ 14 BUT I lay the blame right on the doorstep of BR. He was to blame for his arrogance and utter incompetence on how to fix a defence. He literally said that fixing the defence did not interest him after a game. Go figure.
