Our hardest looking pl games are away to last years top 6 and City at home. Last year we won 1 agains't an undercooked Spurs, drew 5, lost 1. Scored only 5 goals in the 6 games.

The midfield was basically 3 from Fabs, Hendo, Gini, Milner. The same results this year in those games won't be good enough and for me that midfield will have to change. Someone has to really step up and take a midfield place. Keita, Ox, Lallana, Shaq. My money is on Keita I think a lot depends on him this season IMO.

Part year’s form in these games doesn’t really matter.

It’s a new season and we start again with a clean slate.

I do think we could have 5 percent improvement though from current players who have bedded in and gained experience.

Klopp knows what he is doing.

When we play close to our potential we can beat anybody.

We have a great team at LFC.

Bring it on.

Yeah I get what you're saying but also take the games as they were. When we played Chelsea away they were in great form at start of season, we played arsenal away when they were on a 12 game winning streak. At the time those draws were hard earned decent results. Old Trafford was the frustrating one to not nick the 3 points though. But we also won each of those games at home bar city. City got 4 points off us while we only took 1 from then. A hard fought away draw at the etihad would have been the difference. An away draw against direct rivals is a good result in general.

It seemed like the plan was to avoid defeat in those games, avoid other around us getting points - whilst hoping we nick a goal. I think it works well when we win most other games.

You can't go on last year results, as you don't know what will happen this year those results might be good enough, i would take 1 loss away from hone against top 6 every season.

Also interesting that fabinho wasn't played in spurs away, Chelsea away, city home and away. Think he only featured against arsenal when only finding his feet and at United. I always feel we lack some control when he doesn't play.

When it comes to the midfield Fabhino has to be the 1st name down as he allows the others to attack.

Off course those results might be good enough this season. All we needed to do last season was beat Everton or West ham away and we would have been League winners.

It's all subjective off course, but going on your theory from last year, we only need to pick up 2 points so either of the teams I mentioned would do.

Mark, your post lacks context at nearly all levels to the point of the absurd so allow me to help here.

When we played Arsenal away, that is a game we could easily have won had the ref not ruled Mane's goal offside OR had we taken our one on one chances with VVD and others. Also, Fab was still bedding in and struggled mightily in that game so in the end, a draw was a logical result cos they played well enuff to win as well.

When we played Chelsea, Salah was going thru a slump and it really affected our perf. In spite of that, we created a tonne of chances to win that game. Many will remember the worldie that Studge pulled out BUT forget the guilt-edged chances we should have taken way before that happened.

We played Utd away and indeed we could have gone for it abit more BUT really, with all the sudden injuries and changes that happened in that game on both sides, it did not bode well for us even tho, I thought we did not do enuff to win.
As for City, I thought it was an even game as City did not get a shot on target until the Aguero goal on the stroke of halftime. Also, we created the better chances and had Kompany gotten sent off (which he should have. IMO) and/ or Mane does not hit the post, we win that game.

So in the end, games turn for and against you in diff. ways and you sometimes and certain breaks can go your way or not so you blaming this, that or the other in a bid to slate our midfield for not doing what you want is poor thinking cos going on last season's games to project onto this season is pure lazy analysis, IMO. Klopp knows what he is doing so not arsed about last season BUT feel free to give him advice, tho.

Wasn't it against City that the ball looked to have crossed the goal line but goal line technology said it didn't? Pretty sure we lost that game by a single goal too.

{Ed001's Note - the key in that game was when Kompany viciously assaulted Salah and only got booked when it was the most blatant red card all season. Not even Fernandinho would have got away with that one.}

Oh god, i forgot that tackle, was super early, can't even remember if he got the yellow. People loved kompany that his consistent dirty tackles went under the radar. Probably in the same vein as how some of our fanbase still like suarez.

Our hardest games this season will be the ones we don’t turn up and perform in. For the fixtures when we are on our game we should realistically have too much for any opposition. The only thing we cannot counter for is silly individual mistakes that might cost us points regardless of how well we perform.

Redwolf you are all about the if's buts and maybe. We will need more goals and more points from those games if we are to win the PL. Whatever the circumstances in most of these games our midfield was out played.

The opposition midfield were getting MOTM agains't us.

Yet the season before (when we finished 4th) we had an amazing record against the top 6. It isn't just about that.

If we get everything else on song, we need to be looking to take points off City. If we'd have beaten them in either game last season, we'd have won the league.

It's that simple.

We have had our own share of luck too. Mahrez missed a late penalty at anfield, 90th min away to spurs mane chopped Kane down for a clear peno. We got 4 points instead of just 1, and prevented city from 3 points. So the kompany tackle, mane offside goal and other decisions get cancelled out over 38 game season. Every game is worth the same amount of points so any one of the 8 games we dropped points in would have been the difference. Our form against top6 was reasonable, we won our home ganes and didn't lose the away games, only the city games pickled us really.

Mark, so now you have admitted that the main point for your post was to slate our midfield in those games. Well, let me ask you. Had we picked the midfield you wanted, would that have stopped made the ref. do his job and send Kompany off? Would that have made Mane's shot go in off the post insted of off the post and out. Would that have made Fab play better vs Arsenal away while he was still in the bedding in stage? This is where your posts in general, are tedious to read. They lack any type of context or perspective. You seem to only be interested in whining about what we are not doing cos they don't fit what you want.

I posted facts on how each game panned out cos unlike you and your skewed analysis, I know that things can happen in games that you did not plan for and you have to use your best judgment in the moment esp. in close games vs City, Arsenal and Utd away where a decision going against you could impact the result which happened in both City and Arsenal games away from home BUT feel free to ignore all that cos clearly, that is not why you are here.

All you did was post the results of those games w/ o providing any context and circumstances that affected those games, which is dishonest in itself. The fact remains that your initial post lacks any type of context or perspective based on how things panned out in each game. That is your fault, not mine.

What? We got 6 from spurs
4 from Chelsea
4 from Arsenal
4 from Man Utd
1 from City

Apart from City that is a fantastic points haul from our direct rivals.

I hope we can just match it this season.
