The notion that the owners or Klopp aren’t spending because they feel that they don’t need to is ridiculous. If the right player or deal was available they would move. That’s literally all there is to it.

I for one can’t wait for this window to be over so the whining ends.

The whining will only begin if there's no signings mate. Mark my words on that.

There has been one. The lad is with the first team isn't he? Not 50mil though.

its been said that some of pour players are reaching their peak now.
there are a few who are on a decline and we should have replaced them.

25 Jul 2019 16:19:22
Well if the right player comes along and a deal is done then that would show that Klopp and the owners do need to spend. A bit contradictory Eamon.

25 Jul 2019 16:25:49
Which players are on a decline, Lallana and Clyne?

They were not even needed last season even if they were fit to play.

Trent replaced Clyne, and the club made signings of Ox and Keita for midfield.

Not sure what you are on about Deciptikon.

25 Jul 2019 16:30:15
It very much isn’t contradictory, if the right player isn’t there they should spend. If the player isn’t, they shouldn’t. We should be looking for improvements that make the most of our resources, that’s how you manage a club well. Otherwise you end up like Manchester United.

Who is on a decline yet? Milly? No way. Lallana i suppose. But in a big squad you're always going to have players who are in their 30s i suppose. I don't think 30 is old anymore. And many midfielders play their best football at 30.

I think the op is spot on. If the right deal is found, that would make us a stronger squad, we'd go for it. I don't think i've been very excited about many of the players we've been linked with this summer. Couthino maybe, but that was a nostalgia trip. We have moved on. We have come so far that we all said "pip had his chance he blew it" i haven't heard us talk about our squad like this since the 2006 team with alonso and gerrard, masch ect. I think this team has surpassed that group.

It may well be Milner’s last season with us plus it’s lallana’s last year of his contract. Nothing wrong a bit of forward planning.

9.) 25 Jul 2019
25 Jul 2019 17:41:49
Drogie planning forward when a player like Milner is still at Anfield?

Who do you want to take up Milners place at the moment seeing him sitting on the bench?

We are stacked in midfield.

10.) 25 Jul 2019
25 Jul 2019 18:37:02
Drogie, we will not be signing players just to make fans fell good about things. That will not happen under Klopp's leadership and people need to get over that cos Klopp has been here long enuff for people to know he won't do that so why whine about it? For then upteenth time if a player is out there and all conditions are there, we will move. Klopp and the Ed's have said so repeatedly yet we hear the same stuff all the time cos Klopp is not doing what some of us want. Good grief!

Milner is going nowhere this season and there is no rush to resign him (if he wants) cos well, even he does not know what he wants to do now but there will be ample time for that at season's end. So why should we replace him when he is still here? That makes very little logical sense, if any. He may decide to retire with us or leave if Leeds come up and he wants to go there or somewhere else. No one knows what he will do so why pre-empt the situation? Come on, man.

I think if Keita hadn't have had an unimpressive season as he did. Nobody would be that bothered about signings, it's that one area where he's not lived up to the hype.

Get your point regarding Fabhino Ed001 But I just don’t see where the goals are going to come from in midfield.
As much as I love Hendo, he often leaves his shooting boots in the locker, Gini scored a couple, Keita was hampered with injuries and we can’t rely on the Ox.

Too often last season saw the front 3 snuffed out, 7 draws, 3 o 4 of those 0-0 cost us the league. A few of those draws came around Christmas when the fixtures were piling up mate. We just didn’t have the squad depth to win games,

West Ham away was a prime example along with Leicester at home. I was at both those games and we were fortunate to come away with a draw, especially Leicester, we completely ran out of ideas in midfield.

Any other season, 3 or 4 years ago would have seen us romp the league but unfortunately we have City to contend with so for me, we need a bit more.

{Ed001's Note - so you don't think having Origi to call on as a sub rather than Sturridge will make a difference? Or Brewster?}

13.) 25 Jul 2019
25 Jul 2019 20:33:19
Whining? So what your saying is, is there's not one football player in the planet that could improve this squad? WOW! We will see what happens but sadly I'm resigned to another fruitless pursuit of the title to be honest.

14.) 25 Jul 2019
25 Jul 2019 20:40:36
Can you imagine this team with Gerrard, Masch, and Alonso as the midfield tho? Frightening.

25 Jul 2019 21:02:20
Sorry ed001 my post was a reply to you from max’s post, so many threads on transfers can’t keep up ha ha

I dunno Ed001, I think Origi is a great impact sub and I have watched a bit of Brewster, he looks a talent, the rough and tumble of the premier league is a different kettle off fish though. I’m really hoping Brewster will flourish playing along side the likes of Salah, Bobby and Manè, he does know where the goal is that’s for sure.

16.) 25 Jul 2019
25 Jul 2019 21:08:19
Max - you really think Lallana will be with us next season? So why not forward plan for a player that’s on the treatment table for most of the season? With regards to Milner I said it may well be his last season, his boyhood club is Leeds so you can’t rule him out leaving.

So yes, a bit of forward planning, especially in the case of Lallana.

Jesus we came second to the best squad I've seen in the prem by 1 PT, they are under investigation for their financial behaviour over the last few years, building that squad.

We were so far ahead of third it's crazy, we're in a good place.

Red Wolfe - Signing players to make the fans happy? Comment of the week mate, give us a break mate.

Just in case you’ve forgotten, we were 10 points clear of City on the 29th December, our squad just couldn’t cope, mate. I went to all the games over the Christmas/ New Year period, we ran simply short of ideas once the front 3 were nullified and at times they were.

We go into the new season with a home game against Norwich on the 9th, Chelsea in Istanbul on the 14th, saints away on the 17th, arsenal at home on the 24th

That’s a massive 15 days, it will be interesting to see how we fare so early on in the season, I just how we don’t lose any ground.

19.) 25 Jul 2019
25 Jul 2019 22:45:41
Drogie, I stopped reading your response when you started peddling the nonsense about us being ten points clear. That never happened at anytime last season (on equal games played) . Never! That baseless talking point is what rival fans use to taunt us and I can take that from a brainless drone of a rival fan BUT coming from you and LFC fan, it is even more pathetic.

Bottom line is this: We are interested in Max Cornet of Lyon (very good player that ripped city up in the CL last season) who will add cover to the attack and probably at AM. If that happens, then great. If it does not then I will ride with Klopp and this team till the end, like many of us did last season. If you are not happy about that then that is your business. Peace!

JK23, go read the first paragraph of my latest response to Drogie and you will see why I topped. N BTW, people are free to read or not read my posts for diff. reasons. That is not the reason we post comments on here at least not for me. We do it to lend a voice to the public discourse about our club. Peace and Love!

Lallana has never been a player we've needed to call upon for last 2 years, we had AOC season before last, keita this year. With both of them available at the same time we are instantly stronger with depth. Milner is invaluable with his experience and versatility. But his performance levels have stayed very high, if he continues in this way I'm sure another contract will be on the table for a year or 2 extension. If grujic can show his ability with s full season in bundesliga he is another option. Only 12 months ago many were calling for wiji hendo and Milner to be sold. Only look to replace a player who is declining when he is actually declining. Lallana for sure I expect this his last season, but he doesn't need any replacing.
