Question for the Eds if you're able. The preseason gives many fans a chance to see the youngsters play. There has been some talk that a few may have a future with the club (Brewster, maybe Lewis as LB cover) .

I know it's impossible to accurately predict how careers will progress, but I'm curious to know if there are any youngsters you feel confident will have some place with the first team in the future?

Thanks.

{Ed001's Note - not really any of them that stand out.}

I think that Brewster stands out and will play a role this season.

I think Brewster has something about him and that knack of being in the right place, at the right time, to bang in goals is something that will serve him well, particularly as an impact sub. He is the only one who really looks capable of functioning within some context of the first team - the others simply don't seem good enough.

You can't count him, he is already a first teamer.

Brewster not you cup of tea ed1.

{Ed001's Note - what? Why on earth would you say that? The lad is a first teamer, I am not going to count him I just said that.}

I think it highlights that whilst we have average back up, we won’t be able to mount a serious challenge for the domestic cups again this season.

Drogie, let's wait and see what happen asnd how things develop before drawing hasty conclusions during preseason. As for Brewster, it's still preseason hence, I have no opinion on him BUT I will say that the pen. he scored vs BVB was top drawer. That is how veteran pen. takers take their penalties. Bravo to him on that front, at least.

The idea that you need two world class players is a bit false in my view. Look at when United dominated with Ferguson, they didn’t have two world class players for each position, just decent capable replacements. That’s all. Looking at our squad it’s pretty good and in the best shape it’s been in for a long time.

Keepers
Alisson
Mignolet
Kelleher

Full backs
Alexander-Arnold
Robertson
Lewis
Clyne

Centre backs
VVD
Matip
Gomez
Lovren

Midfield
Henderson
Fab
Wijnaldum
Ox
Milner
Lallana

Forwards
Firmino
Origi
Brewster
Salah
Mane
Shaqiri
Wilson
Kent

And amongst that you have players like Milner and Fab who can cover more than one position.

Redwolf - Nothing hasty in my thoughts, Klopp has hinted there will be no major signings so it’ll be pretty much the same squad as last season. We were dumped out of the FA and league cup due to the lack of quality as back up.

ed001 what have you thought about Yasser Larouci? .
Looks like he has not done to bad for me, just watched the first half against Dortmund and looked good definitely could do the job Alberto Moreno did for us over the last few years.

{Ed001's Note - I don't watch friendlies so I have none.}

The team is great, but I'd over the moon with a back up Forward to push the front 3 and fill in when they're out. I can't see Divok being the guy, hope I'm wrong.

Drogie, I agree with you, squad isn't deep enough.

Lot depend on the draw Drogie, helps if you can stay away from teams like Chelsea and Wolves in the 1st round.

It’s not a criticism or a moan, it’s the hard truth. We have a fantastic first 11, best in years but unfortunately we are in competition with a brilliant City team with quality in depth.

What I will say though is that Klopp inherited a very average squad and has done well in the transfer market, where as Pep inherited a very good team and has kicked on form there.

Drogie, how do you know we won't do well in the Cups next season from where you are sitting? You have no proof of that. By the way, we got knocked out by Chelsea in the EFL in a game we dominated and had Studge had his shooting boots on, he could have had a hatrick.

As per Wolves in the FA Cup, we had selection issues and injuries (VVD pulled out, Hendo pulled out in the warmup and Lovs pulled up after 2 minutes) . The front three also needed a rest cos they had played all the games in the whole of Dec. If that is what you are using to determine how well we will do then your parameters are deeply flawed. Like I said, let's see what happens next season.
