Hi all,

I was thinking about the CL comeback against Barcelona and the performance of Origi and Shaq. They both were very rusty due to lack of game time throughout the season, so can t really blame them for it. I see Cornet has been linked to us as back up to the front three, but with him being 22 (younger than both Origi and Shaq), I don t see it being any better for us or for him, as he hasn’t gotten more than 1200 min for Lyon, doubt he ll get more with out front three, thus he ll spend a lot on the bench, losing whatever good form he might have.
I was thinking as a back-up to our front three, a more experienced and confident forward who s played for a big team should be the one. Although he hasn’t been the best performer for Chelsea as a starter, at his age less minutes might be what Willian needs, as he has the pace, the work rate and the ability to cut inside from both wings.

What are your thoughts reds and Eds, i d like to hear all of your opinions.

Have a good day,
Q.

the line "althought he hasn't been the best performer at chelsea" sums up why this wouldnt' work.

I get what you are saying Quaterrius but Cornett is of interest to us and Klopp so we need to trust his thoughts. I’m sure if he arrives Klopp will turn him into a better player. A more experienced forward like Pépé for example would cost crazy money and wouldn’t come as a back up player therefore meaning one needs to leave.

Think we need to accept that Cornett is s serious target and support it.

OP, Willian is 8 years older than Cornet, 6 years older than Orig and 4 older than Shaq so to me, getting him in at crazy wages while being on his last legs football-wise, makes very little sense on of football and business level. Cornet is only 22 has CL/ international experience with Lyon and the Ivory Coast and we all know that Klopp likes to work with younger, talented players so again, Willian would make no sense here, IMO.

Cornet is a very good player as I have watched him several times. He did not get a lot of game time last season and told the media that Lyon were ready to let him go. He a decent tally of goals and assists for one who was not playing a lot and did I also mention that he ripped City a new one in both CL games last season?

At 22, he is ripe for Klopp to work with and improve his game which I think, Klopp is keen on him and if Klopp likes what he has seen of him then he must be a good fit for us. Btw, he will not be the only other option for the front three as there is Shaq and Origi who can step in. Just my opinion.
