Is it just me or do people actually want to break their tv/ laptop when watching Steve Nicol give his 'expert opinion' on our squad?
According to him, our defense is incomplete unless we sign De ligt, Origi is a money grabbing bench warmer blah blah blah.
Didn't we have the best defense in Europe last season? And Origi is everything but a money grabber.
No disrespect to the guy coz he is a LFC legend but what a godawful pundit! Absolutely shocking!

The trick is to separate the player from the pundit.
The trouble is there are too many of them and the majority of them feel they have to stay relevant by being controversial just to get a reaction from the viewier, which in this case has clearly worked, sadly IB nicol is far from the worst out there, now that is truly shocking.
Think of it more in terms of comedy value, I always find that helps.

KK7 is spot on, unfortunately good insight is rarely 'shared' on social media. But say something controversial/ stupid/ inappropriate or have a click bait headline and it spreads like wildfire.
So to say relevant you need to say something controversial/ stupid/ inappropriate which is why I like this site, posters airing their views and ed's providing updates that have no hidden motive, I'm looking at you sky!

Nicol is a moron. No way to sugar coat it. Leave him to it.

I always wonder if these pundits are coached into saying many of the things they say, with the intention of spicing things up and making things interesting for viewers. Seems that way very often, to me.

It was danny mills 2 years ago "liverpool are no longer a big club" we've been in both ucl finals since. Keep the motivation coming millsy!

All pundits are ex players now, and what they did in the game seems to be more important than how well they can talk about it. They're not generally the smartest bunch.

Nicol - brilliant player, true legend of lfc, but awful pundit. Of course Origi is going to think about his future at this, the most important contract he has signed. He just won us the champions league and faces the prospect of warming the bench. If i was in his place id be thinking (and hoping the club are serious about keeping me)

He does have a point about the defence i suppose. But i think we all want to see gomez cement his spot. I don't think there's much in it between de ligt and gomez. Not 70mil difference.

Nicol is a complete plank. Has not got a clue. No wonder he was the butt of jokes between Hansen, Dalglish and Souness.

He's forgotten more about football then you'll ever know, so I'd say his opinion holds more water than ( no offence meant here) a few no marks on this website. Calling him a moron is laughable.

Nicol is the one eyed king in the land of the blind with the land of the blind being the U. S. He coached there in the MLS so he gets a fair account of credibility from them. Having said that, the guy has not got a clue and when he talks about certain players like Origi, his complete contempt and bias for said player comes out in full force. Personally, couldn't be bothered about what he says cos he like the rest of his buddies on ESPN FC, are just too incompetent for their own good.

Nicol also gets off talking about De Ligt like he is already the best CB in the world. The guy would be fourth choice CB at LFC but most of the clueless pundits cannot even see that.

Nicol has a poor knowledge of the current game for sure. Any former players ye like as underrated pundits? Personally I think bellamy and jenas have a good understanding, Richie sadlier from Ireland too I think is excellent.

The likes of Henry Owen shearer never provide strong insight and only their playing career gets them the top jobs.
