Apologies if this becomes a long post.

Few things that have baffled me on here with some.

1 - we need to replace Sturridge. We already did with origi. Sturridge was the go to man in the 1st half of the season. And was replaced as the go to man 2nd half of the season. So replaced 👍

2 - we need to add players or we are standing still. As I said origi will be called upon more. Shaqiri rarely got games towards xmas and beyond and has shown flashes of quality. Gomez was injured most of the season and was really standing out. Ox showd his qualities and is returning. Keita only really played a few games still needed to settle he will now. Brewster has great promise, But because he's young some want money spent. Thank God we didn't buy a 1st choice right back or we'd still be on 5. So that's origi, shaqiri, Gomez, ox, keita and Brewster 6 players who will add more to what we had Last season 👍

FSG apologist - sign me up for being that please. I'm loving a title fight, 2 CL finals 1 win the most expensive gk for a day and CB in world football. A front 3 who I'd keep over anyone else's. And Jurgen klopp. im pretty happy with their shoddy job. Call me crazy 👍.

Ox, Lallana, Origi, Keita and Gomez are not new players. injury prone but are not new and shouldn't be considered as replacements.
Like Brewster, 90% of these players are coming off a serious injury in which we have to wait for all barring Origi to get back to full fitness. Worse case scenario, they will be gradually bedded in giving them time to regain fitness. Which essentially means that strain will be put on the starting 11. By then, maybe title challenge may be over. ALL teams will be improving and we cannot consider players on our books as improvements.
Why is it hard to understand that we need to REFRESH the squad.
Further to that, placing hope in the youth to mount a title challenge is a high risk. It has taken TAA 2 years to get to this level. And not all the youngster's will develop into quality back up. Case in point Solanke.
Im not screaming marquee but what i am saying we need cover at fullbacks because Gomez is better at CB. Milner was exposed by Palace at Anfield last season because of his lack of pace.
Playing Gini, Milner and Henderson in the midfield has no creativity. Shaq can't play in a mid 3 so can't be considered.

you cannot just claim all those players are "injury prone" just as one example Gomez injury was due to impact so could happen to anyone.

Gomez has not not a single season without an injury. He is injury prone.

{Ed001's Note - bit harsh, not one player in the game will have had a season without an injury of some kind.}

being injured (no matter the cause) for 2 seasons in a row is injury prone.
im sure there are many LFC fans who are not confident that Gomez can complete a full season without being on the treatment table.
Lets forget about his quality. we need to consider his availability.
Are these players i mentioned above capable of playing 15-20 games in a row without breaking down or needing rest. If you the answer is no, then we cannot consider them a new.

{Ed001's Note - seriously that is nonsense. Embarrassing nonsense.}

The squad doesn't NEED refresh, you should only buy if you identify someone who strengthens a weakness. Second you buy for the sake of it, you end up with players either not good enough or with the wrong attitude.
Other teams are in a different scenario to us, if we don't buy I won't see it as a failure. I'd see it that the powers that be don't see anyone of value to add.
As an example Spurs bought no one last year, and got to their first CL final. Sometimes it cannot be underestimated how good it can be to have some continuity in the group.

lets hope that we don't end up like Spurs and fall off the title race like last season.

stop saying spurs got to the final signing no players. Liverpool are not Spurs we do not care about Spurs we're in the bracket above with the elite.

my point is buying players isn't a necessity to compete, we are in the strongest position I have witnessed as a fan of 20 odd years. And whilst I'd love to continue to see us strengthen, I don't want us to buy a player just appease some fans. Plus the AfCON is still on and players are on their holidays, just because we haven't bought yet doesn't mean we won't in the next four weeks.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion of course, but "FSG apologist" is a super biased stance driven by a highly personal agenda. Nothing to do with football.

I'll keep the date of this post and speak to you next may to remind you of it, but I'm sure your excuses then will be referee's cheating us and favouring the other teams in the league and VAR. Where you so ecstatic before last season with one Carling cup in the bag since 2010?

Lets see:

Milner - not a full back. no pace. If Leeds came up, he would have left. so the Eds say.
Lallana - hasn't played for 2 seasons. Will he get back to his best being 30+?
OX - came from Arsenal with a thick medical report.
Keita - yet to prove himself.
Brewster - untested and also coming off a lengthy injury. Are we hoping that his another Fowler and Owen?
Gomez - not a full back. also coming off a lengthy injury.
Origi - prior to Barcelona game, most wanted him sold. So he scores 3 important goals out of a 60 game season and now he is the right stuff. We need someone to scare the front 3 to perform at the highest level at all times. Origo doesn't do that for me. Best games he had in a red shirt was Southampton away (hattrick) and Everton at home couple seasons ago.
All this not needing to refresh is based on what? Are we hoping the front 3 will remain injury free.

Let me clear one thing up, im not advocating marquee signings. Im not expecting 5 new players. All im saying is that Robertson and TAA can't play every game and there is no player in the current squad that can replace our fullbacks for a sustained period.

and why are we looking for an AM if the current midfield squad doesn't need REFRESHING?

So you would splash out 80 mill plus for them to sit on the bench? Or even want to be a back up player or are you thinking bout your fifa team.

14.) 11 Jul 2019
11 Jul 2019 16:30:45
dont play games. deal with reality.
why are we looking at Cornet/ AM and a senior fullback if we don't need signings?
so there are only 80 million+ players playing football today?
you mean to tell me that our scouts can't unearth a gem?
If Lewis and the like were ready why are looking to loan them out?
We NEED signings because can you trust a team without Van Dijk, TAA, Robertson, the front 3 and Fabinho.

LISTEN! , spurs bought no one last season and they were worse for it losing 13 games they weren't that bad season before, this team need new additions only 2 or 3 if we don't we will not do as well, city have same squad but loads of creativity especially in midfield an they just bought cover for fernandinho that is strengthening a treble winning team in weak spots . We lost the league last season cos we weren't as good as city, one point yes but they had more than us an everyone knows it .

{Ed025's Note - i could not agree more hailstones..

Didnt say we don't need signings we won't splash out on big players like you want us to buy, eds have said we are looking to bring in players, still got weeks left to sign you are banging on like transfer window is closed, city wasnt that far ahead just 1game, start moaning when transfer window is closed and you are not happy with the squad.

My word, fancy being labelled injury prone because a bad tackle broke your leg. I've heard it all now. I suppose we'd better dip into that bottomless pit of money we've got and go buy a couple of £50m bench warmers.

Been there and done all that "take the date and name of the poster" stuff since the last 10 years I've been on here. Seen all the criticisms and the corresponding results of the club (whether it is on-field or off-field) in that same time period. The majority view will always be that there has been steady and regular improvement over the FSG years. In all areas of operation of the club. And that pace of improvement has been more rapid under Klopp, undeniably, whom FSG picked and empowered. Everything else is just insignificant noise in the wind.

The comment about Gomez being injury prone is ridiculous. The entire reason he missed so much of last season was because he was taken out by a horrific foul by that clogger Ben Mee.
