Hey Ed's

Remembering one of you telling the rest of us all transfers are done in euros that is the currency of football .
My question is do clubs sometimes wait on the exchange rate to change before exchanging money as in today's market I assume it could be the diffence of thousands .

{Ed002's Note - No.}

Cheers
It could be a future penny pinching technique. Heard it here 1st.

well if they wait they can either make few thousands or they may loose few thousands depending which way the exchange rate goes . Saying that I don't think many transfer fees are paid in one go, its a bit like a mortgage part of one or multiple credit agreements.

Most businesses look to hedge against rate fluctuations rather than speculate based on expected changes. The only exceptions would be banks that do this as a living.

Ed02 do clubs keep a certain amount in Euros in a bank account (say) as a hedge or do they not bother due to the effect on cash flow for example?

{Ed002's Note - It varies.}

They will hedge against currency movements separately to the timing of a transfer. General business for big multi currency organisations.
