Read this site everyday but not posted on here in ages. Trying to put a positive spin on what could be a negative situation, if Salah does leave who would be your no1 replacement? Think mine would be Mbappe, overrated according to some I know but from what I've seen the guy seems to have everything.

Right now we don't have to worry, he's going nowhere, next year though I expect the club to be looking at replacements. I'd have Mbappe but I feel it'll never happen.

Would love Mbappe but seems exceedingly unlikely - I’d also love to get HS Son or Sane from the PL, but guessing MC or Tottenham wouldn’t sell to us. Failing those then perhaps Insigne.

This always makes me cringe, mbappe is a pipe dream he will be earning money in line with the highest paid players in the world when he next signs a deal. If salah does go there are plenty of players we could look at Pepe, ascensio, dembele etc.

There's likely someone identified that none of us have even thought of, a la Fabinho.

Salah is not leaving this summer (again) .

Thing is Salah next summer he'd be 28,is anyone going to give us the fee we'd want for someone that age?

You mean like hazard? He is 28 and was in the last year of his contract, and deal could be worth £150m apparently (will probably never reach that amount though)

Hazard’s 28 and in the last year of his contract and Madrid paid a fee that could rise to £150m for him.

Just sayin’.

I’m with you den. Top players can make an average manager seem better, whereas a top manager can turn average players into superstars. I’d love to see M’bappe in a Liverpool shirt, but at the expense of what? That is just not how we are operating. I think we’ll just keep watching Klopp polishing those rough diamonds.

I think mbappe would be everyone's choice but sadly never going to happen. Its a pity we couldn't get him when he was leaving monaco. Madrid or barcelona bound next summer surely.

Not that i want to dwell to much on the thought of salah leaving but my choice would be to replace him with Jadon Sancho. Young, hungry, english and a very high ceiling potential wise.

He is all ready playing some solid football. Scary how good he could become.

If we lose salah next year for ridiculous amount we throw a load of it at Daniel Levy. For Son. He sells if the price is right.

Anything can happen though and i don't see salah leaving. I do think we'll sign a cb though. I love gomez, he could become one of the best british cbs ever. He has a bit of hansen in him. But, his injuries worry me. A lot. I wouldn't be surprised if our "marquee signing" were a cb. The guy at athletico maybe.

Mbappe would want to play for Liverpool if we get to another Champions League final. Mark my words if we keep getting to European final after final, every top player will want to come here no question. Even that little prat Neymar would want to. Everyone wants that trophy, everyone.

Surely the only team who can afford Salah is Juventus? Madrid have blown their load. PSG are already towing the line a bit too closely and probably need to sell to buy. Maybe I'm being hopeful though 😂

I'd want Dybala in a swap deal if Juve is the team though. I'd still like to add Fekir as well. Mane, Bobby, Fekir and Dybala would really be a fab 4 in some variation of a 4-2-3-1! All hard workers, all technically gifted, and all can score 15-20 a season. I don't think we'll replace Salah like for like so it's not worth trying.

16 Jun 2019 12:38:20
Hazard went for £88m. rising to £130m if he achieves what are probably a load of unachievable goals. And Madrid really WANTED Hazard whereas they're laughing at Mo's demands. its also worth remembering that L'pool would be looking for at LEAST £150m, probably more like £170m for a man that's won 2 golden boots and a player of the year in his 2 years with us.

Fantasy: Mbappe, Son, Sane, Sancho
Realistic: Pepe.

Sancho for me.

Zpecialone, Pepe is good but not great in my opinion. Very one footed, and very lazy. His first touch and movement is superb to be fair so he still scores plenty but he's also a bit lightweight. I'm not convinced he'd cope with the physicality of English football. I'd rather sign Cornet out of the more realistic options.

Sancho is no where near good enough at this time be starting rw for us. He’s a good player no doubt, but replacing salahs 20+ goals with 4/ 5 won’t works.

Firmane

12 goals and 14 assists ain't too shabby for a 19 year old. What could he do with better quality players around him.

With another full season at dortmund under his belt im prety sure sancho will be close to playing in any top side and not looking out of place. And still only 20 to 21 at that point.

Any top side that signs him will be getting quality in a position for 10 plus years.

Im not assuming liverpool will be after him but if salah were to leave we would certainly have the money to buy him. I think he would fit into our attacking play very well.

I really can't think of too many other options to replace salah next year as most of the canditates will likely move somewhere this season and then your paying well over the odds to get them when they are on big contracts with top sides.

Lets hope salah doesn't leave then its problem sorted!

Be a completely risky move, he looks a good player with great potential. But possibly spending over 100 million on a teenager with 1 season under his belt and expectations on him to replace the leagues top scorer the last 2 seasons. He offers a very different version to salah too. Salah is an explosive inside forward with the goalscoring expectations of a striker. Sancho is more of a winger who wouldn't have that same approach as salah, he's right footed and is a great creator of goals . But that's a big change I think, our front 3 have a perfect balance. Sancho can't attack the 6 yard box like salah or mane do. Sanchos game be better suited with a natural no.9 clinical goalscorer that he can feed and play off. Firminos roaming positions would lose its main use, Trent wouldn't have those areas of space either. I just don't see sancho as that inside forward type player. Too expensive at that age to risk.

Salah was busy scoring a grand total of 4 goals in the highly competitive Egyptian league when he was Sancho's age. I think Sancho can be whatever he wants to be, and will soon be playing for one of the worlds great teams. He'll also be walking in2 that England starting line up aswell next season.

That's a completely laughable point Little Naby. At 19 Chris Smalling was winning Premier League titles with Manchester United and Virgil Van Dijk was fighting in mid table with Groningen.

So by your logic Smalling should be miles better than Van Dijk because he was a better player at 19. Players develop at different rates. There should be caution when it comes to forking out over £100m on a teenager. One major knee injury and he could never be the same again. One bad season and he may never recover mentally. It's real football, not football manager. Wonderkids can tail off and kids who are written off can go on to surpass players once considered far superior.

16 Jun 2019 18:42:29
No, but my point that Sancho is probably the most exciting young talent in world football at the moment bar Mbappe. He will be one of the main men of the next five to ten years no question. My point was to show how unbelievably well he's done for a kid who only turned 19 a few weeks before the season ended. His ceiling is absolutely huge, as anyone with an eye can see.

24.) 16 Jun 2019
16 Jun 2019 18:44:05
I'd usually agree about spending huge money on young players but sometimes its just plainly obvious a kid is special.

Yeah a great potential but not 100mil leaves a lot of room for error. Gotze, lamela, depay, el sharaahy, pato, bojan, balotelli, dolberg now Felix and sancho. All hitting similar figures in their teens too, doesn't guarantee 100mill spend be a non risk, could turn into a complete waste of money.

You can't guarantee in any way possible he's a success for next 5 years. There's a huge percentage of these golden boys produced yearly who drop off. I remember Ricky van wolfswinkel, probably scored 50 goals in his teens, Martin odegaard was going to be greatest midfielder in history, freddy adu was guaranteed to match pele standards. Ganso the next kaka. Renato Sanchez could never fail. Fact is sancho has shown nothing yet to suggest he might be different to many others. De bruyne, the 2 silvas. Our front 3, van dijk, kompany, robbo, kante, Kane, son, . World class premier league players now who were never being hyped as teens. At 21 Gareth bale was in similar situation to luke Shaw. 2 or 3 years later real Madrid were breaking the record fee for him. Nothing can be predicted as easy as you think.
