Any ideas where Buffon is going eds
Also do you know if Liverpool have any plans to fit a big Screen in the ground. Most clubs have them surly it wouldn’t be that hard for us to put a couple in especially with VAR coming in. ?

{Ed002's Note - Try the European pages - it is nothing whatsoever to do with Liverpool.}

Thanks very much Ed. Hope you have a good day mate.

Longthing, going on that piece of text mate, it wouldn't surprise me in the least if Liverpool were to bring in a big screen.

Thanks Ed001.

This line resonated the most with me:

"Legendary Italian goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon has been released by PSG".

Get him!

Simple as that!

2nd GK issue fixed by someone who has been first choice so recently at an elite team and coaching of youngsters fixed too.

Of course, that's if Buffon is willing to play less games this season, but I for one would NOT be worried, if Alisson were unfortunate enough to suffer injury or suspension, with Buffon between the sticks.

He may have higher pay requirements that someone like David Marshall, but he would be a free agent and so, so good!

Is this realistic in your view Tris, and would you be keen?

{Ed001's Note - why? He has been finished for 5 years. No thanks. He was at fault for goals almost every time he played for PSG.}

Agree with Ed001 it was painful to watch such an amazing goalkeeper and person. Be so poor almost every time I watched him for PSG.

Ah Ok, I haven’t seen his performances of late so if he’s dropped off, that’s a shame.

Would be a great GK coach though, as he was one of the first sweeper keepers.

{Ed002's Note - How can you claim he would be a great coach?}

I can't, Ed002, probably worded it incorrectly.

Given him being a pioneer of sorts to the style of goalkeeping that a lot of current clubs (including us and City) are favouring, his experience in coaching younger players to play in a similar style could be great.

Of course he may be completely unsuited to coaching and a better coach maybe someone who may never have played to a high level (which I guess is your point? ) .

Still, if had the right approach, mentality and interest to coach, then he would certainly command the respect of the players more given his own stellar career.

He was the reason they got knocked out?

I'm pretty sure VAR And the fact half the team was missing was the reason they got knocked out.

Zed, I think you remember Buffon a lot differently than the rest of us regarding his performances for PSG this season. He is WAY past his prime and was dreadful this season esp. in the CL where he was just getting beat at the near post for fun. "Get him"? For what? So he can further regress for us? Nope, I'll pass. Next!

Buffon either needs to hang up his gloves, or try his hand at Player/ Manager for an Italian second tier team on the up.

He'd still be a good keeper at that level, and his reputation would help him demand the respect of his squad. Whether he has that in mind, or even wants to go into management, I don't know. His days as a keeper at top level are long over, and I don't think he'd want to simply extend his career dropping down the leagues.
