There was a debate on here yesterday about Firmino. The general consensus among those who want/ would replace him was that he didn't score enough goals. In their defence, he did only score 12 which looks fairly average on its own.

Well anyway I looked into it and Firmino may not score as many but he seems to have a penchant for influencing results with his goals/ assists.

Most points earned by goals/ assists; Salah (19), Firmino (14), Mane (13), Milner (8), Shaqiri (7), Robbo (6), Origi (4), Arnold (3), Keita (2), Virgil (2), Hendo (2), Wijnaldum (2), Sturridge (2).

Take it with a pinch of salt because goals/ assists are not the be all and end all. Alisson was probably worth as much points as Salah! Plus, this doesn't include things like opening goals or equalisers which can be game changing moments even if you go on to win by several goals. Still, I found it interesting!

Bobby firmino is a super star. No, he doesn't always score 25+ goals a season. But if you haven't worked out why he is klopps first choice then i can't really explain it to you. He is 3 players in 1.

With all due respect, Plain Bread, statistics are not necessary. Just watch Firmino play and his contributions speak for themselves. Whether he scores 5 goals or 25 goals a season is irrelevant. First name on the team sheet for me.

Agreed like a virgil. Along with big v he is the first name on the team sheet. The good news is we can still beat teams like Barcelona 4 0 without him. But he is such an asset. Strength, skill and vision. Not to mention work ethic. My favourite player. When he is playing between an in form mane and salah, some of the flicks and slide rule passes are incredible. Not many (if any) that i would swap him for.

And with his defensive work I reckon he’s worth 1 or 2 less goals conceded. I wouldn’t swap him for the world, tailor made for the way we play.

2 out of our 3 strikers score 20+ goals a season, don't think we need to worry if the other is contributing 10-15, regardless of everything else he brings to the team.

Are you lot seriously saying Firmino is more important than Salah, Mane or Allison? Do me a favour.

I don't know how anyone can criticize Bobby.

Yes mark just as important or maybe even more as Firmino is the link man without him I don't think Salah or Mane would put up the numbers they do.

Spot on george. that's it in a nutshell. They score so many coz bobby is working his socks off to win the ball back, get physical with a big centre back, play cute passes that create goals. And the occasional bit of genius or the odd Brazilian wonder goal.

And we're not talking about a lemon, this guy still gets double figures every season, scores with his eyes closed and is generally brilliant in europe.

Glad to see more people recognising what Firmino brings to the TEAM! he's quality and by far imo the most important attacker we've got.

Firmino is just as important if not more important in my opinion to what Klopp wants the players to do in attack. Anyone who can't see what he brings to the team clearly does not understand the way we play. Firmino may not be getting 20+ goals every season but he has consistently gotten 10-15 goals, important goals at that, he also creates the space and gives the assists to others in the team. We scored 89 goals this season in the PL, 5 more than last season, we clearly are doing something right in attack. Trust in Firmino, trust in Klopp.

no one is counting how many goals Henderson or Wijnaldum scored from midfield. Bobby gives us so much more than just goals. A true world class footballer anybody who does not appreciate how good he is does not understand football at all. Any off the big teams in world football would be Knocking paisley gates down if they could have him. And he could easily score 20+ goals a season if he was more selfish like Mo but he is not that sort of player. the grass is not all ways greener.
YNWA.

Look at Coutinho when he played alongside a selfless player in bobby compared to Coutinho now 👍.

Great to see so much support for Bobby. I completely agree with most replies. It says it all for me that Bobby's best assets aren't even related to his goalscoring, and yet he still scored so many crucial, point earning goals!

This is absolutely ott on Firmino.

Everyone on this thread is saying Firmino is more important that Salah or Mane.

If Firmino had started v Barcelona instead of Mane IMO we would not have qualified. Salah went off in the final look what happened. If Salah and Mane play they still score brilliant goals and win games when Firmino doesn't play. Firmino had a poor season but LFC had a very very good season.

The only thing I agree with is when Firmino plays well he makes the team better that is a fact. But he didn't play well very often this season and to claim he is more important than Salah or Mane is crazy.

In the final would you choose
Mane Salah of course 100%
Firmino and Mane as last year
or Salah Firmino.

Mark mate,
I think Bobby pulls the team together. more so when he plays well. he is the engine in this team.
Mo. And Mane have been great this year, and I agree Bobby hasn’t been at his best.
Imagine what they can do when they are all on fire?

Ask Klopp what he thinks about Bobby!

When Bobby is fit Bobby plays.

When I look back at the season, one game that stands out was the United draw at OT. After 20 mins I thought we were going to smash them. When Bobby went off, we lost our way. Most important attacker hands down for me.

19.) 26 May 2019
26 May 2019 20:12:40
Mark, you make some good points. But I think hands down we play our best when Bobby is on it.

I agree with that Redf when Bobby is on it like many games in 2017/ 18 he made the team play better. But he hardly ever reached that level this season and the team was better.

Tommy I am certain if Klopp had to leave out one of the 3 in the final it would be Bobby.

Phooey - I can't wait to see that. All playing well at the same time, we would clean up.

Mark, for me there's no doubt we played better attacking wise season before last and Bobby had a much better year too. This year we were much more solid defensively. I'd like to see us combine the two next year.

I wouldn’t replace any of our front three with anyone in the world, all 3 are amazing in their own right but they are made even greater by the telepathic relationship they seem to have, they are greater than the sum of their parts.
Only replace if one wants to leave.

I think it's bad judgement when people call bobby poor this season. Even in his quieter games he offers much more than many notice if watching on tv. He drags players out of positions and stretches defences. He's very smart and selfless in creating spaces. When we played 4231 he was a little lost in that no.10 role. When he's played at centre of our front 3 he's been as excellent as always. I remember that United game we lost all our fluidity when he went off, he came on HT when we were losing to Burnley and turned the game, same with PSG start of season. Went a goal down to arsenal and he grabbed the game by the horns with his hat trick. His impact to each gane deserves more appreciation.

Please don't shoot me down. I love firmino and his ball retention is first class. I do notice when deep with the ball he sometimes dithers and we lose possession more with him.

Bobby has scored some MASSIVE goals this season he is AS important as mane and salah, no doubt what so ever.

You can't say what would've happened had bobby played at anfield against barca. No one will ever know. But i know i hope he's ready for the final.
