Very interesting read. Who do you think will go on to be the best player?

Do you think part of the fitness issue is the league? Most of the time, they only need to be at full pace for an hour tops, meaning they can sit off and control the game, or in fact just control the game from minute one.

I do agree about De Ligt though, nowadays, being in the ball (not even that good on the ball) makes people think he’s a good defender. Happened to Harry maguire - makes one run through the middle and everyone forgets he can’t defend unless it’s on his swede.

To me, they were a team playing with no fear, energy and had No pressure of expectation.

I like to think I coined the phrase ‘Celtic sydrome’ - this is completely made up, but I believe it is a thing. Basically it’s where an average team dominate their league, so have the confidence to play attacking football, and beat teams they shouldn’t really. They have belief that they can win games, and score goals. Their players may be no better than Huddersfield (referring to Celtic here) but they play with the confidence and believe they are better. Ajax, are probably on a similar level skill wise to say palace or West Ham.

Great article Ed01, it is so difficult to know the real potential of these players. The dutch league is not that strong.
I know some people rave about De ligt but his lack of pace would be exposed in the premier league. David Neres is the player I could see Klopp being interested in.
Thanks.

{Ed001's Note - Mazraoui is the one he has been looking at.}

Great write up thanks. I agree that certain players might be best staying for another year or so. De jong and De ligt will be under huge pressure at Barcelona straight away and they will need to step up to that. Both seem very sensible lads for their age though.

I like their RB too and I think ziyech is at the age now to make the step into a top league, . The rest should stay put, David neres, van de beek, tagliafico need more improvement I feel.

Could you add a review of ten Hag to the list please ed? Seems an exciting manager.

{Ed001's Note - yes mate added.}

Cheers Ed, excellent write up. I have the same thoughts as you regarding De Ligt, LFC fans on some of the forums are obsessed and are praying we sign him. When I pointed out that Gomez is currently a much better CB, should have seen the stick I got! Thanks again for the analysis.

{Ed001's Note - I agree completely with you. Personally I think de Jong is a potentially better CB.}
