Interesting comparison.

Couldn't the Ake stats be linked to the fact that Bournemouth under Howe play quite expansive football, so defenders need to defend. Whereas someone like Leicester (at least until Rodgers arrived) were more set up to defend so someone like Maguire will have defensive midfielders ahead of him to help shoulder the load?

Don't get me wrong, I rate Ake more highly than Maguire, and Alderweireld more highly than both (haven't seen enough of the other two), but the stats you've used to arrive at your conclusion may be a little too one dimensional.

I don't rate Ake at all, Zed. He according to the Ed, does not even like playing at CB as he wants to play in midfield, really. At B'mouth, he is simply poor. Lacks positional sense, gets caught out of position and is poor in one on one situations. Ake is good on the ball and all that BUT that's about it. As for stats, they mean nothing to me. I go by what I can see and IMO, I have watched Ake enuff to see that he is dreadful.

If United really want to get back to the top level, koulibaly and alderwield are the only options out of that 5. Ake and Maguire not good enough in my opinion.

I actually haven't watched romagnoli more than a couple of times so not really sure what his standard is.

Currently the number of world class CBs around is very low in terms of actual defending ability. Makes me grateful with VVD and gomez that we don't need to focus on that.

I hope you get maguire and ake! Ake is surely bound to block more shots, purely because Bournemouth probably face more shots that Napoli/ Milan/ spurs do.
