Bring on the charity sheld 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻.

1.) 18 May 2019
18 May 2019 18:59:16
It’s not a trophy though Longthing, sighs.

{Ed002's Note - Right, but it is still better to win the game than not.}

2.) 18 May 2019
18 May 2019 19:03:30
run to the line, smash it across goal, tap in Back post.
Will the prem click onto peps tactics next season? Or just keep letting it happen 😂.

3.) 18 May 2019
18 May 2019 19:27:28
Winning it means nothing, though maybe beating city might jar them mentally before the season kicks off.

{Ed002's Note - It is interesting to see the Liverpool supporters writing off every opportunity to win something as “it means nothing” - the Premier League was only last week; this week the Charity Shield. Thank goodness you are not embarrassing yourselves.}

4.) 18 May 2019
18 May 2019 19:27:56
Got to be honest, never thought I would see a cup final where a team went out trying to keep the score down rather than to actually win it. When Milwall were in the Championship and played that all conquering United team in the early 2000s they played better than that. This rolling over to City is now an epidemic in football in this country. Aside from a couple of teams that never got the memo of course.

5.) 18 May 2019
18 May 2019 19:41:44
It may not be in the top three but I'd love to win the community shield, whatever the outcome of the CL it is potentially another trophy in the cabinet. If you want the winning mentality you go for everything, success breeds success!

{Ed025's Note - wow just wow, your desperation for silverware knows no bounds WYred.... i hear they are looking for teams in the zingari league 2nd division next season mate...mind you you would probably finish runners up in that.. :)

6.) 18 May 2019
18 May 2019 19:42:18
LFC never got the memo Kim we never attacked them in either game, so if we didn't how can you expect the others teams to. If we want to beat City we need to do it on the pitch in the league.

7.) 18 May 2019
18 May 2019 19:49:31
I agree with Ed02 completely on this. I can't believe that some people are downplaying this opportunity to send a clear message early. I hope we take it seriously because I'm sure City will.

{Ed025's Note - but if city beat you in that as well they get to keep you stone.. :)

8.) 18 May 2019
18 May 2019 19:49:27
Ed002, not being funny but if Liverpool won it and celebrated, you’d be the first to tell us it’s not a proper trophy and Koop has so far failed to deliver a proper trophy! Most fans around the country don’t care one iota about the charity shield but somehow you’ve managed to twist this and use it as a stick to beat us Liverpool fans with!

{Ed002's Note - Really - where have I ever suggested such a thing? If Liverpool have so little respect for the game - perhaps they should back out of it completely - particularly given the assumption that none of the so called fans will show up because they don’t care one iota. I believe “laughing stock” is appropriate.}

9.) 18 May 2019
18 May 2019 20:11:22
A trophy is a trophy try and win them all lad's.

{Ed025's Note - i can go in the loft and get a few of mine for you if you want barry.. :)

10.) 18 May 2019
18 May 2019 20:18:49
I'd rather be playing in the community shield than not Ed025. I see it as a tremendous opportunity and as a reward for the previoius season. Maybe I'm too old fashioned.

{Ed025's Note - i see it more of a fun thing than a serious trophy opportunity stone, a nice day out though mate..

11.) 18 May 2019
18 May 2019 20:20:42
Disagree JK. I don't think Ed02 would bash us for celebrating winning the community shield and if he or anyone else did, so what? We should always want to play in the Community Shield.

{Ed025's Note - if you had won the prem or the FA cup then i would agree stone, your entering through the back door taints it a bit for me mate..

12.) 18 May 2019
18 May 2019 20:22:09
Ed025, you're the last person I thought would downplay the significance of the Community Shield. I'm really surprised at your view of this.

{Ed025's Note - i honestly dont see the point in it stone, when it was the charity shield and the money went to good causes (i dont know if thats still the case) then i suppose i could tolerate it, but its a non event for me mate..

13.) 18 May 2019
18 May 2019 20:25:46
Ooh ed025 you're after a bite, and you’ve got one haha. Maybe love though was a strong word, but I’m a firm believer that you should go for everything you are in for. Even city have got images of them winning four trophies this season. Plus it’s a trip to Wembley, let’s beat city and show them we aren’t going anywhere!

{Ed025's Note - its not something i would watch to be fair WYred, the champions versus the nearly but no cigar team..hardly compelling viewing mate.. :)

14.) 18 May 2019
18 May 2019 20:34:09
So what Ed025, we're playing in it. It is an honour to be playing in the match. I'm sure that if Everton were in the same position you would be extemely happy and proud. I would be for you as well. Any club should view playing in this match as an honour regardless of how they made it.

{Ed025's Note - but its supposed to be the league winners against the FA cup winners? maybe letting liverpool play in it is a form of charity?...i dont know..

15.) 18 May 2019
18 May 2019 20:39:11
Stone, ed002 ridiculed Klopp last season for not winning a trophy even though he had us playing some of the best football I’ve seen and getting to a 2nd European final in 2 years, so if you think he’ll be any different if we win a ‘trophy’ for which we qualified for on a technicality (finishing 2nd in the league) then you are mistaken! I agree with ed025, I wouldn’t want to be anywhere near it, it’s a pointless enough game if you have won the league or FA cup, never mind if you havent!

{Ed025's Note - i could not agree more JK..

16.) 18 May 2019
18 May 2019 20:45:34
But a lot better viewing than everton 1, huddersfield 1 ed025.

{Ed025's Note - i expect it would be a very entertaining game between the best 2 teams by a mile in the EPL sandon, if you win it we could have a parade through the streets or the team could join hands and run and dive they did after a draw against west brom a couple of years back mate.. :)

17.) 18 May 2019
18 May 2019 20:59:20
Ed you are killing me! two great teams should make a great game. I’ll also look forward to Everton’s final, hopefully the Merseyside Derby is around Christmas, heard Pickford likes giving out gifts haha.

{Ed025's Note - nice one WYred..

18.) 18 May 2019
18 May 2019 21:01:46
My cousins a bitter 25
His current whatsapp profile photo is the man city badge
Its a sad day when everton and lpool aren't challenging for top spot like in the 80s and the highlight of evertons season is cheering on a manchester side that beats liverpool to the title
If ever your in wavertree 25 ill line u up a pint of boddingtons on me 😘.

{Ed025's Note - im a wavertree guy myself sandon, i dont like city but i do admire the way they play mate, if your in the cock and bottle or the coffee house i might just hold you to that offer.. :)

19.) 18 May 2019
18 May 2019 21:06:10
Ed025 " look at all the stupid liverpool fans taking the community shield seriously"

Ed002 " look at all the stupid liverpool fans mocking the community sheild"

ok then.

{Ed025's Note - what can i say ryan..we have different views on things, i disagree with other EDS on a regular basis mate its not a dictatorship, it would be a boring old world if we all thought the same my friend...a stepford wife i will never be.. :)

20.) 18 May 2019
18 May 2019 21:09:18
Just have to agree to disagree on this one. Again, maybe I'm too old fashioned, but it is an honour to be in the match regardless of how we got there. Ed02 is 100% correct on this in my view.

{Ed025's Note - i have been wrong before stone....1978 i think it was mate.. :)

21.) 18 May 2019
18 May 2019 21:13:27
Tell me you've drank in “the grove” or the shipperies And i probably already know u 25
Just did a history search. evertons last trophy wasnt the milk cup, it was actually the fa cup in 95. id be drinking boddingtons too ed if i had to wait that long for a final. 😘😘😘.

{Ed025's Note - i did drink in the grove and played football for the shipperies sandon as well as edgehill villa and the action, i dont know how old you are mate but the groups on the ships were legendary mate, the west coast flyers and beryl marsden to name just a couple, everton are on the way up my friend and the league could well be a 3 horse race next season.. :)

22.) 18 May 2019
18 May 2019 21:57:39
Just to check 25, your not the bloke that threw the welly up the entry when u met me ma in the grafton?
We could be related.

{Ed025's Note - lol, i could well be mate that was one of my old haunts in the 70,s, grab a granny was the place to be..

23.) 18 May 2019
18 May 2019 21:58:47
Ed025 mate I don't think a trophy for the"1978 North West England Gurning Champion"will suffice😁.

{Ed025's Note - now now barry, if you said a george clooney look alike trophy i think you would be a lot nearer...though some might agree with you mate.. :)

24.) 18 May 2019
18 May 2019 22:03:58
Ok last one.
Do u remember the royston off gladstone road?
Got burnt down
Good pub that.

{Ed025's Note - i could not think of the name sandon (old age), spent a good part of my life in there as i only lived on chatty mate..

25.) 18 May 2019
18 May 2019 22:10:25
Your too cool Ed I can't slag you anymore mate👍.

{Ed025's Note - thank god for that mate.. :)

26.) 18 May 2019
18 May 2019 22:12:22
We probably know each other or at least u know r kid
U still in the area?

{Ed025's Note - very possibly sandon, no mate i live in gateacre now but im still a wavo lad at heart mate..

27.) 18 May 2019
18 May 2019 22:18:17
Love the above banter. 😁
Life is all about having a chuckle.

{Ed025's Note - absolutely rome, life is too short to be miserable mate..

28.) 18 May 2019
18 May 2019 22:23:58
You'll have to email me 25

Let me know who u knocked around with in the grove and the shipperies
Its a small world. you probably knocked my pint over at some point.

{Ed025's Note - you will probably know alan Mc (the fruit guy) or clarkey from the grove, i will try and sort that email out mate..

29.) 18 May 2019
18 May 2019 22:34:28
Top man
Your ok for a blue
Until i find out that your the milkman that looks the spit of my brother.

30.) 18 May 2019
18 May 2019 22:57:10
I'm keen for liverpool to win the charity shield more than I am keen for ed2 to validate my opinion. Either way, ya'll should take a drop of that advice.

31.) 18 May 2019
18 May 2019 23:18:58
Good discussion Eds. Have a good one.

32.) 19 May 2019
19 May 2019 09:45:12
Out of curiosity how did the FA determine what club would get the technicality spot? Why not the FA cup runner up rather than the league runner up?

33.) 19 May 2019
19 May 2019 10:23:55
It means nothing? City, who have had an amazing season, winning the league and both domestic cups are still saying that they've won the "Domestic Quadruple".

If City fans are still counting it as a trophy, after all they've achieved this season, I can't believe the mentality of some of our fans.

Of course it means something.

34.) 19 May 2019
19 May 2019 10:27:30
Nafe01, I'd argue that it's more of an achievement to come second in the league than be a cup runner up.

You can fluke (I'm not saying Watford did, though) getting to the final of the FA Cup. You can't really fluke coming 2nd in the league.

35.) 19 May 2019
19 May 2019 14:47:28
Id love it if we won the Community Shield. Gets the season off with a win, also means City's season starts with a defeat.

36.) 19 May 2019
19 May 2019 14:51:39
It’s all banter at the end of the day, if we win it so many rival fans will say it is a glorified friendly. We probably would if Everton or united were to be in it or win it. At the end of the day we are in it and it’ll be the first game between us and city next season. That alone is enough motivation for me, hopefully show the others a way to beat them and get off on the right foot.

Even between fans we will agree or disagree over the community shield, and I’d personally prefer to be in it through winning it. But in an ideal world we may have the CL, shield and super cup by September so let’s just enjoy the ride rather then sniping because someone has the audacity to maybe thing slightly differently.

On a separate note anyone know how to get tickets for it when there released? I’m guessing it’ll be based on league games attended so be unlikely for me to get involved.

37.) 19 May 2019
19 May 2019 14:52:25
Im only a kid 25
40 years young last year
My older bro stokesy was a bit of a legend in those parts though
My cousin lived on cicely street and me on gladstone road
The manor was a place to steer clear from
I was always stumped with the grove, advertised as a drinking establishment, there was more wacky stuff and people selling knock off dvds than drinking the local tipple
Always reminded me of someones front parlour.

38.) 19 May 2019
19 May 2019 15:18:10
The Community Shield is NOT a thing. It is a glorified preseason friendly, End of.

{Ed025's Note - at best..
