Hello Eds. A lot of speculation has been doing the rounds with respect to a return of Coutinho to Liverpool. Carragher and Thompson have also voiced out their opinion on it, but is there any genuine interest from our side to bring him back? Thanks in advance.

I wouldn't want him back if he was free mate, not welcome, he can bugger off to Chelsea or somewhere like that for me.

OP, If any club is rumored to be interested in Cou, it is Chelsea and even that is not concrete at any level cos they have other options they are looking at. Cou is of NO interest to LFC IMO as that ship has effectively sailed (and the thumping he received along with his Barcelona mates should be all the proof anybody needs), and LONG may that continue.

The AM-sized hole that still exists in our team is testament, IMO, that Coutinho has never been properly replaced.
We have other targets almost certainly though.
I’d hate to see him back in the PL.

{Ed001's Note - he almost never played at AM so how can that be even slightly true? He played on the left for us almost exclusively.}

He’s a good player to come off the bench 🤝.

WE can get Brandt or Fekir for a fraction of what Coutinho would cost and his wages. Plus, Fekir and Brandt do not have long standing back problems.

haha Coutinho rumours come on will ya who would he replace? There is no player in the squad I would swap for him. NO, NO just NO.

I’m grateful for Coutinho’s contribution when he was at Anfield, player of the season for at least 2 of the years he was here.
We had a poorer team in general during his time and he did carry us on many occasions IMO.
I’m not happy about the way a move was engineered but that’s modern day football for you.

The team now is much better than when PC was in his pomp at Liverpool. Indeed the team’s overall intensity and workload has increased massively.
I think PC would be a bit lost in this team if he came back and I think it would take him a long time to recover that intensity if it was possible.
I just don’t see him as a Klopp signing, our players need to be constantly busy - like a Brandt or Fekir - and I don’t see that in PC.

Never mind the price or whether Coutinho is interested in the move. He is not good enough for our team anymore. He wouldn't get near the starting line-up and you don't pay circa £100m for an impact sub. I honestly don't think he's much better than Shaqiri. Run, cut inside, shoot, repeat. He has nothing else to his game. That is why since selling him we've gone from the fringes of the top 4 to being Champions League and Premier League contenders. He is over rated. Move on guys.

Havertz going Bayern. Maybe bring grujic in? Ziyech or depay for the wings?

Target Son instead 👍.

Son would cost more than Coutinho was.

Agreed Johncrow, if we signed only one player this summer i would love it to be Havertz.

I think coutinho was holding us back very selfish on the ball and not a team player think munchenglassbach may take.

If he’s not good enough for Barcelona then why would we want him. Simples!

Ron, Cou never carried us for "many occasions". In fact on many occasions, he went missing during games for us. He was a good player for us and made a huge contribution to our revival under Klopp (I remember him playing sick vs Stoke 3 seasons ago and helped us win a CL spot), just like Can, Klavan, Milner, Studge and Lallana (if the last 3 leave this season) did before him BUT let's not start over-blowing his contribution or say he "carried us on many occasions". That is not true.

Why is Fekir not an option? I think he certainly is. If memory serves me right (and I'm not trying to bring up the past or start any kind of controversial subject) LFC made a public declaration that they were no longer interested in VVD, after the string of events, and then bought him 3-4 months later. So basically anything can happen. It's all about identifying a need and fulfilling that need.

I liked the look of Ziyech against Spurs. He was very unlucky to have two clean shots bounced back by the post. If they had gone in, we would have a different opponent for the CL Final. Shades of Firmino too, with chasing the ball all around the field like a madman.
