Hi Eds and Reds,

Rumours are that Moreno, Clyne and Sturridge are leaving at the end of the season. Is this still the case, after such a successful end to the season? I imagine maybe one or two of them may want to be a squad player at a top club competing for trophies, rather than just starting at mid-table clubs. If they go, would they need replacing or would academy players fill the gap?

Long story short, would losing squad players this summer change the focus for Liverpool's summer targets?

We have sixteen players out on loan, in my view all but Harry Wilson will leave this summer especially the three non-work permit guys. The ink is dry on Danny Ings' Southampton contract.

Sturridge, Moreno and eight U23 players have exactly 50 days remaining on their LFC contracts, leaving at midnight on June 30th.

Apart from all of these I expect Shaqiri, Lallana, Lovren, Corey Whelan and James Milner to leave. Rafael Camacho has already asked to leave.

Over each of the last four summers an average of 29 players have left the club in a mixture of permanent and temporary moves, the Eds usually let me list them as the window closes.

The fact that Moreno has played 3 times in total this season I’d hope we can replace him with youth!

{Ed025's Note - he could be replaced with a gerbil SR..

Can’t see Milner leaving. Even if Leeds get promoted.

Previous discussions about Milner indicated he to be guaranteed a decent wedge of game time. With Fabinho, Hendo and Gini having all had good seasons, plus Ox to come back and a big money signing in Keita who picked up an injury just as he was getting established, he's got serious competition for his place. Lallana showed he still has plenty of quality if he stays and can get fit again too.

I expect he'll be told he's wanted as a squad player, but is free to look for a move if that isn't enough for him.

I don’t think Shaqiri will leave? Offers enough to be kept on and we’re short in that area anyways.

If we win the UCL and Leeds get promoted, then Milner will ask to leave. He will have won everything there is to win at club level and would want to see out his remaining career at his boyhood club.

Awful lot of gerbils feeling pretty bad about themselves right now.

Moreno and Sturridge leaving isn't a rumour, their contracts are expiring.

Ed002,

I did have a look but I saw nothing recent about the likelihood of Moreno, Clyne or Sturridge leaving and how that would affect us this summer.

Ritters of Hale,

Out of the players you've mentioned going, I'm only surprised by Shaqiri's departure but still disappointed by potentially Milner's

My question was more focussed on what positions we will need to strengthen in the summer because of potential departures? I think it's fair to say that Liverpool need strength in depth from our front three but that could be less of a priority than buying replacement full backs and midfielders to cover those leaving this summer.

Why would Sturridge, Moreno and Clyne need replacing when they have barely featured all season? There are a couple in the youth team that are more than capable of taking their place. If the club are going to keep being competitive in the future, they need players who are an upgrade in the first 11 and not looking to sit on the bench. I think one of the Ed’s mentioned James Forest as a potential replacement for Milner.

Ed that is mean to a such a wonderful animal.

Whilst he hasn’t played and I know he’s being paid vast sums to just do nothing he does seem to be a bubbly
Character in the dressing room.

Any margins to help the cause!

I think Lewis should at a minimum be given pre season to show his worth, there is a big issue if we don’t give those opportunities as the younger players will start to question what opportunities there will be at Liverpool.

It is already creeping in we don’t want to lose that positive status.

{Ed025's Note - if you need bubbly personalities in the dressing room SR you could employ bradly walsh for a lot less mate..
