Liverpool vs Barcelona - well well well, what a result. Up there with any result in the clubs history, truly a magical, historic night. Hopefully I'm not too biased but here's how I saw it.

Alisson - Excellent. Made a number of excellent stops, made them look easy, got them out of the danger area, and basically did what Ter Stegen failed to do. Huge performance.

Robartson - He was lively but, like TAA, getting forward at will so leaving gaps. His intensity is to be admired but almost spilled over and, thought I like him as our fullback, his injury wasn't the worst thing in the world to happen in the circumstances.

TAA - Wow. That incredibly clever corner alone was something else but his overall contribution was excellent. For the most part he tracked his runners, he got forward and back superbly, and added a lot to this performance. The last player off the pitch after the celebrations, and totally deserved. Take a bow, son.

Matip - I've been a big critic of his and, whilst there were a few dodgy challenges, he was overall excellent. Didn't let anything past, put his body on the line, and made sure he contributed to a very exposed defences clean sheet in the best possible way. Can hold his head high.

Van Dijk - His imperious self and, though he let e few runs behind go in the first half, let absolutely nothing go in the second. Amped his performance up and was instrumental in the win. His advances to stop Messi getting anytime on the ball were crucial and played a big part in Barcelona altering their style.

Henderson - Honestly, he was incredible. He was everywhere, doing everything, pretty much every minute of the game. His drive an determination stirred and inspired those around him. How he can be doubted as captain I will never know.

Milner - His intensity and desire were excellent, even if his quality first half wasn't there. Looked far more comfortable, and useful, taking Robertson's place in the second half and really shut down their attacks. As an attacking threat he wouldn't work, but as a defensive unit he is immense and a vital cog in the result tonight.

Fabinho - All of the midfielders were excellent, for me he was the most excellent. Somewhat harshly booked for a tackle on Suarez first half I have seen him, in Premier League games, fade after a booking. If anything he was more prominent, took control even more, and dominanted Barcelona like Busquets wishes he could dominate an opposition team. Absolutely outstanding.

Shaqiri - Some telling contributions which lead to goals but, in my opinion, a little ineffective overall. Certainly worked hard, tracked back, and did everything you'd want. But could contribute more in the final third for me - maybe the final is his time!

Mane - absolutely tireless. Ran himself into the ground, always looked for the ball, and though he didn't always make the most of the ball, a really solid performance. So much heart.

Origi - Two goals, two well taken goals, a will to keep on going, and keep on putting the opposition under pressure. I thought his overall contribution wasn't the greatest but, when the team needed him, he was there, and that is something to be lauded. Well done lad!

Subs:

Wijnaldum - jesus christ! Two goals, an imperious midfield performance - honestly he came on at half time and could be man of the match, that's how good he was. His levels this season have been superb and this game underlined them in the best way possible. Fast becoming indispensible.

Gomez - came on to sure things up and he did that for the most part. Not the longest cameo but he made a difference and, from a defensive perspective, does solidify the defence.

Sturridge - a time wasting substitution so not much to say.

Conclusion:

Honestly, I expected nothing. I thought we were done. Somehow, in the most incredible of circumstances, we have forced our way through to the final. The mentality of this team is absolutely second to none, pure drive and determination. At this stage of the season, to do that, was extraordinary. Sunday looms, and sure it seems unlikely, but stranger things have happened, and this team truly is exceptional. Bask in this glory Liverpool fans - most supporters can only dream of such memories.

Got to mention Klopp, how he managed to get the team ready and fired up for that game I don’t know.

{Ed0333's Note - the man is just an incredible man manager.

I was expecting something like the 4-4 Chelsea 10 years ago. Give a good account of ourselves, be within reach of the required result a couple of times during the game, but ultimately, gallantly, fall short.

It appears I severely underestimated our team. Salah's "Never Give Up" t-shirt at the end sums it all up.

{Ed0333's Note - I friggin love that hoodie Salah was wearing. Talk about the club running through the course of his veins. If there’s any justice in this world Salah will have a CL winners medal on June 1st.

Brilliant review, Seano. Like Mikey said, how Klopp get these guys ready to play the game of a lifetime after all that has happened in the last ten days, beggars belief.

Ed033 regarding Salah and you can take this to the bank, he will be on a mission to right the wrong he was dealt in last years final. IMO, he feels something was taken away from him in that final and now, he is back. He will be super determined and super angry and we all know what Salah is like when he is angry. Like the Incredible Hulk, you're not going to like Mo when he is angry.

{Ed0333's Note - god willing he plays and if Salah does play I 100% agree with you redwolf we’re gonna see a monster out there. My only fear is he might get a little greedy and play for himself more than the team. But it’s no different from what we’ve seen Ronaldo do for the last decade and he has won title after title.

It'll go nicely alongside the PL medal he'll get on Sunday, 333.

{Ed0333's Note - mate I really don’t care which one we win I just want either or both lol. Wouldn’t it be ironic if we won the CL and City won the Prem?

Although we won’t win the league, Wolves isn’t a dead rubber any more as beating then will keep the run going and the confidence up. Beat them soundly and then look forward to a trip to Madrid. Old big ears is coming home.

We'll win both Ed mate, mark my words.

{Ed0333's Note - it’s destiny mate. I was with my wife watching the final in a bar in Dallas I never want to feel those emotions again Salah. Let’s hope you’re namesake can create some magic and do the business. I really need redemption.
