Eds are we looking for a winger for the LW/ RW position to rotate with mane and salah, although we survived this year without really having one surely we have to have a back up if one of them has a long term injury? And if so who would we be looking at?

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool would need to look for a high-end winger to replace Salah if he gets his move. Liverpool also have Wilson who would be suitable - but Klopp seems intent on trying to buy success so he could be sold like Ojo and Kent are likely to be.}

Hi ed do you think one of Mane or Salah will leave in the summer?

Surely not both.

{Ed002's Note - Salah may get the move he desires.}

Really wouldn't mind Salah moving on for the right price and a second consecutive golden boot would mean a decent return.

If we can use the funds wisely it could mean getting the strength and depth needed to go one better next year.

I can understand salah's ambition but i think it would be a bad move for him to move to real or barca. Regarding his career. I think he is at the best club for him to perform at his best.

If salah went through a spell like he did this season, not scoring for a few matches or playing particularly well, and being a bit greedy with it tbh, he would be dropped and then who knows? His career could go backwards as coutinio's seems to have.

20 minutes away from the title last night imo. Kompany of all players may well have won the league for city.

And if we lose salah it will be a big blow. I don't see it happening. I don't see any of our stars leaving. Except maybe milner.

I’d move on Sturridge Kent and ojo, and keep origi, giving Wilson a chance in preseason. If derby go up, I’d be tempted to send Wilson again, to see him at a premier league level club. Sturridge and also Lallana leaving would free up wages for an attacking player to come in. I know they have had few games between them, but the front three have barely missed any, so a quality option would be key in fighting on all fronts next year.

Thanks for your time.

I don't see how we can replace his 55+ league goals in 2 seasons. Firmino doesn't score enough as a cf. The only thing I could hope for would be to buy 2 top players with the money. Depressing, as soon as we get a top player they want to leave.

{Ed002's Note - And drop someone else or change the formation?}

6.) 07 May 2019

If that was to happen who would you personally think would be a good replacement with your footballing knowledge?

{Ed002's Note - Federico Chiesa.}

Ed02 surely Klopp trying to “buy success” as you put it, is the same at all the clubs vying for the title/ top 4. There’s clearly youth development at Liverpool and I’m a believer in developing talent over buying it unnecessarily. I would have thought “buying success” is pretty much part of the modern game unfortunately.

{Ed002's Note - Klopp's selling point when he took the job was not to buy success. The stance of the club and Klopp as switched no to desparation for some sort of success - hence the spending on players and the outrageous agent fees they have been paying. It is nothing to do with any other clubs - and certainly Arsenal and Spurs have not been spending much.}

If we could have the luxury of bringing on a Sane off the bench that would be nice. Minus the grumpiness about not playing much mind.

How is buying a player to replace a young player deemed not good enough to make it trying to buy the league?

I thought transfers was not only allowed but encouraged in football and I'm sure I've seen other teams doing it lol.

@markp08

“Depressing, as soon as we get a top player they want to leave. ”

It’s not as soon as though is it?
They seem to give us 2 good years where we don’t win anything and then they leave.

That’s why we should have tried harder in one of the domestic cups. It’s how all the recently successful teams have established themselves.

Players want to win things, even domestic trophies.

If we do lose salah it will be for a massive fee. Huge. I would take that money and offer spurs and levy an offer they can't refuse for Son.

Investing in Alisson, Keita, Fab and Ox and the like has got us 1 point behind the most expensive assembled team in Premier League history. TAA and Gomez are proof Klopp gives youth a chance but its unfortunate that modern football buying players to improve and refresh your squad is a requirement.

07 May 2019 14:19:52
Ron I know what you mean on this one. Not sure a league cup would have changed his mind though. I would have hoped significant progress this season would have been enough to get one more season from Salah.

If Salah leaves it will send the wrong message to VVD, Mane etc.

Clubs have been buying their success since just before the Premier league era.

The only team that didn’t, was probably Leicester.

{Ed002's Note - And Liverpool.}

17.) 07 May 2019
07 May 2019 14:29:56
Hence the need to spend big.

{Ed002's Note - No, Liverpool have spent big but so far without success. Others have spent big and got success.}

Recently? yes I agree but the club were majorly held back by Moore’s and Parry for many years and whilst United moved forward, we stood still.

Prime example, I remember when Houllier tried to sign Cristiano Ronaldo. He was spotted at the Toulon Under-21 but liverpool had a wage scale and weren’t paying the sort of salary he wanted.

Move forward a few years, Chelsea were backed by Roman, Arsenal had a great guy in David Dean - we had Gillet and Hicks ( again, Moore’s is responsible for this) who nearly brought the club to it’s knees.

Move forward to today and we have FSG who I think are fantastic owners. I for one cringe at certain elements on here that slag them off. They clearly have no idea as to the the history of the club.

{Ed002's Note - Yes, if you go back in history you can find someone else to blame.}

Not my “fault” if your not interested in the facts Ed002.

Thought it might be quite interesting for the younger posters to get an insight.

{Ed002's Note - It is years and years ago.}

21.) 07 May 2019
07 May 2019 15:19:27
Clearly we’re not going to agree but 2010 is only 9 years ago.

{Ed002's Note - So you don't think that is a long time ago? It is the usual scratching around looking for someone else to blame.}

22.) 07 May 2019
07 May 2019 15:23:22
Ed002 is right though Drogie. As hard as it is Liverpool will be the club that

over the past 5 years
10 years
20 years
30 years
In the world
who has spent the most never to have won a league.

Irrespective whose right or wrong, we need to invest over the summer. ITs unfortunate that we may lose Salah or Mane but that's how it is.
Im sure the club who deals with our players and their agents on a daily are more in the know than the public is and have made preparations in case one or a few of our stars leave.
Salah, Mane and Firmino have all recently signed 5 year contracts which means we should make a profit. Yes profits don't immediatley replace the lost stars but at least we can invest in the squad significantly.
We also have to prepare for the day Klopp leaves so by now, the club should be building a legacy that will last for years to come.

24.) 07 May 2019
07 May 2019 16:16:26
Drogie, Liverpool FC has indeed had a rather chequered recent history with unsuitable owners but I agree that the club is now in very good hands with FSG. The strategic, financial and football management structure is frequently held up as an example for the likes of Manchester United to follow. I feel sure that the titles we crave are on the way - and I haven’t given up on it being this season either. Ignore the wind-up merchants on this site.

I would hardly call it desperation to buy success. I don't care what other clubs have done but mine has seen over the last 4 years money spent on stadium improvements, new training academy being built, 3 strikers that have scored 150 plus goals over last 2 years, player of the year this year, goalkeeper we have craved and other talented young players that have increased in value. Seems to me that club are building a good infrastructure and although this has not yielded a trophy to date, 2 European finals, a semi that could yet be another final and a points tally that has only ever been bettered once in history and could still win the league is not to be sneezed at. The club is in a much better position than at any point in many years and I am happy with how we are moving forward and think Klopp is doing a fantastic job despite the fact that Ed02 has an almost Evertonian bitterness towards him. Let's hope the boys can roar us home tonight and make it a fitting end to a brilliant season.
