I know klopp would not do it, but what are people's thoughts of having Gomez at RB and Trent as a right mid, this way we don't leave holes behind Trent and we get the attacking threat he offers with his crosses?

To clarify, I mean against Barcelona, if firmino isn't fit to start.

What about the defensive duties Klopp expects his mids to carry out? Assuming he would be a CM, would TAA be as defensively as good as a Milner, Henderson, Wijnaldum, Keita or even Ox, for that matter? Whose place would he take?

I personally feel like Gomez should play as centre back, or not at all. We need goals, and Trent's excellent distribution could go a long way to finding said goals. If Trent play's in midfield, and Gomez at the back, then we'll still lose Trent's excellent crossing and, at the same time, have Trent playing in a very unfamiliar role against Barcelona - I wouldn't feel comfortable with that.

I mean have Salah playing more as a striker with mane on the left and Trent on the right, more as a traditional right midfielder and keep midfield 3 as they are.

It's a tricky one because I don't think the midfield as a 3 can provide width Do you mean in the Salah role? The right wing of the front 3 ATred? He definitely doesn't belong in the front 3 though!

Otherwise it means a change of formation which I don't see happening. We don't play with a right midfielder. I see what you mean though.

Regardless, I wouldn't be conservative against Barcelona any longer. We're 3-0 down. Start with TAA as right back.

I would prefer Gomez at CB and Trent at RB as someone already suggested as well. The front three should be left alone as they are esp. if Bobbie is fit to start and even if he is, Trent is better bringing hell from RB cos he hast the whole right side of the field in front of him hence, he will be able to pick his spots.

My thinking is if firmino can not start, then move Salah to play more as a striker, move Trent forward abit and keep him fixed on that right side to whip those crosses in and he would keep alba back as Trent would always be on that right side and not vacate the position like Salah does, thus nullifying the attacking threat of alba, Gomez at right back can sit there and keep coutinho quiet.
This is only if firmino can not start.

I know that Trent's future is seen as a midfielder, but trying him in midfield for the first time against Barcelona is just suicide.

For that we've sacrificed our creativity for 3 midfielders whose job is to track runners or fill the gaps and most if not all our creativity comes from our full-backs.

I'd actually consider going 352 and having Trent and Andy as the wide men. Joe, Virgil and matip as CB.

Have fab and Gini play holding with someone more creative in front and Salah (if fit) and mane up front. In the event Salah is not fit I'd play origi and mane up front and have origi create space for mane and hold the ball up.

It looks defensive on paper but considering how high up Andy and Trent play and how much they attack it's not really.

Too many changes to tactics will destroy us and are not necessary.
Play the same formation as we have all season just play the first 10 minutes like it’s the last 10.
