Apparently Ederson has been voted ahead of Alisson in the team of the year.

I don't understand that when Alisson has been the best keeper in the league this season.

It surely has to be the GK with most clean sheets? I guess you have to take save % into account too maybe?

I don’t Ederson has ever truly been under the cosh this season? We’ve seen when he is, that he’s not as reliable. Good with his feet though.

Even the percentage is higher for alisson. he has not conceded a goal from outside the box in epl. d nly one. he has d highest amount of clean sheets in 10 years. nd yet.

It's probably, what I call, "the VVD" effect". People are seeing VVD playing in front of Alisson and assuming that Alisson hasn't had to do much and appears better than he is because of VVD.

Voted for by players - that explains it. 🥴.

He also makes unnecessary errors that lead to chances, 2 of which have lead to goals. Its very tight between the two and the clean sheet record cannot be attributed directly to him.

I agree noshbag. 3 in fact. Leicester United and Fulham. Could easily have been 4 against cardiff. I do love allison, great keeper but he's not miles ahead as some seem to suggest.

Noshbag, whilst I agree. Ederson also makes the same mistakes or at least has came very close and got lucky on several occasions just like Alisson. It's the way both gk's play. I may add I feel both are fantastic goalkeepers and in top 5 in world along with Obak, Ter Stegan, De Gea (although been poor since the world cup)

Spot on, Coco9. Ederson makes the same mistakes all the time and is more likely to concede when under pressure and exposed as we have seen this season and in the CL vs Spurs. Allison is just a beast of a GK. The guy looks intimidating and gets into opponents' heads as he is a man mountain in goal. As foe Ederson, he is the flashier of the two BUT in reality, the guy is not as good as many think he is cos he concedes a lot of goals whenever under the slightest bit of pressure.

Whilst I’m not fervently debating the decision, as I’ve hardly watched City this season so can’t comment on Edersons overall game, it’s actually Allison who has more EPL clean sheets than Ederson - 18 vs 16 (albeit may be 17 now after United game) per the official EPL website.

Zed, I wouldn't read too much into the clean sheets stat cos both teams defend very well collectively and press the oppo. to death to win the ball back.

True, Wolf, but Shaq said above "It surely has to be the keeper with the most clean sheets? " which it isn't.

Its the players who voted, so perhaps Ederson just sent out better pre-vote gift bags?!

You may be right, Zed.
