Cheers Ed, good read as always. Agree with Mane's 10, I know you don't hand them out freely but even without his goals I think he would've been a 9, he was just brilliant.

Regarding Matip, there were many saying he should've got man of the match and I seriously thought I had missed something so glad I see you agree that he basically had a decent enough game while not being spectacular. He does worry me though, although we can all see the improvement he still looks like there's a costly error coming at any time.

Thanks for that ed! Hard to argue with any of what you have said there.
VVD makes such a difference in games without having to do much, opponents seem to try and play off whoever partners him which just gives him more time and space. Says it all that lewndowski one of the best in the world resorted to falling over knowing there was little he could do to get passed him.

Ed01, it is great to read a match report/ player ratings which actually explains clearly and convincingly why the ratings have been given. I always get caught up in the tension and emotion of games, whether watching live or on tv or online and like to watch a re-run with your ratings to hand to get a better understanding of how players have done. Keep ‘me coming!

great review as always.

while VVD is getting all kinds of rave reviews, i agree with you that he wasnt at his best defensively in this game - at bit too lax at times for me. which in part is comforting, because he is so confident even when facing such a massive opponent, at the same time worrying, because how can he be lax for such a big game?! but his passing and goal were colossal.

while Robertson's booking was silly, i hope that it helps to clear his head once and for all (though i'm not sure if the card is automatically voided when QF comes about anyway) . because the way he defended in these 2 matches made Gnabry look like Mane.

Mane, couldn't agree more than he was a 10. the 1st goal alone was amazing. the rest of his game, just a beauty to behold and even when Bayern double and triple teamed him, he still got away with a pass or dribble.

Great as always though I think you were a bit generous to Firmino. He gave the ball away a lot and constantly looked for the harder pass when he had men free in much easier positions.

I was at the game and the Bayern fans were so complimentary about our team. They all wanted us to go on and win the competition.
