Ed002, with the recent sad news regarding the Sala plane crash and his body being recovered, I read that Nantes have started legal action against Cardiff in order to recoup some, if not all, of the transfer fee. I believe Cardiff have asked for more time for the investigation to be conducted. This made me wonder, as it is such a sensitive issue, where do the clubs stand on the financial side of this? I thought the clubs would have insurance for this type of thing, but as it was mid-transfer, where do the obligations lie and with whom? Extremely unfortunate situation and I hope the pilot can be recovered at some point to give closure to his family.

{Ed002's Note - The situation is that he had signed for Cardiff and they owe the transfer fee to Nantes in accordance with the terms of the contract - and Nantes owe a sell on fee to GdB. Cardiff have said that they do have insurance but they are also saying that they wish to wait until the AAIB and other investigations are complete.}

Unfortunately it makes me feel sick thinking about it but he was Cardiffs player, even though he hadn't played a game yet. It's an all round horrible situation and I think they've asked for the first payment prematurely, but it needs paying at some point. Hope this never happens again.

{Ed025's Note - yeah janmo money should not be even thought of at this time, let the families grieve and sort it out at a later date, not very classy by nantes i must say..

My thoughts exactly a couple of months isn't going to make a difference to a football club. And this kind of thing should be done out if the press. God bless to his family and friends.

My guess from a pure insurance point of view is that the insurance company wouldn’t pay out until his body was found and that’s why Cardiff were asking for me time. A horrible situation and my thoughts are only with his family and friends at this difficult time.

Decency demands that people wait until at least the deceased are laid to ground. Even a week or 10 days would have been appropriate. And then to have it out in the media is really cheap behaviour. All chasing the almighty buck 😡.

{Ed025's Note - a sad state of affairs mate..
