Mignolet - 6
Good distribution and couldn't do anything about the goals. Not much to judge really.

Camacho - 3
Positive attitude but got caught far too high up and made the wrong decisions constantly. Not got a future at right back but looked confident in forward positions.

Hoever - 7
Fair play. He was very raw as is to be expected and had to recover a few times but aside from getting run off the ball once, he made some great blocks, great passes and looked like a natural. Was the key man in our best move of the match, all at 16 years old.

Fabinho - 8
Only player who started the match to perform well from start to finish. Had to play centre back and midfield at times because of the lack of quality ahead of him. Won everything except the one challenge were Milner stitched him up.

Moreno - 3
Made all the same mistakes as Camacho despite being nearly a decade older and lacked any semblance of confidence anywhere on the pitch. Shocking.

Milner - 2
Worst performance I've ever seen from him in his whole career. At fault for both goals. First one trying a Cruyff turn in a stupid area, second one he dropped behind our centre backs when he should've been in midfield putting pressure on the ball like literally any other midfielder in our squad would've done. Passing was poor all night and he will know he's embarrassed himself on a night where we looked to him for leadership.

Keita - 2
Couple of moments where he threatened to play well but ultimately he just over ran the ball every time and by the time he did play a good pass the recipient was offside every time.

Shaqiri - 2
Free kick aside, he might as well have not been on the pitch. Having said that, hitting the post is no more use than knocking out Deborah in Row Z.

Jones - 3
Tried to be positive and worked very hard but lacked any cutting edge. As much to blame as Milner for the second goal but he doesn't have 16 years of Senior football experience to be fair.

Sturridge - 0
Did absolutely nothing right all night. I defended him earlier but that was indefensible.

Origi - 5
Rescued his score with a good second half display where he held the ball up well, scored a good goal, and worked very hard. First half he was almost as bad as Sturridge though with marginally more effort.

Lovren - N/ A
Barely kicked a ball.

Salah/ Firmino - 5
Came on and instantly added some quality. Nearly combined to rescue an undeserved replay.

Conclusion - the rest of the team owe Fabinho and Hoever a drink for preventing an embarrassing scoreline. Beer for Fabinho and a Ribena for Hoever.

Mignolet rarely saves anything, he wouldn’t have made the save that Ruddy made from Shaqiri’s free kick.

Disagree about both goals. The first he was too slow off his line that jimenez had the opportunity to look down and pick his spot. Alisson wouldve been off his line and smothered the chance. The 2nd goal was terrible footwork and positioning no way should a shot that far out be beating Mingo unless it was directly in the corner or top corner worldie. Agree with the rest though.

Think you're abit emotional buddy!

Not sure what happened in the first half but it seemed like Milner was almost trying to look after Hoever as he was constantly taking the ball off him or taking his position at the back, not sure whether that was tactical or not but I must say he did seem to be the only player in midfield atleast trying, not a great game I'd agree.

Camacho looked like a winger and certainly not a defender in any sense.

Shame to see such a poor game from sturridge and I just don't rate Origi that highly,

Moreno. Very poor!

Hoever was confident but I would say he looked 16! Certainly too weak which is completely fair enough considering his age but he did get tossed around abit, give him a couple of years but he certainly gave it a go so fair play.

Seemed a combo of poor tactics and uninterested players screwed us over for the most part lastnight.

Mignolet - 4
I know they would have been difficult saves but I think Alisson is showing that your starting position is critical and Migs just somehow never seems to be near it. Being beaten so comfortably from that far out is still disappointing.

Camacho - 3
Agree - decent on the ball but was constantly out of position to the point it was like he had been told to play winger when in possession. Poor positional sense.

Hoever - 6
Agree - played well, a bit nervous and needs to physical mature a bit, but looked a real player despite having limited cover from his FBs or midfield.

Fabinho - 7
Agree - played the best of a bad bunch IMO. Would almost feel more comfortable with him alongside VVD than Lovren. Gave him a 7 for diving in even if Milner was the man at fault.

Moreno - 3
Shocking, constantly giving the ball away (even if not helped by the rest of the team, speculative punts upfield are not acceptable)

Milner - 3
Agree worst performance from him in a long long time but really felt he was being asked to do something completely unnatural to him. His game is about movement, workload and energy, not about having an immaculate first touch, controlling the game, passing range, defensive positioning or tackling (ie. all the things required in a deep midfielder! ) . Klopp got this one completely wrong as be should never have been asked to play the role he was given. it exposed him badly. Gave him a 3 as at least he was trying unlike many others on the pitch.

Keita - 3
Some nice glimpses mixed with some really poor touches and felt he didn’t show for the ball in the first half as much as he could, leaving Milner to flounder.

Shaqiri - 3
Another one that hid in the first half and only came alive in the second. Not good enough as a senior player.

Jones - 3
Poor game but not helped by the senior players

Sturridge - 1
Agree it was a complete disaster and may well be a turning point for Klopp I’m offering him a contract. He disappeared completely when this should have been his chance to show he can work hard for the team and set a good example.

Origi - 5
Agree - rescued his score with a good second half display but first half was awful

Lovren - N/ A

Salah/ Firmino - 6
Instantly showed a desire that the second string sorely and inexplicably lacked

Conclusion - I actually think Klopp got this completely wrong by letting the FBs roam forward and asking Milner to play deep, but the lack of application from some of the senior players (particularly upfront) was unforgivable.

What it also shows however is our depth at FB is sorely lacking, and our backup forwards (Origi and Sturridge) play a completely different game to our usual front three which is based on movement, workload and pace. I think Klopp will be taking a lot away from this defeat.

Can’t agree on Migs, first goal he didn’t even try to raise his right arm to make himself big, I know it was a 1 on 1 but I genuinely think Big Al saves that. Second goal was awful positioning and terrible reactions, the second of which was always migs’s saving grace but even that seems to have gone now! He was far to central and off his line and seemed like he was setting his feet when the ball was nearly past him. Awful performance all round save for the young Dutch lad, Fabinho and Origi.

So squad palyers to be replaced

Migs Clyne Moreno origi and strudd out and 5 players in.

Wilson should be one need other 4.

Backup keeper backup full backs and backup forwards.

I'm with you Westwood. I don't criticise a keeper for a one on one so I'll leave first out but second I think Allison saves comfortably.
He had a clear view of it from the start and mignolet doesn't start to move dive until the ball is almost past him. He also plants his feet before neves strikes and then just does not move them before the dive. One shuffle step to the side and I think even migs would reach it.

Overall migs no where near the biggest culprit of the night. A lot of players need to look at themselves and honestly that possibily should be his last game for Liverpool.

Very disappointing display by Sturridge. I would expect far more effort from a team senior who's been around for years, and been given chance after chance after chance. That's all I want to say. Time for him to move on.

For me, Sturridge has to leave before Origi - though it depends on who is being courted by clubs.
I am actually worried at the thought of having Sturridge as the only backup, going into the second half of the season.
The Hoever kid did well yesterday. Apart from the one time when he was nudged off the ball by Jimenez (I think), he did quite well for a 16 year old.
I think Milner was disappointing, but it was a one-off. Unlike Sturridge that I expect to be disappointing 80% of the time.

Sorry MK, have to disagree with you on Mignolet, his distribution was woeful and choice of passes put defenders under unecessary pressure, he stayed planted to his line far too often and was at fault for both goals, instead of making himself as big as possible for the first goal, he turned himself side on and looked the other way, the second goal he took up a terrible starting position and was beaten far too easily, a top class keeper is saving that all day long, as good a shot as it was, Alisson would have saved it.

11.) 08 Jan 2019

Morning MK, agree with most of the ratings there apart from Migs and Moreno.

I actually think Mignolet made himself smaller when he came out for the first goal! He turns his body to the side and his head away from the ball.

Moreno for me doesn't deserve to get close to a 3 haha! His attitude to tackling is incredible and his inability to use his right foot was the reason Wolves scored the first too in my opinion.

13.) 08 Jan 2019

Mignolet should have done better on both goals. The first goal he dithered, didn’t know whether to come or stay and in the end did neither. Allowed the player to pass the ball past him. The second goal despite being a decent strike (it wasn’t a worldie) he got nowhere near it. Despite it being his near post. It was as if he was playing in cement boots.

Migs = 3
Camamch =4
Hoever =7
Fabinho =6 (too rash in that challenge that led to jiminez goal
moreno= 5 15 (was more assured on the ball going forward, didn't work and ge was then caught out of position. That said I think his experience gives him the edge over camancho last night.

.
Shaqiri =7
Milner=7
Keits=6

Sturrigde=2
Origi =5 had to give him 5 for the goal, it was a beauty.

How come Hoever can run with the ball with his eyes up but origi can't take his eyes off the ball. One is a full international at a huge side hoever can't grow a real moustache!

{Ed001's Note - totally different thing to be striding out at a measured pace from the backline to running as fast as possible with the ball at your feet while players are at you looking to make a challenge, and usually buffeting you as you try to make a run.}
