I have always thought Origi seems to have all of the ingredients to be a great player for us. such a very quick, strong, skilful and seemingly hardworking and was excited when he first came in. Yet based on the last couple of years my judgement seems to be wide of the mark? I couldn’t find anything via the search tool and was wondering if Ed 01 has already done a profile of him? I suspect it may enlighten me. Is he just not good enough or should I hold out hope he will one day reach my previously perceived potential?

{Ed001's Note - I haven't yet mate, but I have added him to the to do list.}

I get the impression he is one of these players who was physically excellent when he was younger, which is why he excelled throughout the youth ranks and got in to the first team but he is technical ability and his football brain are very lacking.

Origi reminds me of Welbeck. A lot of running and a few goals here and there.

He is inconsistent, which I think is his biggest issue. He struggles to put together a string of solid performances, which is always going to stifle his chances at being a regular for a top team in Europe. He had one great season and world cup, which he then followed up by being voted into the worst 11 for Ligue 1. Shame, as I enjoyed his play during our Europa league run.

Thanks very much all and I very much look forward to your player profile Ed whenever you get a chance.

{Ed001's Note - I will try to get to it as quickly as possible.}

Amazing because on the face of it' it should be him or welbeck over kane that should of been the better player.

Both faster, stronger, as tall, powerful everything from young age would of pointed to them being better.

Just shows what a trully hard job talent scouting is and how much problems assessing academy kids can give you.

There's probably a ton that are out bodying players who are going to be better than them, that will get the chances because there quicker stronger and taller.

You can say what you want about Welbeck but he gets game time for united arsenal and England, those type of players can be useful.
Quick strong, can finish, win headers - if he doesn’t go, it’s not too bad!

He looks like a confidence player to me. When Klopp put faith in him that season he looked really good and was really dangerous every time he played until he got nobbled by Funes Mori.
Since then he’s just never had the chance to get that confidence back.

In pre season Origi was shocking. Always making the wrong decision, and shooting way off target. He has gone backwards in the last 18 months.

He reminds me of when we signed Ryan Babel. I was so excited when we signed what looked like such a brilliant young player. They both look like they have all the attributes to be world class, except being able to play competitive football unfortunately.

He hasn’t had enough game time due to the consistency and fitness of Bobby.

He’s an upgrade on Davy N’gog.
