So Max Meyer, allegedly linked to us over the summer, is apparently on the verge of signing for Crystal Palace, is it me or is that a strange one? No disrespect to palace, but I thought one of the big guns would've been in for him, seeing as the Ed's said his wage demands were high, just a thought.

Don't see it as that strange, to be honest.

Meyer appears to want relatively high money both in signing fee and wages.

Bigger teams do not see him as a starter (like us) and therefore would be reluctant to pay that, although he is a very good player.

For someone like Palace he is a starter so a) they're more likely to pay higher wages accordingly and b) he is much more assured of game time.

Not a hugely dissimilar to, for example, Shaq joining Stoke?

Don't see it as strange at all. He isn't good enough for any of the top 6-8 teams in the league especially for a starting spot. Good luck to him at palace. Think we were right not going after him.

The only strange thing is his high wage demand. He needs to cut his teeth in the Premier league before he is worth the really big money.

Nothing strange about it. He's been linked to big clubs for years and his agent seems to have done a decent job in creating hype and making people think he should be at a big club when truly we know little about him.

Spot on, Zed. Meyer has been linked to us for years (not this summer, IMO as that is just recycled stuff from prev. years) and we have moved on from him since then and gotten better by targeting and signing much better midfielders.

Also, he is now a DLP and would not make the bench in that position at LFC currently. He is not what he is made out to be, IMO cos as an AM, I saw him at the Olympics in Brazil and Brandt was the better player and outshone him, hands down. Funny that Klopp went for him and not Meyer? Meyer is at his level now at CP cos no big club will take him and there is nothing strange about that esp. if you have been following him as much as some of us have benn over the years.
