I actually thought he looked a little dodgy, flapped at a couple of things and was fortunate not to concede after he made a mistake.

Agreed Kramer I thought he looked dodgy. Only one game I know but for 80 odd mil you don’t expect flaps and knock downs to the opposition striker like we saw today. Not happening anyway so doesn’t matter.

Doesn’t matter how much you spend, keepers will always make mistakes! De Gea and neuers recent form is testament to that. Courtois and lloris made mistake last year. 150 mil will not buy a keeper that doesn’t mess up from time to time. What you’re paying for is someone who does most things better than the rest.

There are always going to be flaps. World class players make mistakes. No player is perfect, Alison is z decent keeper, never thought he was worth anything like I 80mil. its ridiculous money for a keeper.

We will sign butland, 20 odd mil and I reckon he will do well for us.

Wasn’t great 2 nite in fact the only games I’ve watched him in the 2 Roma games and 2nite I said no way is he worth 70m definitely think it be butland.

I think we can all agree that we would have uniteds De Gea in goal for us if we could. but even he made a huge mistake at the world cup. no goalie is perfect.

I’m not for a second saying Alisson isn’t good. I’m sure he is but I don’t think comparisons with De Gea’s recent mistakes prove anything. De Gea has been absolute quality at the top top level for what? 5-6 years? And the mistakes he has made have been very uncharacteristic. Alisson has had one good year in what is a much less physical league that the PL and in the 3 games I have watched him in, admittedly not a lot but still, he has conceded 7 goals, flapped at multiple crosses, missed punches, and pushed a cross directly out to a striker who should really of scored. Again, before I get jumped on, or before someone says something stupid like “typical LFC fan, criticising before he’s here. Blah blah blah. ”I’m not saying he’s a bad keeper or these are typical instances. All I’m saying is he’s being massively hyped and I’m just not seeing why.

Hailstones in answer to you iv no idea who would be available that’s top quality at the minutes. There doesn’t seem to be an abundance of good keepers out there at the minute, probably another reason for the Alisson hype. I agree though probably Oblak if it were up to me.

Oblak would be my choice. Consistent, hard to beat, rarely makes mistakes and genuinely one of the top three keepers around. As long as we avoid Cillessen and Navas that will be a good start. I’m still not convinced about Butland as he’s error prone, but he isn’t as bad as Navas or Cillessen.
