Maybe I'm deluded but I just don't think the lads bothered to get out of first gear last night. I think we had the ability to easily win but we weren't exactly sure how to play. We were slow in everything we did and our counter was labored. There were moments when we dominated which ended up with a goal, and then we reverted back to doing just about enough. It's strange- I wasn't overly concerned. I was just watching the clock and watching the minutes go down. Even as they pushed towards the end I just kept thinking we could step up a gear if it was needed. Thankfully it wasn't.

I think we were just fatigued aoe, our movement was so lethargic and our inability to do simple things was just so uncharacteristic. Salah's probably the best example - offside twice in three minutes at the start of the second half. Firmino trying to shoot through players 5 or 6 times instead of playing through them or passing back to rebuild the attack. We just couldn't get ourselves around after a certain point.

We got out played by the better team on the night some of our play was shocking.
I said we would loose and got a bit of stick, to be honest I have us down loosing to Chelsea by around the same score from last night.
As for the final I think we loose it 5-1.
I think we as a team have peaked a few games early, and on a downer.

I'm positive we were just playing to win the tie over 2 legs rather than the game. Don't think it was tiredness the press didn't really exist last night we were just looking to counter when the opportunity arose. We lost on the night but overall job done.

I think klopp might have told them not to press by the look of it. To save energy and prevent holes in the formation hopefully we see that missing energy back for Chelsea.

no wonder you are negative.

is it possible the team is just tired? they have been playing at a high intensity for big games for coming to a month now haven't they?

and if we were so shocking, wasn't Roma even more shocking that they didn't even bother to throw the kitchen sink at us, especially at 3-2 within a good 5 - 8 mins left?

both teams looked labored and we did just enough to get pass the finishing line. we are in the UCL final for goodness sake. enjoy it and trust the team to be fit, fresh and ready in Kiev shall we?

i guess there's no point watching the final negative seeing as you're 3 steps ahead of all of us. i didn't see roma celebrating their victory last night? why? cos they didn't do what they needed to over 2 legs and we did . simple.

5-1 bloody hell Walter mate, have some faith lol more like the other way around, I reckon we'll do them. I've said it time and time again we'll win it and I'm confident of it, it won't be easy, no game is but we'll do them. Salah, Mane and Firmino will have a field day against their defence and Navas. They will attack us and it'll be to our advantage, we'll counter and beat them comfortably imo.

We need to beat Chelsea and rest the lads against Brighton, if we've secured top 4, hell, put the youngsters on and rest our best for the final. Lack of energy really showed last night, we need to be at our best in the final and I believe we will be, we'll be right up for it. RM fancies a go? bring them on, they won't know what has hit them, they will be complacent and they will fail. Just my opinion of course.

Jesus. anyone would think we were battling relegation. the lads have worked so hard this season and played a lot of football. Injuries have come at the wrong time and klopp has not been able to rest anyone really. Roma over two legs were not the better team and we deserve our place in the final. The lads need to pick themselves up for Sunday and get the job done and then play the fringe and kids against Brighton so that first 11 are super fresh for Kiev.
Yes Madrid will be the favourites but I've seen enough of them this season to know that we can punish them. We just have to handle the occasion which will be a big test for our relatively young team. This is a one off game and if we bring out best there is no reason we can't pick up number 6.

I thought similar to yourself I was even a bit disappointed we lost on the night as I felt we dropped back too deep at times last night. After we scored and before we looked fine then the own goal gave Roma a lift. I think to two late goals flattered Roma a bit but you could say it was our own fault.

I think we looked tired and when you think since the City game we have had to play on Saturday @ 12.30 a number of times between the City game and now but now we have the Chelsea game, if we can win that and secure top four we have a weeks break before Brighton. We’ve also lost a numbers of players for the season between then and the first leg of the Roma game so rotation wasn’t possible.

If top four is sewn up by then we can rest/ preotect some players for the likes of Woodburn. There’s then an extended break until the final so hopefully no injuries between now and the final and top four secured.

There is 2 weeks between the last league game and the final I think resting players would be wrong 3 weeks without a game could bring rustiness.

I think a number of persons on the site will suffer from shock the day negativeredwalter makes a neutral comment. If he makes a positive one, maybe heart attack.

Come on guys be fair to Walter - he's negative. He tells you up front. It's right in the name - negativeredwalter. Unlike some, he's not telling you it's his scientific interpretation or he has access to some special knowledge. He's not telling you you're an idiot for not agreeing with him or that you're wrong to believe different. It's just him being him.

Being a Liverpool fan is bloody stressful and some fans find managing the stress easier if they look at the worst case scenario and train themselves (or don't fight their natural inclination to) accept that. And that's okay, takes all sorts to make a village and I'm sure if we win, Walter will be twice as delighted as the rest of us because he never saw it coming.

When you guys finally realize Walter is not a liverpool supporter then you will all laugh at his posts like I do
No true supporter always backs his team to lose in any walk of life this does not happen.
Walter I agree with you mate, Liverpool will never ever win another game and we will lose every match by last nights score
there you go walter just call me DOWNBEAT JOHN we called be a tag team if you want mate, called the Defeatist Duo.

I don't think we were outplayed, we were clearly just trying to keep things compact and see out the tie without busting a gut. Two of their goals were flukes as well. So it's pretty cool that we managed to win despite Roma having all the luck. Maybe we'll even a pen for handball in Madrid's box.

I’d hate to be your Mrs, Walter!
I tell you what, if you want to see which team won last night, re watch the end when you had Milner falling to his knees exhausted but extatic we were through to the final and De Rossi crying in anguish. You may then realise we were playing in White last night and actually won the tie! They may have won the battle but we certainly won the war!
Last night was the second half of the semi final, we won the game in the first half at Anfield last week. Last night was a breeze, once we scored we were never in danger, the whole score line flattered them and it was a lot more comfortable then the score suggests.
Lighten up a bit mate.
