Ed001 for you if you are out there. What do you think how much of an impact did the salah substitution had on the late goals we conceded. I think their defenders and midfielders were on toes until salah was subbed and as soon as he left i felt the became comfortable and confident with their passing and possession.

{Ed001's Note - it was nothing to do with Salah. Easy to blame that but it wasn't due to him. It was down to it being 5-0 and everyone relaxing and the press dropping off.}

You do have to wonder how big a game has to be before our players choose to pay attention for the full 90 minutes.

{Ed001's Note - it is not really a lack of attention. More a case of some players continuing to play the full press while others were dropping off and looking to just see out the game. The players need to sort that out between themselves on the pitch, the same way they sort out the triggers for a press in most games. It is something that comes with experience.}

Wasn't it just a couple of individual mistakes? One from Lovren who didn't push up when the other 3 defenders tried to play offside, and neither did he get close to Dzeko. And second from referee for a very harsh penalty.

It was a strange last 25 minutes all round. At ine point it looked like Roma had just given up and the Liverpool players didn’t really know what to do. The 2 goals is a bitter pill to swallow, but swallow it we must. Although I just can’t see them beating us by 3 unanswered, you never know in football and we can’t take anything for granted.

Agreed with Ed001 that after the 5th goal, the intensity of the team was unequal throughout the team. Our front three were still pressing, but the midfield dropped out and long balls, crosses started arriving into the box.

For the 1st goal, as the ball was launched, I immediately thought 'where's the midfield? '. Similarly for the penalty given, why was Milner where he was?

Nonetheless, Lovern did appear shaky after the 5th goal. You could sense a mistake in him because somehow he seemed to lose that authoritativeness he had for the previous 70mins. Strange one.

Spot on, Ed. The press was not working in the first 25 mins which made Roma take control co it was being done not a a group. When that got fixed, the floodgates opened. Same thing in the last 10. The press was being done by some and not by others hence, caught in two minds. This allowed Roma more time on the ball in midfield as seen when Nainngolan had all the time and space to float that peach to Dzeko to score. He had had NO such time for all the second half as Hendo was in his face.

As for blaming the goals on Salah's substitution, that is the typical low hanging fruit that is not worth debating, as Ed alluded to. If the players cannot figure thing out hen 5-0 up and if you can't take Salah off at 5-0 then, that is a much bigger problem cos the manager cannot hold the players' hand all the time.

Personally wouldn't have taken salah off just because we were getting at them so much maybe could of ended it 5-0 of 6-0, but that is easy to say in hindsight. As with previous games we know when we step off the gas and teams come at us, liable to conceded goals. So from personally i'd rather just keep going as they can't score if we are attacking with the all.

Lovren got caught, should have done better, but then I can't remember who passed it over, mangalan? Probably spelt wrong, was a beauty of a pass tbf.

Wasn't a pen for me seem to hit milner in the stomach. Very harsh.

2 chances I still think about the mane one i think he should have squared to Salah and Wjnaldum.

Also thought trent was onside and looked a simple ball into salah if he was.

So on another night it could have been easy 7-0 rather than 5-2. Even though salah went off the boys should have kept up the with the pressure but been highlighted before some players were pressing some where just seeing the game out and dropping off. Agree with BR's statement also, I know i said i wouldn't take off Salah personally however if you can't take him off 5-0 up then that's a problem.

We know Roma have been solid at home these past games, but Chelsea made Barcelona look average when they played at home, i haven't seen the Roma/ barca game, but someone mentioned how poor Barcelona were. If we turn up i can see us getting at least 1 goal. I think 1 is enough. I am still a bit dissapointed with letting in 2 late goals. As it stil shows how we let games get away from us, like we have done so many times. But 3 goals up is a good place to be. We just have to stay organised and do what we did against City, YNWA.

Our players looked really tired to me after 75 mins, might be because they just decided to not press as much but to me they looked completely knackered.

I thought we just ran out of gas and our concentration levels dropped as a result.

I agree with Klopp, I think we’ll win in Rome too.

The players lost focus and concentration once 5 nil up. Klopp hopefully has given them a dressing down coz letting Roma score twice means we have to go full strength in Rome with a threadbare first 11. Nothing to do with Salah being substituted.

Spot on, Alistair, Ron, Cesar and the rest. All the factors you all posted, were all involved in how we conceded two goals and NOTHING to do with the false argument of "Salah should not have come off" stuff. Good to see that many of us are seeing things from a wider perspective.
