Going back to the 2008/ 09 season Liverpool up to the 8th of April - Liverpool have had 28 penalties given against them. Chelsea have had 12.

12 - that’s just 12 pens in 9 seasons in the premier league.

How on earth do you work that out?

And you cannot say that the most attacking teams get the most pens. Liverpool have had 3 this season and we are probably the best attacking side in the league behind City. Palace have the most with 9 then Everton 8.
Make of this what you will but If you look at the stats I think refereeing has a massive part to play in the outcome of games. Liverpool have had the most given against us compared with all the so-called top 6 going back 10 years.

Yesterday was yet another example of refereeing costing us points. We have had 10 points taken away from us from the direct result of referring decisions this season, it’s impossible to calculate the indirect ones, free kick cos outside the box / 50/ 50 challenges but I suspect the stats aren’t in our favour. We had the rub in the Champions league v City without a doubt but I’m not holding my breath for a decision going out way in the premier league.

Refereeing got us into the CL semi finals.

{Ed001's Note - did it? I thought the fact that they never registered a single shot on target in the first leg had a lot to do with it personally. And that they folded in the second half of the second as they ran out of legs also had a lot to do with it. Obviously I must have been mistaken that the better side, by a margin, went through because they were the better side.}

That is singlehandedly the most foolish comment I have ever read on this great site
the fact we scored 5 and they scored one had no part right?
How do some people call themselves supporters is beyond me
support your team not spout silly comments c'mon it is easy to do.

Hegazi and Dawson should both have been sent off for assaulting Ings off the ball.

Faithinworks we won fair and square 5-1 over the two legs, that's not a bit of referee luck, we outplayed them, it had bugger all to do with refereeing, well maybe it did, we could've won by a larger margin should City of got the numerous red cards they deserved. We fully deserve to be in the semis and that's down to how the team performed.

While I agree we outplayed City and fully deserved to go through, there were decisions that went against City. 2 offside goals disallowed incorrectly, but there was also Ederson who could have easily been sent off.
In terms of penalties, decisions can go against you or for you, and even if that's wrong, I enjoy it. It creates debate which makes football interesting.

{Ed001's Note - Otamendi could easily have been sent off as well, and their players made numerous, repeated, yellow card offence fouls that were not punished. The decisions were not in favour of Liverpool at all.}

Faith, I love your posts normally, BUT here, you are talking utter nonsense. How on this earth do you reckon that we made the CL semis due to a ref decision in 180mins whereas City only registered ONE shot on target in open play in that time span? Did the refs give us the FIVE goals we scored vs them or did that all happen legally in open play? If any team has taken advantage of ref bias in the CL, it is Real and before them, Barca. Please, stop that crap ASAP. We won, fair and square and by the way, this is the PL, and not the CL.

We lost yesterday to poor defending from set pieces once again and they caused us problems all afternoon with their crosses. Whilst I do agree Klopp’s rotation strategy has kept players fresh, for me, the back 4 needs to stay the same.

When West Brom came from behind and beat us in the fa cup I bet that was because of the ref as well. Yes the ref was poor yesterday and got lots wrong but I can't remember him scoring 2 for West Brom or forcing us to defend like a Sunday league team. We didn't win, it happens. Let's not be that team that hide behind excuses all the time and let's just move onto the next game and put it right.

Isn’t it ironic that we (English press and many fans) vehemently criticise a snubbed handshake, a complaint about a decision or a playing surface as a lack of class on one hand and yet applaud managers and teams that go out to purposely kick and injure the opposition? Perverted logic that.

Switching to being serious for a second - if someone can find the science that proves we are more. Hard done by than others then I'd love to read it! Until then, the ref thing is a factor but for me going to conspiracies starts to makes us sound a little sour grapes. I was joking about my the ref getting us thru to the semis, but ya'll must be joking if ya don't think we benefitted from some favorable calls. Take em and run I say. got to Suck em up at the other end tho.
