Couldn't put a figure on it . But surely a world record fee . Certainly one of the most gifted players we've had in the red jersey.

Fantastic. Had the pleasure of seeing him live from the Kop once or twice. Amazing compilation. It's clear that what ever any player in modern football has done, Digger did it already! (That scissor kick! )

Totally agree, amazing player (and not too shabby a rapper ;-) )

He was the English equivalent of Maradonna with the strength AND the skill, IMO.

In Top Five Liverpool players ever. Wonderfully skilled, brave and with such a footballing brain. He lit up Anfield so often with his fantastic play. In another world he might have gone on to manage the team in a succession after The King but it wasn’t to be.

I started supporting Liverpool early 80s and i used love digger. He could dribble and shoot with that left foot much like our Egyptian king of today💪.

This Man is the sole purpose I started supporting Liverpool all those years ago
My all time fave player followed by Rob Jones
What a player Barnes was one of the best never to be fully appreciated by the England fans sadly.

When you mention John Barnes, surely you got to mention Peter Beardsley too! Btw when I see John Barnes video, i thought Ojo had a similar style.

Amazing player. Was my hero as a kid. I think he has been a bit under estimated of late. I agree, one of the best players to have played here, or anywhere. Showed the Brazilians how it's done!

Yeah, he was awesome. My all time favourite LFC player, i just don't think he was fully appreciated (apart from by LFC fans) . In today's world he'd be talked about, in my opinion, in the same breath as Messi and Ronaldo.

I was directly behind that Scissor Kick.

We were away to Blackburn, and at the time I lived pretty much across the road from Ewood Park.
