Excuse the ignorance here but have a wierd question. say we get to final on 26th, Ramadan starts on 16th may. Will it not affect mo's performance?

{Ed002's Note - No, he will make minor adjustments to his diet, as will Mane and the others who observe such matters. In the same way he has to train and occasionally play on the Thursday/Friday Sabbath. This is true for many, many, many other players. No different to Christians on Sundays, Star Trek fans on Thursdays, Jews/Seventh Day Adventists on Friday/Saturday and no doubt others who are also easily led that I don't recall right now.}

Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster, or Pastafarianism on a Saturday night.

Does minor adjustment mean not eating for the most of the day ed haha, and whoo Ramadan has come early this year.

{Ed002's Note - Ramadam is a movable feast, like lunch. He won't binge on spam fritters but will likely still eat the usual stuff soccer players do. Any changes will be minor.}

Thanks for the reply ed, my enquiry is not so much what he's eating as it's probably all chef prepared food using best sports nutrition to make sure he gets the best protein, carbs and macros etc, it's more the timing, in the summer ramadan fasting does last longer throughout the day (something like 3am to around 9am was the par for last year) so when you say minor changes do you refer to timing or content. I think the Algeria 2014 world cup team played while fasting, I'm capable of playing while fasting but it's a killer waiting to break the fast after haha!

{Ed002's Note - No, he will adjust the timing. Players with quirks, be they religious, fussy, odd shaped bodily parts etc., need to suck it up and get on with it if they want a workable career. Else they need to stay in Countries who run leagues that adhere to their fickleness. Clubs are typically respectful of those wishing to worship, watch Star Trek or whatever - and they provide floor space and televisions as required. What they cannot do is allow all of these odd bods to disrupt matters. Clubs are not keen on players seeking any religious (or Star Trek) related clauses in their contracts - and it does happen. Avram Grant is a great example of someone who is pragmatic, he is a keen RSP but knows that his career would have been way different if he didn’t work Shabbat. If Salah were to go to Klopp (a very, very religious guy), and said, “Kafir, I cannot play in the Champions League final, I am too weak. I think you need to respect my religion”, I suspect Klipperty would explain the truth.}

There are ways around it with some top imams suggesting making up the fast days at a different time if not making the athletes immune al together.

{Ed002's Note - And hobgoblins and wizards no doubt.}

I doubt Salah will do that! I mean it's a Drem for all footballers right? If somehow Salah scores the highest amount of goals in world cup for Egypt I suspect he might become world player of the year😃.

You don't have to fast when you're traveling. Champions league final is not in Liverpool so he won't need to fast on the day.

Its a 7 45 kick off fasting is from sunrise to sunset. This won't be his first ramadan during football season and im sure he knows perfectly how to adjust his routine.

In some cases sportsman do not fast on that particular day and make up for it later.

But I would not worry about it, him Mane Klopp and the whole coaching staff will know what to do. This will not be, as they say, their first rodeo.

Ed002 is a sorcerer (as we have seen over the years) so clearly not a fan of religion. He's actually a witch if you observe carefully.
