Cracking write up Ed. I think you're a little harsh on Wijnaldum as City made most of the team look abysmal in that first half and I thought he was as good as anyone else in the team 2nd half. But that's the beauty of football we all see and think different things.

{Ed001's Note - cheers mate, but I disagree, it was not just his play, it was his effort that was abysmal in the first half. I can accept a poor performance when the player tries but he was a passenger and watching the game.}

Great review Ed001, wholeheartedly agree regarding the Ederson red card - why are the media so keen to talk about the offside while not mentioning Ederson once?

But, I saw the first half sitting back as less a deliberate strategy by Klopp and more something that was mostly out of his control. City completely pinned us back and we did not have the quality in midfield to deal with it. Thankfully we are now solid enough defensively to nullify City’s attack somewhat, really limiting their shots on target. Think this team is really starting to show a lot of personality too, whileperhaps City were shown to be lacking it? They certainly seemed to suffer without Pep on the touch line pulling their strings.

Brilliant review ed as always. I really look forward to these write ups and totally agree again with what you have said. Wijnaldum was non existent in the first half and that amazes me in such a game. Van Dyke was silly with that mistake and surely he will learn from it- someone at the club must spend time discussing these issues?
Couple of points ed: I thought Trent was struggling originally but he is showing some great maturity for his age especially in the first half slowing the game down when there was an issue with the ball with 20thousand citeh fans having a go at him. He also turned his performance round for me.
Also Van Dyke should not have done what he did for the first goal but why was it not a foul?
Lastly how many times did Sterling dive and at least go down far too early. He should have been sent off and booked twice in addition but got nothing?
Anyway great result! So happy!

{Ed001's Note - I do agree, I probably should have mentioned the diving but there was so much of it that it seemed pointless getting into it from a Liverpool perspective.}

Spot on with everything again ed. You really do have a good understanding of the game mate. Absolute on the money.

"the only 'disappointment' I can think of about his performance yesterday was that he had to look to slot the ball home into that millimetre of space. "

I love this line! Tehehe.

{Ed001's Note - thank you MrS.}

Great write up Ed. Thank you.

I have to say, it seems to me that reds are rarely forthcoming for the aggressive conduct as displayed by Ederson. Do you feel that it is not enforced strictly enough.

{Ed001's Note - usually that kind of thing does result in a red in Spain, that is why I am surprised.}

Didn’t jack Stephens get a red card for pushing jack wheelchair in the face on Sunday? I didn’t take much notice of the edision incident until ed01 mentioned it today.

Great review that Ed probably one of my favourites, I agree especially in regards to Wijnaldum, he frustrates me, there's more to him yet he just wasn't showing any quality at all. At these stages I feel he's simply not good enough for us.

{Ed001's Note - with a better quality midfield around him, he will have to raise his game or not get a game, so we will get to see if he is capable of doing so. Hopefully next season. If he doesn't raise his game then we can replace him the following summer.}

I didn't want to bring it up after an all round positive result. But I am glad to see you have Ed001 re Wijnaldum.

There was a moment that made me sick about 20 mins into that first half. Ball from back out to Robertson, he cuts inside running toward the centre slips a ball past 2/ 3 chasing a couple yards ahead of Wijnaldum.

He didn't react at all and city picked the ball up. I was angry then as big game get your head on but not the worst thing in the world. From there he stood and watched the city player just run away from him with no attempt to press. The ball is played forward he turns and walks/ half jogs back while city break at our defence. Ox and especially milner burst guts from much farther forward to try and get back. I honestly can't remember how we defended the chance or what happened as I was disgusted with what I'd just seen from wijnaldum in that holding role there. That complete lack of effort or desire (especially when your mistake lead to possession turnover) I can not stand. Something I have seen at united in some games but didn't think I'd see it at Liverpool this season in a game of that magnitude. At this moment I really worried for us. Get hendo back asap!

{Ed001's Note - spot on mate.}

Great review Ed01

At one point last night in the 2nd half City broke through and our midfield was out of position. Debruyne had the ball in midfield was running in on Van Dijk, City's attackers starting making their runs into the box. Bobby had spotted the danger, had sprinted all the way back and tackled Debruyne, winning the ball back. Not noticed by commentators but huge for the team. As he jogged back Van Dijk was applauding him. He does that work and then slots a goal like that. Awesome player.

{Ed001's Note - he is the key to everything we have done this season.}

Am I the only one who thought that VVD was fouled by Sterling before City scored? Yes he was slack in clearing the ball and it was his fault but he was clearly shoved in the back as he cleared the ball, that was a free kick all day long.

14.) 11 Apr 2018
11 Apr 2018 18:41:35
Great review ed1. I actually felt for the city goal that karius was pretty culprable too. VVD was obviously going to be under pressure close to his goal (as was lovren) . Why didn’t karius just kick it higher up the pitch?

Admittedly VVD could have the handled the whole situation better but I didn’t think he should have been put in it.

{Ed001's Note - I am sorry but that is utter bollox. There was one person at fault and it was not Karius. It was all van Dijk that messed that up and people should stop trying to blame Karius for doing what he is meant to do, play the ball out to a player who was not under pressure, except of his own making.}

15.) 11 Apr 2018
11 Apr 2018 18:43:06
Ed1, any mention anywhere of Sterling kicking out at VVD. I thought it was blatant and very obvious, real nasty in my opinion.

{Ed001's Note - I have seen nothing but he is English and playing for the messiah so the media are never going to give him grief.}

Just as a reply to Fitzy, I noticed that work by Firmino too. I assume we have different announcers, but the American announcers were all over that and loved the effort. I just wanted to let you know that at least a few announcers were giving him the rightful praise, haha.

That being said, don't tell the rest of my office about me noticing it. It was only about 4:00 in the afternoon here, haha.

Thanks ed. Enjoyed that read. I think that really summed up wijnaldum seaaon. He is capable but seems lazy and devoid of any ideas. I like you hope that extra competition makes him raise his game.

Despite his error and my scepticism when he joined I have been really been i. pressed with van djik. He wins everything he goes for and his long balls are much better than I thought. Hopefully he irons out these lapses in concentration.

Front 3 again almost perfect again. Hold onto them and improvement in midfield and we might really be able to challenge next season. I must say what is the point of commentators? They don't point out any movements that are not shown on camera, they just seem to say a players name. You really need a job on BT ed!

{Ed001's Note - the commentators are awful these days, they don't tell you anything you can't see easily yourself. The worst is Beglin, he never sees anything until 20min later when someone has clearly had a word in his ear and told him about something.}

18.) 11 Apr 2018
11 Apr 2018 20:06:07
Agree exactly with Wiji, it's crying for him to show us his dribbling and passing skills and hold onto the ball yet he kept giving it away, I felt Mane could have done a little more to avoid otamendi but did really well not to rise up to Edersens bait, main issue above all is we were very lucky Sane's goal was ruled out for offside, it was a poor decision and punch by Karius but had it been 2-0 it may have very well been them going through, but at the end of the day it's our name that's going to be drawn out on Friday so let's party like we're invincible!

19.) 11 Apr 2018
11 Apr 2018 20:20:23
scapegoat alert! Liverpool didn't play bad, it was all wijnaldums fault. I would understand if he was at fault for a goal or something but we played bad in the first half because of the team performance. Its not like he cost us multiple goals like arnold did a few weeks ago. I can't really blame anyone for the bad performance (first half) last night. couple little individual mistake here and there but ultimately we just weren't set up for cities attack but we figured it out in the end. lesson learnt and I doubt city will ever try that tactic again. I hope they do though because they will get destroyed. City are going to have a hard time next season I think.

11 Apr 2018 20:21:28
87red, you are really reaching here, lad. Karius did absolutely nothing wrong cos VVD had enough time to deal with the issue after the throw out even tho, I think he was still fouled by the pathetic Sterling. Karius was solid yesterday under pressure and that is the reality.

21.) 11 Apr 2018
11 Apr 2018 20:19:31
Great view, Ed. A few things. Ederson is a thug and had I been Mane, I would have flattened that thug had he shoved me that many times. The only reason he thinks he can do that is cos his manager sets the tone, a self entitled and arrogant crybaby. Thankfully, Mane is a better man than I am. As for arrogant and insolent crybaby and City, you pretty much nailed it and his disgusting attitude and conduct rightfully got his insolent arse sent to the stands where he belongs. Dreadful attitude really.

As for VVD tho, I have a problem with your assessment on the foul or no foul issue. For full disclosure, I am not his fan and all his flaws need to be ironed out. However, that shove in the back by Sterling was a blatant foul as that caused him to miscue his clearance. Also, I agree that he should have taken control of the situation much earlier. In essessence, I am saying that two things can be correct at the same time. VVD should have dealt with it earlier and Sterling clearly fouled him. The ref was poor on both sides and IMO, that goal he allowed on the VVD incident and the goal the linesman disallowed for City kind of shows that. As for the other refs in the areas, they have been of no use for years. Thanks for all you do, man.

{Ed001's Note - the foul he was complaining about was not the shove though. Very welcome.}

Great review eds
I thought while watching the first half are we just let’s them run them selfs out and will we come out second half fire on all cilinders but I was never really convinced klopp would use this as a tactic if that’s what we did then am amazed.
(Also first half was horrible to watch I totally lost my voice shouting gini to close down)
I got to give a massive shout out to Milner and the ox the both looked knackered at half time but still ran and ran and ran. The ox is turning into a brilliant buy.
Thanks for taking the time to do these reviews eds oh and the daily reviews 👌🏻.

Ed you're reviews are getting better and better like an ageing wine, that review was excellent, loved the cash money $terling line 😂.

I just liked how we didn't have to really get out of second gear to beat the so called best team in the world for the third time this season.

And like you ed, i think klopp has really matured since he has been here and is becoming a really top notch coach. I don't think he gets enough credit for what he has done/ is doing at this club.

On a bright note, kanes plea to the fa got him his goal, well done that man😂 shame it will be no use to him though.

{Ed001's Note - thank you mate.}

Duly noted Ed. However if he complained about the first shove which to me, was nothing serious, is it not the job of the ref to sanction the blatant shove which was a foul then? The reason I am curious is that many talk about the first one which was not a foul BUT ignore the blatant shove that everyone saw and the ref chose to ignore.

{Ed001's Note - it is up to the ref but he decided it wasn't a foul. It is irrelevant anyway, the point is van Dijk had already made the error by not clearing the ball into touch or to Robbo because he stopped and whined.}

Great review Ed001.
Glad someone agrees with me that VVD was at fault for the goal. Stevie G on BT was blaming Karius for a poor pass onto his left side. Media in this country seem to have it in for Karius, critisied several things he did last night, yet again.

{Ed001's Note - there was nothing wrong with the pass, the only reason there was a problem was because van Dijk stopped.}
