No player is ever bigger than the football club!

We should accept a huge bid from Barcelona if forthcoming. It's not as if LFC haven't benefited from PC.

Let the lad move on, he wants to go so let him! Players come and go - end of! No point LFC playing high n mighty - we are guilty of own misdemeanours in the transfer market.

I don't think PC is the villain in this at all - yes he hasn't covered himself in glory especially after how he committed his long term future to us in Jan - but equally the club shouldn't paint him out to be a villain as an excuse to accept an offer from
Barca.

He isn't worth over £100m anyway - the amount of times he has gone missing in games is more than we think when analysed - he's had 2 good seasons at best!

Ergo - LFC make a tidy profit and buy a couple of top players, Barcelona happy they'll get their target and PC happy he can play for the club of his desire.

Football players are transient commodities - the club is always there - it's the club we support not the individual players - and it's just business that he wants to move.

who exactly are those couple of top players? this late in transfer window with everyone knowing we have the money? with clubs realising they don't need to sell and that only sky is the limit in terms of fees. no thanks. cou can go to Barcelona once we buy 2 class players like keita and VVD and find his replacment and seems that club is doing that!

The reality is that He is a great player but by no means world class at this point. I have no problem selling him if we can replace him but the fact is we can't so tough.

Considering he signed 4 years ago, considering his wages, bonuses etc I'd question if his quoted original fee and making more than that has any real relevance other than to fans. If the club can afford to turn down what it has and can make bids quoted for Keita etc plus afford the potential wages, it would seem the club is fine financially at the moment (assuming those running it aren't total idiots) .

Then don't sign a 5yr contract! Southampton and Leipzig have shown us the way! If you want to improve you build on what you have. If a player wants a move then the club needs adequate time to find replacement. This has all been said many times this summer. Your lengthy post trying to justify the sale of one of our best players to one of our champions league rivals is baffling. Let the club decide when and who to sell. It's their money so when fans decide what is a tidy profit it makes me laugh!

If we keep Coutinho our chances of winning trophies is higher. Trophies attract quality players.

We don't have enough time to buy those top players you are dreaming unless you pay way way over the tops! More
Over there is a good bunch of KNOWLEDGEBLE fans outside who will take this opportunity to riot against the owners! This is complicated!

{Ed002's Note - other clubs have time, is the transfer window closing early for Liverpool?}

Move on M06, what will be will be, we have more things to worry about than Couts' future 😜.

I agree that no player is bigger than the club. However we have shown that we have not prepared for Coutinho leaving even though we have had the time to do so. Regarding his lack of consistency, he is still a relatively young player a couple of years away from his prime and he seems to gain more consistency each season. That said I agree we should not keep an unhappy player but if he can be swayed to stay and give his all then I feel he will be invaluable to us this season.

10 goals scored in 4 games. If only we had Coutinho to end this goal drought 🙄

Let him leave. Sign a centre back and let' do this!

We've seen with Barcelona how much clubs increase transfer fees when you have the money.
If we sell PC, yes we'll have £130m+ but whoever we buy to replace or strengthen the squad will come at a higher price anyway.
We won't benefit from selling him. Keep him. Add to the squad as we were hoping to do anyway and challenge for trophies this season. Let him go next season.

If the bid is £80m up front and £30m over three years plus clauses based on champions league appearances then I would go for it and sell him, then go and make the big bucks bids for Keita and Van Dijk, bring in Insigne to like-for-like replacement for him and then let's just get on with things.

Ed02, Do you think 7 days are enough for us to find a replacement. Negotiate and sign him! 😳 Considering how slow we are in negotiations!

{Ed002's Note - Of course. Other clubs are doing a great deal of business and there are significant transfers in hand. Even as I type there are club representatives meeting agents and other clubs today.}

Come on man. In the fierce competition that is the premier league, we are going to need every competitive advantage we can get, and Coutinho is one of those. Lallana is also out till November, so having a creative and lethal outlet from midfield isn't such a bad idea either.

Make a tidy profit so we can buy players? We don't need the profit to buy players! We were already happy to spend 70m on Keita before a bid for Coutinho even came in! Why use that money to find players like Coutinho when we already have him?!
