Following Ed001's confirmation that we are interested in some capacity in Raul Jiminez I just wanted to comment on him. Of all the forwards we've been reportedly watching he is one I would love to sign. Not seen him at all in Portugal but I did see him a fair bit during his brief stint in Spain. Back then he was a sensational young talent; one who I did previously recommend about 2 or 3 years ago even. But he was a bit part player at a top European side, showing lots of skill and consistent improvement.

On his time in Portugal I can only go off of his decent goal scoring record and highlight reels, but he looks to have matured and learned the all important skill of making the right runs! There are not many players we've been linked with that have excited me, but this guy is the exception! Capable of playing various forward positions, he would be a great asset. My only worry is how we would keep 6 forwards happy when we only use 3 at time. It would very much be in view to us competing in Europe next season so perhaps it is better to wait until the summer when we know that is guaranteed! Jimenez could be as popular as Torres and Suarez were though!

{Ed001's Note - I wouldn't get your hopes up mate, they will not sell cheap.}

It's a dim hope rather than a blind expectation ;) don't worry Ed haha! I'm not going to lose any sleep in in February our only business is selling Ilori to Reading!

{Ed001's Note - you have a new baby, you will be losing sleep!}

We can sign him if we sell Sturridge. You can't start a CL campaign with Origi as your lone striker.

I think that's a good shout we definitely need another forward player yes we have ojo woodburn etc but we don't want them getting burnt out before the age of 23. Personally id like gabigol as I feel couts and firmino woukd be great mentors.

Gabigol`s attitude stinks hence, the reason Inter want rid. No, thanks!

So Harry, are we selling Firmino? While i appreciate you are somewhat fixated by set roles, i am not sure what Robbie needs to do to be recognised as a striker/ forward.

I'd be happy to play against anyone with Firmino and Origi as my striker options.

Andy

Robbie can't score without Coutinho is what many says here and Coutinho future us up in the air lol😎.

Does Firmino also disappear into thin air if Coutinho leaves Harry? Regardless of whether Coutinho stays or not, Firmino and Ings will be other options to Origi and Sturridge.

Countinho and firmino has to be sold as a combo. Hope the management realise this

Of course Lee, because Firmino is clearly incapable of playing football with anyone in the world apart from Coutinho (or learning)

1 goal in 9 games is looking like a bleak stat for a player who was banging in goals up down and enter. One main issue being played out wide to accommodate a central striker. We don't have natural wide forwards hence we play everyone on that position except Mane. let it be Origi, Firmino or Sturridge the results are the same.
Ineffective!

{Ed001's Note - hmmmm only Sturridge has been 'ineffective' there. Origi and Firmino have both played well, just not at the level they do when central. If you had not seen them play centrally, you would be fine with them wide.}

Anyone could play there but you can't expect goals which is what a wide forward brings to you like Mane. More than goals the attribute itself.
Both could work their socks off but that is just one part of your game.

Harry,

I think there are a few more factors to consider. Bobby got injured and has struggled to get back to the great form he was showing at the start. Add to that the couts idea that Ed1 suggested and the whole team not being as effective as before, it paints a broader picture than you suggest.

{Ed001's Note - they create chances, even when they aren't scoring, but Harry only sees that they work hard. I don't get it. It doesn't matter who scores the goals.}

The question was about the goals Ed01. So I replied in that context and he is not as effective playing wide out. He is good between the CB's and that's a fact.

{Ed001's Note - if you say so, but you were the one saying the opposite when he was playing up top, so I will ignore your words as you can't show any perspective. Whatever is done you moan like a spoilt child about it and say it should be different.}

Some need to give their heads a right good shake. We're 5pts off top after 20 games so bobbis had his dry patch but we compensated, how many goals did we score in those 9? And now couts is back full training as is studge, origi n lallana flying. There's no issue here people lmo
