Regardless of the result there were some interesting points that came out of last nights performance. Firstly I think was quite aparant how much we missed Gini in midfield. Unfortunately for Can, Hendo has got the deep sitting midfielder role sewn up and I think it was very apparent that Can was not mobile enough to pull of his role. He got caught way to many times lacking enough pace and the ability turn a distribute the ball effectively. Although he improved in the second half I'm pretty certain Can will either have to work hard on acceleration and stamina or have to accept he's only a squad player now.

Another one is sturridge. Although he is obviously a fantastic forward with natural finishing abilities I think he's going to struggle to get game time when everyone is fit. Pressing just does not seem to be his game and against top clubs that will effect our overall ability to play our system. I could easily see him being allowed to leave in the summer which is a shame as I rate him. Just don't think he's compatible to klopps system.

Lastly I find it highly satisfying knowing that after spending ridiculous amounts of money on players Man U are now the ones that are happy with a draw. Years gone by have seen Man U ride the tide during the first half and then nick a second half winner. Glad to see we didn't collapse and concede when things weren't going our way. As klopp said in pre match interview, we're not an experienced side but we're becoming experienced. Hopefully we're becoming a team that can ride out the tough games and come away with a result. Onwards and upwards.

Couldn't agree more.

Agree on most of that but Can was in his first game back after a pretty long time out, he was definitely rusty but obviously a bit behind the rest of the ram both in fitness and understanding. Wini's quick transitions and attack support was certainly missed.

Its obvious Klopp rates him highly.

Think sturridge will be gone and probably abroad come January he doesn't suit this play and because we're not playing to his strengths he is struggling i also think Ings would of been perfect for that match. One question Steven Gerrard did drag liverpool to some good cup wins but why do the kop have to sing that Gerrard song Dalgliesh has done more and i don't hear songs about him or other legends i'd rather a song naming all our greats. Lot of respect for what he did but its a song that's not going to lift the team and especially when the team we're up against change the lyrics to.

Spot on, Nafe. I do think Can was rusty and it was obvious that he needs match sharpness. As for Studge, many have said he doesn`t fit the way Klopp wants his strikers to play and yesterday was evidence of that. The difference was clear when Firmino moved in there and lallana was put on. He will struggle IMO and it will be a matter of time before he is shipped out even tho, I expect that he will get chances to prove many of us wrong. As for Utd and Mou, Fergie must be puking in his mouth and swallowing it at the same time with the tripe his club served up last night. The most expensive team ever assembled literally played like a bottom feeder club just happy to not get smashed. And some of their fans are trying to spin it as a masterclass. If that was a masterclass, what should we label Pep who on the road at OT, put out a clinic on how modern day football should be played against Mou or Klopp who went against the same Moou last season at the Bridge needing a win and not only went for it, he got it by playing fluid football and smashing his team to tiny bits hence, contributing to his sacking? LVG would have been sacked this morning after that disaster but because it`s Mou, the fans and media give him a pass. Pathetic!

@swishcleaner. Yeah totally understand he's been out with an injury and still lacking match fitness. However, his playing style doesn't offer the attributes gini gives and the position he plays. If anything I think it was just a case of injuries forced klopp into playing him there. In most cases I think he's battling it out with hendo for the deep lying midfield position but again think it unlikely he'll oust hendo. I must admit I was one of those that questioned ginis signing however last night showed how much pace we lack in midfield without him.

I agree Can was a bit rusty but I think having no Lallana and Couts playing deeper had a bigger impact.
I was actually happy with Cans forced inclusion as i'd thought we'd need his extra physicality and height against Pogs and elbows. Think he did ok in that respect but he his slow transition in receiving the ball and moving it on cost us some chances of a quick counter. Wini is much more effective in this area.
But Can does bring those forward bursts to the fore. Which did seem to unsettle the opposition a bit and draw them out of position. Sometimes these runs were our main threat, particularly in the 1st half.
All in all I'm glad he's back and i'm certainly looking forward to seeing him regain match sharpness.

Dalglish is our greatest ever player imo.
But he was part of probably the finest British team ever.
In Stevies era unfortunately the club picked wrong owners and some poorer managers.
Gerards loyalty to his boyhood club showed his star quality when he could have had his pick of any club in Europe.
And he was the driving force all through through all the earlier rounds for Istanbul.
He's still a local fan made good who is grateful to the club.
That strikes a huge chord with LFC fans who are the best in the world.

{Ed041's Note - Dalglish was amaing and could play and win title in any era for me mate

Hi ed41.
I agree with you 100% about Dalglish.

But I also think that Gerrard would have been good enough to play in any era.
Tks.
