Hi Eds

As much as I consider myself the biggest Sturridge fan over the last 3 seasons, I think he has been backtracking with regards to his performances and confidence infront of goal.
Now with the upcoming derby coming fast, we need to have a front man who has a little more sting keeping in mind that United probably have the best goalie in the league. To be quite frank with y`all, Danny would be my last pick behind firmino, origi and ings in that order.
I love Danny as a striker, I really do and on his day he`s probably the best in the league only behind Aguero but on current form plus adding the magnitude of the next match we have to drop him. We simply can't afford to lose against our dear brothers ;-)

Now question remains, what does the manager do to try and bring the old sturridge back? I think that he should be a definite starter atleast for the next 3 fixtures after the united game - west brom, palace and watford. If he fails to perform then surely he has to be dropped permanently and let firmino, origi and ings fight it out for the position.
Thats my opinion mates.

Cheers Guys!

For me, its Sturridge or Firmino every game when we play a single striker. Origi is pushing hard and getting close. i'd like to see Origi and/ or Ings in cup games and when there's an injury they get their chance to nail down the striker role permanently.

Klopp is not playing a system to suit the old Sturridge, he's trying to build a new system which is interchangeabe between the front three. the onus is on creating space for each other and running into the gaps. i don't think we'll see the same huge tallies again from 1 striker like we have in the past, he expects the whole team to take the opportunities created by that front 3. Him 'performing' won't be solely judged on his goals but more so his contribution as a whole .

Calm down mate, you've jumped the gun. Forgetting that Bobby will almost certainly start anyway the old Studge hasn't gone anywhere. Since he came back from injury he's re-affirmed his place as Liverpool's best goal scorer, although he hasn't scored in the league yet this season it's only been a short dry spell as opposed to a sign that he's lost it. Furthermore, with the exception of the Burnley game, Liverpool have been excellent when he's played. The problem for Studge is that Klopp wants more from his No.9 than just goals and that's why Bobby currently holds the position. I reckon Studge is coming to terms with this and I think I've seen signs of him working for the team more when he plays, it is way too early to write him off.

I think we have looked most dangerous when studge has played actually.
He might not be getting the goals but his movement and presence keep half the defence occupied while the likes of firmino, mane, coutinho and Lallana take full advantage.
It's clear he isn't fully match fit yet, but he still looks class and is helping the team create and get goals.

I do understand what your saying but he really is making a difference, I think what it is with a lot of people is they look at a striker and the goal tally and then immediately judge. he brings so much more to the team then just goals, don't get me wrong I get it, I want to see him scoring again like he used to and I have no doubt it will happen, just a bit of patience I think with this one. give the lad time, he'll be just fine. the way I look at it, if he's playing well, which he is. there's no issues.

Dan can keep playing the same role he played 3 years ago, just like most of our players he to is going through a change, he might not be hogging the show like he used to but his not as bad as made out to be, the team I repeat team is doing well and is a big part of that.

Sturridge can't match firmino, couts, lallana and mane physically. Our system doesn't work when 1 player let's it down.

It's real shame you cannot play both together unless you ask one of them to play wide. I would like to see Hendo -Can and Courinho playing in the middle against UTD with Firmino, Mane and Danny playing up top.

Bon, the facts don't support that view. In the league Studge has played just 221 minutes as a striker, in that time we've scored 8 goals and conceded only 1. Our system has worked beautifully when Studge has played.

Muscat, if Studge wants to dislodge Firmino, he will have to do EXACTLY what Firmino does and how he does it because if not, he will never start consistently over him. I didn`t say that, Jaime Carragher did, so did Graeme Souness and I agree. That is a fact. Also, I watched a youtube LFC Documentary about Klopp and his counter pressing system and a couple of analysts said they don`t think Studge is built to thrive in Klopp`s system as a CF as he is required to do a whole lot more than just score. He`s a very good player and the most natural finisher in England, period (Klopp is aware of all his immense talent and skill set, mind you) BUT that is not enough in a Klopp system. He did play very well vs LC as the striker and he, Firmino and Mane, played very well together. That is what he has to do now as Klopp has built a machine and Studge has to be a part of said machine. He will have to up his fitness levels, change the way he plays and do the hard graft required to thrive or he will be successful. I am not giving up on him tho as he`s too good a player for that.

Hamilton, you seem to be violently agreeing with me.

Thanks LFC16. Muscat, globally I agree with you but it is not a direct correlation that because Studge started a few games, we scored 8 and conceded 1. Without him, we also scored 4 at Arsenal and 5 vs Hull (tho he came on and won a penalty) . He needs to adapt and hone his overall skill set to fit the Klopp system and if he can do that, he will be pushing Firmino. If not, Firmino all the way and it is not even close to being a debate.

Hamilton, read my first post, you are repeating exactly what I said earlier. This is a very surreal conversation.
