Ed001, what's your analysis on Lovren's season since Klopp took over. I think he's been our best defender overall, but people usually rate Sakho higher due to his personality. Cheers mate.

{Ed001's Note - he did showed a marked improvement, but he still struggled with reckless challenges at times, which led to his lack of pace being exposed as he was unable to recover. His recovery runs were sluggish at best. Who can forget Kolo Toure running past him to make a last ditch defensive challenge in our box as they both chased back in the Europa League final? That showed the worst of him, the lack of real desire to chase back. For me that shows why we need to replace him.}

Think we need to play either him or sakho, not both. Both have a tendency to lunge in and need someone who can get them out of jail playing next to them, someone who can organise and reads the game well. I rate both players tbh.

Sahko is better and has more pace than Lovren. Don`t believe me? Try catching up with Aubameyang and stopping him from scoring vs Dortmund at Anfield in the first half like Sahko did without fouling him. If you doubt me, watch the game again. Sahko is our best CB not just because of his personality, he is just that talented with pace, power, better passing ability and our best one on one defender bar maybe Kolo Toure, who`s no longer here. his heading does need some work tho, I admit.

I think Lovren needs to improve some aspects of his game - his passing needs to be better, but more importantly, his decision making when it comes to challenges. He goes for a ball all out and this is where he needs to be selective and be a better judge of situations. This was his strength in his only season at Southampton and if he can work towards that, I think he will do well.

{Ed041's Note - every player can improve. The best ones work hard to do this throughout their careers.

I agree with Mings on Klavan. In fact it is obvious you can't safely predict our starting 11, barring massive injury upsets.

I think Ragnar could prove to be more than just an experience backup. He looked good vs us in the Europa and with Sakho apparently annoying Klopp he might get more games than many expected. Do you think Klopp wants rid of Sakho?
