For me, I was disappointed when Henderson was named captain. While I rate him, I think Can is the better player. I would like to see milner Lucas and Can as our starting midfield.

I think you're alluding to the 'who gets dropped so Lucas can play?' argument. I'm not sure who it should be but it definitely shouldn't be Henderson. He's been one of our stand out players the last two years and I would drop Milner first in a heart beat.

To fit Lucas in the team we'll have to either play a diamond, drop Milner or push Coutinho wide and I'm not sure Rodgers is planning on doing any of those things. Don't be surprised if Lucas doesn't start against Stoke.

Henderson has to pushed up and not to stick around the half way line receive the ball from defenders and spray passes. That's not his strength at all.
I am a firm believer Can should be played alongside Lucas and not in his place.

That's a nice thought on our new club captain. Is there anyone at the club you won't pick on?

He's the engine, he doesn't stop. I think he's one of those players where you only realise what he brings when he's not playing. We miss his energy and constant pressing when he's out, perhaps that would be different this year though with Milner arriving. Who would you of picked as captain instead?

Bigmick I'm not "picking on" anyone. And I have given credit to Henderson on multiple occasions. You guys need to grow up. This is a banter site. If we can't discuss what we think the team is missing then what is the point?

I don't know who I'd pick Shadow. Milner is certainly capable. Lucas would be a good choice to be honest. Lots of our players have leadership capabilities.

I think Henderson is improving all the time and last year he was stuck baby sitting players. He added a few more goals to his game which is a bonus.

Sorry but why os Henderson the only one to escape the Suarez made them all stuff.

Where all saying sterling was and people are right to as he's not a very good individual but a very good cog in a machine.

Henderson for me can play one way and one way only and that is complete pressing, charging around thinking fast. You watch he is awful when the game is slow. He's a 100mph man. He also hasn't improved since 13/14, he isn't as good a s people make out either. Its like getting a f1 and doing 30mph and never using it hows it meant to be used and trying to drive on the beach with it (it won't perfom well) and that's hendo if used right great player. He is not someone who do defensive work, dictate play or be asked to score 15 a season. He is an energy man and I will say once his legs go "which fwrgie was right about his bad gate' then he is finished as a player in the top of the game. As morbid and horrible and the new breed of fan soundS that is going to happen at some point, the injuries will hit

Use him right or not at all.

Sorry tj didn't mean you personally but a lot of people just criticise for no reason .Hendo is our captain and deservedly so let's just get behind him because he is a top player

I'm going to stick my tuppence worth in here. And say that I feel it's a squad game and, while the squad needs slight trimming, its also brimming with quality - which, when the inevitable injuries kick in, we'll be able to utilise this quality cover in those crucial areas. I'm sure BR and his staff are drumming this idea into all the players. We will have injuries/losses of confidence/form. And all the lads will be needed to play their part. I'm well happy this year!

How fickle some fans can be, holy smokes you've basically based this around his Helsinki performance? (don't say you haven't otherwise you wouldn't have mentioned it) Henderson for me improved vast amounts, he contributed more goals and more assists (what Brendan wanted him to do). This post reminds me of Aaron Ramsey, up until two seasons he was seen as a lousy player. Now? adds consistent goals to his game and he's a worldbeater. The point I'm making here is because he scored goals nobody even took notice to how he actually plays in the midfield, which was usually to a good standard he is an engine and can control the game a similar but very different comparison would be Yaya Toure a liability in a two man, Manchester City midfield if you ask me but the goals he scores are important and contribute a lot to help the team.

Whereas our hendo works his socks off every game contributes with both goals and assists, albeit not much as the two listed above, if you ask me i'd rather a Hendo/Ramsey type player who contributes without goals and assists but has the potential to develop their games to consistently give goals and assists while not letting their actual purpose escape them.

And for me Hendo is the better out of Hendo and Milner

there won't be to many opposition fans quakeing in their boots when playing liverpool and see henderson on the teamsheet, he goes missing in action when playing against quality

All I know is Jordan Henderson is not 'too good' to be dropped should other midfielders be in better form.
Armband or not,, If he's not as effective as Can, Lucas or Milner during the season. Then the manager should always put the team first,,, any player should be droppable

Henderson along with coutinho should be the first 2 names on the team sheet. I agree though in preseason he's not been impressive but this is due to Rodgers having a problem with Lucas and asking Henderson to sit deep. You then take away his main asset. his relentless energy which is a big part of bossing the midfield as others in there can't cope with his constant movement and exceptional ability to press

Hendostheman

They are known as typical CM or deep playmaker. When your boss ask you to sit deep he expect you to do a Fabregas job in the middle which he is not.
Henderson is another version of Ballack of Vidal.

You do understand captains can be dropped regardless of the armband??

Sure Gerrard was dropped a few games last season hence why kendo was captain so making a mountain out of a molehill here - Henderson has been consistently great for us the last few seasons but if he is out of form then no doubt he will be dropped as others would be

I think a midfield needs balance if playing a midfield 3, ie ideally one defensive anchor, a box to box engine and a playmaker. Our problem is Milner and Hendo are very similar box to box players but I think they can fit as either
1) Milner should play the deeper role, Hendo the engine and Coutinho the playmaker (against weaker sides) or
2) play Lucas as DM, Hendo and Milner together, then Coutinho at tip of the diamond to add the creative touch (to control the midfield against stronger sides)
