Ed001 can you see us going back in for zubamendi? Obviously we really fancied him earlier. or have we moved on completely.
{Ed001's Note - I believe we have moved on for now.}
1.) 10 Mar 2025
10 Mar 2025 12:45:45
Are we still looking for a midfielder Ed? Even with Slot starting to give Endo get game time he deserve. Who are we looking at that you know of?
{Ed001's Note - I don't know who but yes we are still interested in adding one.}
2.) 10 Mar 2025
10 Mar 2025 14:30:11
What about Elliot Anderson of Forest?
Does the hard graft, and can pass forward with effect.
{Ed001's Note - brilliant player.}
3.) 10 Mar 2025
10 Mar 2025 14:44:44
Anderson would be homegrown too. As would Adam Wharton.
4.) 10 Mar 2025
10 Mar 2025 15:22:00
In true tradition, if ed 001 like a player LFC don't buy them!
{Ed001's Note - I had better not mention that I like Wharton too then.}
5.) 10 Mar 2025
10 Mar 2025 16:17:24
I've not really seen much of Wharton. A tackling ball playing midfielder would be sweet. If they still exist!
{Ed001's Note - that would be Wharton.}
6.) 10 Mar 2025
10 Mar 2025 16:22:44
Ed001 - shush!
{Ed001's Note - they did buy Alisson after I banged on about how we should for months. Maybe that is where I am going wrong? Maybe I need to bore them into submission to get them to buy the players I like?}
7.) 10 Mar 2025
10 Mar 2025 16:41:00
Seen a lot of people defending Hughes and co here Ed. Who knows, maybe one of them is Hughes himself and he will look into buying players you like just so that you could stop bashing them.
{Ed001's Note - then we defo won't get them if he is trying to sign them! Just kidding before Ricky (Rigsby) Hughes jumps in to defend himself.}
8.) 10 Mar 2025
10 Mar 2025 16:56:13
Maybe the curse is broken. bang on about, let's play the game, seee what happens.
9.) 10 Mar 2025
10 Mar 2025 18:09:44
Ed001 Any chance we go for Baleba I think he would be amazing.
{Ed001's Note - I would love him, but it does seem he is not the type of player we are looking for. The search has been for a playmaker, like Zubimendi.}
10.) 10 Mar 2025
10 Mar 2025 18:32:45
I'm thinking Ed, Slot's main/ original plan is to dominated team by possession and that the reason we are looking at another playmaker. And then when we are leading by doing that, you throw in someone like Endo to close out game. I would personally prefer someone who can defend a bit in midfield like Baleba, Ederson and as you mentioned Wharton but Slot probably got different idea. Looking at this season so far, I wouldn't doubt him.
11.) 10 Mar 2025
10 Mar 2025 19:00:59
Zubi will be even more reluctant to transfer here even with our man made "mountains" named Gravenberch and Szobo : p.
12.) 10 Mar 2025
10 Mar 2025 21:06:14
I think Wharton will be a target. Cheaper than a year ago, a really promising player.
13.) 11 Mar 2025
11 Mar 2025 03:40:08
Most players are not transferring here to be backup to Gravenberch. This is why Endo is so valuable.
14.) 11 Mar 2025
11 Mar 2025 04:01:01
Vitinha from PSG - any takers? I was very impressed.
Full action midfielder - gibbs white from forest is also good but we are not looking for that type I guess.
15.) 11 Mar 2025
11 Mar 2025 05:08:58
Vitinha is surely a 100m plus player. If you were to ask me, given the profile of player slot seems to be looking for, I would go for zaire Emery if we're talking about psg players. He is maybe a similar sort of profile as gravenberch (though he is quite a bit shorter and doesn't have those huge Vieira like strides) in terms of a ball carrying deep lying midfielder who can beat the press, brilliant feet, very intelligent and athletic, is always where he needs to be on and off the ball.
16.) 11 Mar 2025
11 Mar 2025 06:36:40
Who would leave? We have 6 senior midfielders for 3 positions already already? Genuine question, we should always be looking to improve but I don't know who I would want to go.
17.) 11 Mar 2025
11 Mar 2025 06:53:21
I guess the other question, Westwood, is what a potential move would mean for nyoni and mcconnell, both of whom the boss clearly like and who are knocking on the door for minutes in the league. Both could turn out to be diamonds for us given more playing time.

Indeed Patrick, I am really torn on how to improve all areas of the pitch but midfield especially. The only one who is a shoe in IMO opinion is Dom Szob, he is a complete midfielder IMO. All the others have drawn backs.
Jones - Probably the safest asides from Szob. Well suited to our style, HG, club developed and a fan but slow on the ball.
Endo - Getting on and not suited to a fast paced passing game, but our only definitive battling DM midfielder.
Macca - Our best technician and creator but not defensively aware enough to play 8 and not fast enough to press like Szob does at 10.
Elliot - Very similar to Macca. Creative, HG and loves the club but slow and lacking defensive awareness.
Gravenberch - One of our best players early in the season and well suited on the ball to Slots style and has defensive recovery ability, but has been caught a few times not filling the gaps recently.
Seems mad to think considering how we are doing, but the only one I would say is 100% guaranteed to be with us next year is Dom Szob. All my opinion of course but I wouldn't want to be in Slots shoes. let's see how ruthless he really is come the summer.

All these midfield frailties and weaknesses yet we're strolling the Prem.
Managers prefer to look at what players bring to the table, fans prefer to focus on what they lack.
20.) 11 Mar 2025
11 Mar 2025 10:29:49
We're strolling the prem but we can always improve is what everybody means, flash. I'm hardly a fan who clamours for signings 24/ 7 but gravenberch clearly has had a drop off due to having to play too many games, and mac allister has shown fatigue when having to play too many minutes as well. I'm somewhat certain slot wants to add somebody in the middle of the park too, unless he thinks one of the youngsters can step up and stake a claim for a serious squad space next year.
21.) 11 Mar 2025
11 Mar 2025 12:55:53
Rigsby catching some strays here.
I haven't been watching Palace this season. What has Adam Wharton's season been like? Injuries? Form? Something else?
I have barely heard his name mentioned until the last fortnight.
{Ed001's Note - he has had an injury and so was missing most of the season. He came back about 3 weeks ago I think.}
22.) 11 Mar 2025
11 Mar 2025 13:18:49
I wholeheartedly agree with you PB.
But it's worth remembering that we're on the cusp of another league title because of these players, not despite them.
While acknowledging that no player is perfect and we can always improve, you simply don't win the Prem with a bunch of misfits.
Slot wasn't blowing smoke when he said this squad wouldn't be easy to improve upon, not without spending silly amounts of money.
23.) 11 Mar 2025
11 Mar 2025 14:53:59
Cheers, Ed.
Looks like he had 93 days out with groin surgery.
Will keep an eye out.
24.) 11 Mar 2025
11 Mar 2025 14:55:01
We can and must improve. We got a bit lucky with midfield injuries this year. Hopefully that continues but one more top class midfielder should be added. Grav is definitely overworked.
I agree though other areas of the pitch are easier to improve.
25.) 12 Mar 2025
12 Mar 2025 14:08:00
Wharton is brilliant.
26.) 13 Mar 2025
13 Mar 2025 08:22:20
I like the idea of Jobe tbh lol.
