Long time reader, first time posting.
Can any of the Eds or Macca confirm the following rumour from Spain:

Real Madrid to move for Alexis Mac Allister in the summer, with Tchouameni being offered in exchange (LFC long time admirers) . RM and CA looking for more stability and control in the midfield.

{Ed001's Note - it is certainly something they are considering, Madrid I mean.}

Mad considering how many pool fans don't seem to rate him, Real havnt bought many wasters lately. Speaking as someone who was doubtful about buying him i think, apart from a dodgy period playing the 6 under Klopp he's been a big success at the club.

2.) 24 Jan 2025
24 Jan 2025 10:46:46
We are going to end up in a complete mess, can see it all coming now. Probably why Klopp bailed when he did. Win as much as we can this season I reckon.

3.) 24 Jan 2025
24 Jan 2025 10:59:30
Mac is a player you can upgrade though. It’s not like losing Salah or VVD plus they would have a pay a decent amount.

4.) 24 Jan 2025
24 Jan 2025 11:01:27
Alexis desires to play in Spain for obvious reasons-no one is at fault for that.

5.) 24 Jan 2025
24 Jan 2025 11:28:01
RM might be teasing.
We can do with a upgrade in his position.

He also likes Spain and the play thing might suit him also. :-)

6.) 24 Jan 2025
24 Jan 2025 11:30:00
Mac Allister's playstyle is probably more suited to Spain. He's definitely replaceable and we would get a good fee for him.

7.) 24 Jan 2025
24 Jan 2025 12:05:06
Probabaly why Klopp bailed when he did?

Unsubstantiated nonsense.

8.) 24 Jan 2025
24 Jan 2025 12:21:38
I really do like tchoumani. Always have- bot sure if we were ever in for him but I would love that. I think it would be a great deal as I reckon both leagues would suit both players better. I remember ed2 previously saying madrid were after him this coming summer. And while player swaps are usually reserved for fifa, stranger things have happened.

9.) 24 Jan 2025
24 Jan 2025 12:31:17
You can say that Mark but he is clearly 1st choice for a team being called the best in england and maybe even europe! Might be better players out there but im sure they're at top clubs and prbobably 1st choice and very expensive. Personally i'd be doing all i can to keep this team together and Mac is a big part of that.

10.) 24 Jan 2025
24 Jan 2025 12:41:51
I think it’s a stark litmus test to see if someone rates Mac.
They’d be the guys who thought Gini was a ghost.
That Whealan was no good.

Mac is a brilliant player. Failure to see this is genuinely in the eye of the beholder. Mad he wins loads internationally, has won a cup with us, will win more this year and Madrid want him…. but he’s no good. Occam’s razor lads.

11.) 24 Jan 2025
24 Jan 2025 12:41:51
Tbf unless we start playing Mac in the 10 I wouldn’t mind swapping him and trying to get a bit more steel in the midfield. Ideal scenario would be to just move him to the 10 though as I don’t think any of our other mids have the same vision and can pick a pass like him.

12.) 24 Jan 2025
24 Jan 2025 12:45:27
Some people have no crap filter and literally believe everything they read.
A dodgy car salesman's dream customer.

13.) 24 Jan 2025
24 Jan 2025 13:03:22
If they want Macca they can offer Rodrygo. and we sign Zubimendi as a Macca replacement. Ideal but unrealistic. I like Tchouameni but a little injury prone and maybe more of a destructive DM than a constructive like Slot wants?

14.) 24 Jan 2025
24 Jan 2025 13:07:39
I haven't seen a lot of Tchouameni but the few Madrid and France games I've seen, he has never looked anything special. Also maybe more of a Klopp style midfielder than the playmaker that Slot likes. Can't see it happening.

15.) 24 Jan 2025
24 Jan 2025 13:21:20
McAllister is a top top player - he’s the one that holds it all together IMO - adds the competitiveness we need, diligent in defence, creative in attack. Agree 100% with the comment those that don’t rate him probably didn’t rate Gini - and look what happened when he left! Everyone wants flash but what you need in a top team is also some grit and nous.

He’s the only one I would trust fully against a Real Madrid or Barcelona type team in a Champions League final. I Love Gravenberch and he is outstanding, but still a bit untested at the very top level, Szobo is a talent but still a bit inconsistent, Elliott exceptional but young…., Jones shows glimpses but not world class yet etc. But I would be comfortable Macallister can go toe to toe…. we’d be mad to sell him.

16.) 24 Jan 2025
24 Jan 2025 13:38:23
SGRed

10,000% hard agree on Mac. I think after this season Ryan has been tested, we’ve played AC at Milan, City, Chelsea, Arsenal, Leverkusen and Real. He’s come through with flying colours.

Right now we have and outstandingly well balanced midfield with great cover.

Do not be surprised if in summer Real enquire about Ryan.

17.) 24 Jan 2025
24 Jan 2025 14:00:33
You would be happy to swap a proven Premiership solid performer, for a player who has not developed since moving to Spain where the style of play is less intense and the standard poorer, and there is no guarantee that Tchouameni would be able physically to play week in week out?
Utter madness. If Tchouameni comes to Anfield, he should be in addition to the midfielders we have, not to replace Mac.

18.) 24 Jan 2025
24 Jan 2025 14:07:40
Yes Maccas crying and whining whilst play acting will fit the bill at Madrid has been lacking a bit since Ramos left. Macca and LB are definitely the weak spots in the team and both can be upgraded.

19.) 24 Jan 2025
24 Jan 2025 14:40:36
Reports are saying they are also hijacking Zubimendi's move to Arsenal. They will have more centre mids than you can shake a stick at. They'll have to play 0-10-0 to fit them all in the team!

20.) 24 Jan 2025
24 Jan 2025 14:48:39
After watching the likes of Grealish, Havertz, Kane, Bruno F, Joelinton, Gabriel etc cheat on a weekly basis, I think we're being a bit harsh on Macca here.

Admittedly he's had a few moments this season where he's been caught and has tried to buy a freekick. I expect he will weed that out of his game given it isn't working. He's clearly not as cut out for it as the whole Arsenal, City and Newcastle teams are.

As for Tchouameni. That player's name is synonymous with Klopp's worst window. I call it the "Golden cow" summer. Hopefully we have moved on. Would prefer we invest in Baleba, even if he is more expensive and less experienced than Tchouameni.

If we swapped Macca for Tchou, then we would lose something some of the playmaking ability we have. Even more so if we lose Trent. Can Elliott step up more levels? I am skeptical about that. Szobo has a great engine but he's not a playmaker. We'd probably have to look for another 10 addition in that case. Of course, I'd be happy with Florian Wirtz at LFC. Unlikely though!

21.) 24 Jan 2025
24 Jan 2025 15:43:07
RM being linked with Konate now as well, as are PSG.

While the club can’t control what the players agents, or other clubs, are briefing or saying to the press it’s disappointing that we’re continually having our players linked with others. Especially true with Konate, he has a few injury concerns but I think we’d struggle to get a better player in the market without paying double what he cost.

It’s partly a reflection that they’re sought after players, but also a poor reflection on our ability to sort things out contractually and dampen the noise down. They’re contracted to us so should also be treating us with more respect if that’s where the press leaks are coming from. Could also be other clubs destabilising.

Particularly given we’re top of everything now is the time to capitalise, tie down the ones we want to keep.

22.) 24 Jan 2025
24 Jan 2025 15:51:21
He does down way too easy and play acts a lot.

23.) 24 Jan 2025
24 Jan 2025 17:30:37
Side tracking a bit. @FlyPelicanFly . I'd always thought that the Grealish of a few years ago could have been a top top player if he could have been convinced to stay upright more often.

As for Mac. There are only a few players playing in the Prem that i would put on or near his level for his role in the team. He is an absolutely phenomenal disruptor of play and of the oppositions momentum. Its a team game, the sum is much more than the individual parts!

24.) 24 Jan 2025
24 Jan 2025 17:59:39
The only fans that don’t seem to rate him are on here and the basis is because he goes down to easy. I think he’s class, great presser, can spot a pass and links up player better than most of our mids in my opinion.

25.) 24 Jan 2025
24 Jan 2025 18:01:09
Why is it a surprise when teams show an interest in players at a club that is top of rather PL and the CL qualifying process? It would be really strange if other (top) clubs weren’t interested in our players. It’s natural but it doesn’t mean that the club will let them go, does it?

26.) 24 Jan 2025
24 Jan 2025 18:16:42
Yeah, we'll sell half our team to real Madrid. Teams are always interested in our players, it means nothing.

27.) 24 Jan 2025
24 Jan 2025 20:28:13
I mean, if Slot doesn't play Endo enough cos he can't control/ deliver the ball fast enough in tight spaces/ under pressure, I just wonder how on earth he would play Tchouaméni at all.

Maybe he plans to use the frenchman as central defender instead, as Madrid has done this season because of injuries, but also cos of Tchouameni himself struggling badly in the middke of the park.

28.) 25 Jan 2025
25 Jan 2025 00:23:55
Tchouameni is far better than Endo.
I like Endo but the main reason he is flavour of the month is that he isn't playing so doing nothing wrong. You can't compare him to Tchouameni.

Klopp bailed, did he? That's disrespectful to one of the best managers we've ever had.
We dropped out of the CL places once in the full seasons he had with us.
He rebuilt the front three and midfield and we were back there, top of the new league format and top of the PL.
He left us in far better place than the one we were in when he took over.

29.) 25 Jan 2025
25 Jan 2025 03:58:19
Keep Tchouameni. Camavinga or no deal.

30.) 25 Jan 2025
25 Jan 2025 07:18:49
Ed, what really happen to Tchouameni? It seems Ancelotti doesn't rate him nowadays. Would you think he is good enough for us? I would personally take Camavinga, but that probably won't happen.

{Ed001's Note - last I heard he struggled with some injuries and lost his way a bit.}

31.) 25 Jan 2025
25 Jan 2025 07:38:52
Tchouameni is undoubtedly a decent player, but have folks on here seen him play the last year and a half? He really hasn’t been great, and camavinga has been a bit off colour of late too, Madrid fans seem okay with letting either or both of them go.

32.) 25 Jan 2025
25 Jan 2025 08:27:05
Camavinga is unreal. Injuries might be a concern though.

If you rewatch our recent game vs Real, watch the Camavinga performance (until he got injured) .

33.) 25 Jan 2025
25 Jan 2025 09:49:00
Interest is irrelevant! The club has no interest in selling, and Alexis has no interest in leaving at this time. He is our player until the end of the 2027/ 28 season and is valued highly by the club regardless of what anyone here thinks. This story stems from Fichajes's headlining useless stories to try and upset the Liverpool camp after RM was beaten last year. Real Madrid is very nervous about our current form.

{Ed001's Note - no it doesn't. The story comes from Mac Allister having made it clear that he would like to move to Madrid next. That is his dream to play for them. He was clear about that when signing for us.}

34.) 25 Jan 2025
25 Jan 2025 10:34:10
In fairness, most South American players ambition is to play for one of Real or Barca. Fact of life. But I doubt Mac Allister is agitating for a move and I can't think that the club would want to sell one of the best midfielders around. He’s a £100m midfielder, judging by the quality of others who were sold for that price, he’s industrious, hard working, skilful, can pick a pass and can score goals, I’m surprised City didn’t go for him when he was at Brighton as he is in a similar mould to Gundogan. You would struggle to find another player of his quality for what we paid in the market right now. I’d rather sell Jones over Mac Allister if it were a case of needing to raising funds, as Mac Allister has consistently proven himself to be a top class player.

35.) 25 Jan 2025
25 Jan 2025 13:17:34
Mac is a decent enough player, does a job for the team and I’ve no problem with him staying or going to be honest. We got him cheap and can sell him for probably double what we paid and he is quite replaceable as well. If he wants to go to Madrid then good luck to him, we will use the money to buy someone better.

36.) 25 Jan 2025
25 Jan 2025 14:33:53
At least we should sell him for profit.

37.) 25 Jan 2025
25 Jan 2025 16:28:11
I don't have a problem with players who are honest and say they would like to go to x club ideally. You don't always have to be the final stop on a players journey as long as it's mutually beneficial while they're here and when they leave.

I've no problem with Suarez saying Barcelona was his dream when he came or mac saying it's Madrid. I get more annoyed by players saying they've been a boyhood fan of a club and then ditching them.

38.) 26 Jan 2025
26 Jan 2025 00:53:36
@1985Mikey - “does a job for the team” - like Argentina in a World Cup Final? As has been said, he isn’t flash and he dives around trying to win an advantage through free kicks but I think if he is capable of doing a job in a World Cup winning team it would be foolish to let him go unless we have somebody else signed up who is top drawer.

39.) 26 Jan 2025
26 Jan 2025 08:05:56
Vision and ability to play through the lines of defence is what Macca excels at. If we want to play the style of football slot wants them we need more players like him, not less. The lack of creativity with the passing style is so evident whenever Macca, Grav and Trent are not on the pitch, painful to watch sometimes.

40.) 26 Jan 2025
26 Jan 2025 10:35:52
Macca is a good player, but not sure he’s RM standard. He may well look better in a slower league so I could see him going to La Liga or abroad on a free or in a swap deal, but his contract has a while left on it so this could be one that rumbles on.
