Zubimendi going to Arsenal then it seems, 6 months after saying he didn’t want to leave Spain.

Looks like he may be agreeing a move now ahead of a move in the summer if you believe sky sports.

I have to say the guy comes across as someone that doesn’t know what he wants. How much can realistically have changed since the summer?

It's concerning that we couldn't convince the player to join Liverpool, with his excuse being loyalty, yet just six months later he's willing to move on. What does that say? Either he's changed his mind, or our recruitment team isn't up to scratch. I'm growing frustrated with how we keep missing out on key targets like Caicedo, Lavia, and Zubimendi, while also struggling to secure agreements for our three main contracts. I’d be very interested to know how this is being handled internally, because from the outside, it’s starting to look like we have a weak negotiation team.

He prob didn’t have to talk to Hughes. It’s hard to be persuaded by football’s answer to Frank Spencer.

Just for laughs - tzimas is being looked at by brighton.

Playing for Piers Morgan and the "mandem" on AFCTV. What more could you want out of a career?

To be fair, he isn’t that good, and Barcelona are facing economic problems in bringing in new players, so he might have a change of mind.

Who cares. We moved on.

Wasn't he promised a bumper new contract and that never happened? Also there were other promises made to him which were never kept but I can't remember what exactly but I could be wrong. Did'nt the club have to give him an ultimatum because he was dragging it out for so long? Then he spouted some crap about being loyal to his boyhood club?.

Zubumendi loves the mountains and rural scenery of Highbury.

Shame Liverpool aren’t back in for him… or perhaps he wants London. I thought he’d be a very good addition despite the emergence of Grav.

Do the Eds think we'll enter the race for his signature now he seems to want a move?
Or have we given up on a No6 despite us bidding not months ago and him agreeing a move and back tracking. I find it hard to believe that he'd want to go to Arsenal over us but Im biased. I can't help but feel if Arsenal get him we didn't do enough in the summer and Hughes is proving to be very inept in negotiations.

{Ed001's Note - I believe we have moved on from Zubimendi.}

He stayed because he wanted to go to Barca, but Barcelona can't even afford to register players they've already bought, so i'm guessing he's just looking for an out now. (I can almost see Ed002 telling me i'm talking nonsense, but that's the way I see it! ) .

Don't think it would be a good look for the club to go back in for him, and I think we need a more mobile, dynamic CM anyway.

I don't see the club wanting a player who flip flopped over the summer.

You forget his mate Merino is there and Arteta too. More connection with Spaniards at arsenal compared to the Spaniards we have at Liverpool. Which is none last time I checked.

RedA, why is it a shame? WOuld you go back in for a girl who promised to marry you and then, chickened out at the altar when it was time to say her vows?

Sorry, Im not that desperate and neither is my club. Thanks heavens for that.

Zubimendi will be 26 by next summer.

I think Baleba, Hugo Larsson and, as mentioned previously, Elliot Anderson are more our target profile.

Baffles me how we can move on from the only player we identified to improve our midfield in the summer. Especially when we didn’t so much as put in a bid for anyone else and are showing no interest in anyone else up til now. If he’s ready to move I’d go back in for him unless he’s told us he prefer Arsenal over us.

People forget that Zubimendi rejected a lot of clubs in the Summer, including Arsenal. So none of the clubs that were in for him managed to convince him to leave, including Arsenal. We have moved on, Arsenal chose to go back in for him. That's about it really.
