Ed 2, on the deal for Nunez and whatever fee we end up paying[if/ when signed] . would you say its a big gamble on liverpools part? From what I've seen, he's good, but not near the finished article. Probably an inflated price due to it being an English side making the purchase .

Is it a good deal in your eyes, if it did happen?

{Ed002's Note - It will certainly be a gamble as it is a big step up and a great deal of money. But he is very well thought of with the likes of Liverpool, Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea, Borussia Dortmund, Bayern Munich, Barcelona, Inter, Milan and Atletico all declaring an interest. Obviously most have backed away because of the overall costs (like Inter Milan and Barcelona) or because they have preferred targets (like Manchester City, Chelsea and Borussia Dortmund). Atletico had a bid rejected because Benfica did not want a player included in the deal. So if Liverpool can bring the funds required to the table and agree a fee with Benfica, expectations will be very high. It has the potential to be very successful, assuming he can settle easily.}

Sure what player isn’t a gamble?

I think any player would be a gamble with that kind of fee and very little to show other than one decent season outside of the Prem league. I hope, if he does come will fit in like Diaz has and score boat loads but yes very much a gamble!

If happens it is a further show of faith in Klopp and desire to deliver trophies and keep us competing - which in turn keeps the club value high of course :)

#FSGout - numpties.

If almost all big clubs in europe is interested in him, then they must have seen something in him that we as football fans do not see. At least the fans who don't rate him.

If all of those clubs want him or have had some interest in the past, then you know the guy is a genuine talent.

And a real statement of intent if we get him and that the player chooses us over them. 3 CL finals in 5 years must be a big pull but let’s be honest it’s mainly Klopp!

The risk is he cannot settle in England culturally and weather wise its not Portugal or Spain. However he will have a resale market due to his age. If the club can't get Mbappe, Haaland or Lewa, Darwin is the best option other than a Lautaro, Kane or at a stretch Isak, Adeyemi, Gouiri etc.

Not sure if you know this but Liverpool have got and have had Spanish players and believe me when I say culturally, weather wise and language has never been a problem to any of them oh and I’m sure Liverpool can’t get Mbappe, Haarland or Lewa, hence them trying to get Nunez.

Exactly right sid19, If Nunez arrives he would be on 125 000 € a week. Of the 3 names you mentioned Haaland earns the least with 400 000 € a week. All about the wages!

Other players settling has no effect on Nunez settling. There is no guarantee he settles because other 'Spanish' players have settled. He has played in Spain and Portugal both south american like leagues. You must be living in utopia if you think its risk free signing.

It's not risk free, no transfer is.

But because of his age, the modest wages (as reported) and because practically every club in Europe would take him in a heartbeat if they could, we are unlikely to make a big loss if he doesn't settle and has to be moved on.
