Ha ha. We seem to be alternating questions between the status of dembele and Nunez.

Dembele was last so any update Ed on the status of Nunez?

Nothing like being asked the same question over and over. Are we there yet?

{Ed002's Note - Darwin Nunez (S) Benfica don't want to sell Nunez but they have had serious interest from several sides. Long term followers Manchester City enquired about Darwin Nunez again last summer were told he won't be available before the summer of 2022. He was not their preferred choice and they have signed one of their preferred choices now so they can be discounted. Borussia Dortmund were also keen on him as an option to replace Haaland when he leaves in the summer, but they have agreed a deal with their preferred choice. Bayern Munich could cash in on the last year of Lewandowski’s contract in the summer and look to a replacement – but they have several other options in mind. Milan have a sustained interest and tried to sign him before he moved to Benfica, but financial issues mean they will need to sell other assets as they have other players they wish to add as well - and he is the most expensive of their primary Ibrahimovich replacement targets – they can be discounted even under new ownership. Manchester United had a very high-end scout and ex-Premier League player look at him on several occasions on their behalf but would likely need to be in the Champions League to be considered - so it will be a hard sell for them, but I suspect they will push. Barcelona have enquired, knowing that signing their preferred option is difficult, but were told they would have to pay his full €150M release clause to sign him. They can be discounted. Inter want to replace Alexis Sanchez with Nunez but moving on Sanchez is a serious problem for them – he has no value and will want to see out his contract on his last major salary in Europe. Suarez will leave Atletico in the summer, and they might provide a viable solution – but they would not be able to pay his release clause and could only make something happen if Benfica would accept more than one player as part of the deal. Brighton, West Ham, Newcastle and Arsenal have shown an interest but are far from attractive options and most certainly a step back. Chelsea have scouted Nunez and he has been recommended by an ex-player who was approached to be the new Sporting Director - but it is unlikely the club will push unless Lukaku leaves permanently. Do not rule out a bid from PSG. Scouts from many other sides, including Roma and Spurs have been watching a number of Benfica players - including Nunez. I am not aware of approach from Liverpool, nor where he would fit in without a change of tactics, but they will no doubt be interested at the right price. Benfica were looking to achieve at least €80M in cash - they are now looking for closer to €120M comprising €80M cash plus bonuses.}

€120 million? I know he's their player n all but surely not. I know he has 3 years left on his contract. Bought for €24 mill and has a 20% sell on for Almeria. So they'd lose potentially €24 mill with those figures. Still getting €96 million. (I know I know it doesn't work like that etc)
He has great potential BUT unproven. I understand age, potential, etc etc but give me a break those numbers are insane. Haaland didn't cost that as an initial fee. I know his wages are staggering but Benfica are dreaming. Only Man Utd are stupid enough to pay that amount but can't offer what we can. let's hope Julian Ward sees a way to negotiate this deal with them. Id love the player to come but not at those prices. This deal is NOT happening on any level unless as we've said we don't have to break the bank for him. LFC simply have not and never paid that for one player. Only VVD has come close.

Rather walk away and do everything possible to convince Lewandowski. As good as Nunez is there's risk attached due to language and diffrence in culture.

Rambo8 your post doesn’t make any sense whatsoever, aswell as Portuguese (I’ll admit it’s different) speaking players we also have Spanish speaking players as for Lew surely you know his Barcelona bound, wonder if his going to struggle with the language and culture too.

Lewandowski won’t be coming here. He wants to go to Barcelona and that’s not mentioning the fact he is 34 and there’s not many miles left on the clock makes it an unlikely purchase.

Regrettably you have to pay the going rate if you want the best or players with the potential to be the best. It is telling that VVD said that Nunez gave him one of the hardest games he’s had for a while. Unlike Lewandowski, who didn’t get a sniff when we played Bayern.

He speaks Spanish. pretty sure there's a few Spanish speakers at the club, Thiago, Diaz, Jota, Ali, Bobby, ti name a few. That would be a daft reason not to go for the player. Plus he plys his trade in Portugal so probably speaks good Portuguese I would imagine.

I just don't see Nunez happening for the money Benfica will demand and the wages teams like Man u will offer him.

{Ed002's Note - Right now another side have the jump on him.}

Lot of money for nunez that. Wow didn't see that amount coming. I'd take us out the equation. Ridiculous.

If they are desperate to keep hold of nunez, it's likely a tactic to scare off clubs from going in for him properly.
And if a club is stupid enough to go to that price for him, to take them to the cleaners.

{Ed002's Note - No. They now have an offer of cash plus a player they are considering.}

Would that be a Premier league club by any chance Ed02?

{Ed002's Note - It is nothing to do with Liverpool.}
