Ed002, hope you are well as January draws to an end, and you having to deal with us getting excitable about the prospect of Diaz.
Just wondering if you could give an insight where the club are with regard to Homegrown and ClubDeveloped players. With Phillips likely to leave, Ox potentionally looking for minutes, Gomez now 4th choice and Milner nearing his pension.
Thanks.

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool can add one HG and if Luiz arrives then I expect Karius will be removed from the squad.}

Non HG (17)
Adrian
Alisson
Andrew Robertson
Diogo Jota
Divock Origi
Fabinho
Ibrahima Konate
Joel Matip
Loris Karius

Hopefully we can look to promote some more kiddies in the next couple of seasons.

Is Jones not club developed Ed?

{Ed002's Note - He doesn't count as part of the rules.}

Ed watch age is it under 21 or 23? Is nico Williams hg or is he under the age.

{Ed002's Note - over 21.}

Ed002 I don’t know why the club gave Adrian a contract in the summer seems a waste of a place 3rd choice and am not sure if he is better than some of the younger keepers at the club and it’s not as if you play a 3rd choice keeper to often. Think his on about £60k a week as well.

Grino, I believe Neco, like Curtis will be considered HG and Club Developed next season, which would allow one of the HG players to leave unless I am missing something.

Not sure if Elliot will count as well as club when he hits the appropriate age. Can’t remember how old he was when he signed him so maybe just home grown.

{Ed001's Note - 16.}

We must remember that Curtis, Neco, Harvey, Tyler Morton etc are all u21 and we can use as many U21s as we want.

All of them will count as HG and CT when they no longer qualify as U21s as, of the ones above, all were part of the club set up before the age of 18….

Excuse my ignorance but how is Kelleher classed as homegrown when he's from Rep. Ireland and Robertson isn't 🤔 again excuse my ignorance on the subject 😂.

{Ed001's Note - it is nothing to do with nationality but where they have played their football. Kelleher has been playing in England while Robbo was in Scotland.}

Ed002 is the oracle 🙌 can I ask what your thoughts are on Diaz as a player?

Thanks for all the time you put in.

{Ed002's Note - Diaz is very well liked as a player but may not be able to immediately adapt - and I am not sure how good his English is. I am sure that eventually it should work out but there is a huge cultural shock coming for the player taking him out of his comfort zone of sunny Portugal with the wonderful seafood and the beautiful girls laughing to move to the grim, wet and cobbled streets Northwest of England where there would be a significant cultural change, overweight tattooed women pushing wheelchairs with kids who look like their brothers, smog, dead & dying pit ponies laying on the street, and only chips and fried curry to eat.}

Haha, this is so true. Even when I come home from holiday and see all the unhappy grey faces smoking outside the airport I find it a culture shock, so it must be hard for these guys moving over to the UK, especially with C.V. and that person Boris still kicking about.

I take it then ed2 the grafton was your spot on a night out in liverpool.?

{Ed002's Note - I rarely get to Liverpool.}

Shame that Ed002 - it is without doubt the best city in the world. I can say that with confidence as I have been to most of them in my 30 years of travelling globally with work.

{Ed002's Note - I am not so sure it will make the “best” list.

Give it a rest KBL. Look we're all Liverpool fans here but that's just lip service. Liverpool is by no means anywhere close to being the best city in the world and it doesn't matter what you set your criteria as. Whether it's the weather, architecture, things to do, cleanliness, culture, history, how fun it is, food, etc., Liverpool ain't coming out on top.

{Ed0666's Note - yeh but isn’t favorite Cities subjective??

Any city other than Winnipeg is the wrong answer.

{Ed0666's Note - Berlin & Medellin are in the running also

I've lived in Perth, Melbourne, Wellington and Dublin and done several stints elsewhere, but you really can't beat that tingle you get when going back up to Liverpool. though maybe it's just a side effect of long term smog exposure.

{Ed025's Note - love it stuie..

21.) 29 Jan 2022
29 Jan 2022 12:34:38
Babbitty - it's only lip service if you haven't got the knowledge of many other cities. I have, and despite your comments I maintain what I wrote earlier.

It's got nothing to do with being a Liverpool fan - let's face it BR - there are millions of LFC fans who don't live in Liverpool.

Depends what you measure a city on I guess. If you value character, energy, strength, music, verve, and humour then it is up there.

I've spent time in many great cities, but always have to come home.

Havana, New York, Berlin, then Liverpool for me.

Also, would always prefer to be in the north. The friendliness outweighs the 1 degree of hotness we lose out on.

Best and favourite are 2 different things Ed. When you have nostalgia and feel at home in a certain place, naturally your fondness for that place will grow in comparison to other places. I would put Liverpool as one of the top cities in the UK scuzzmcboob but that isn't really saying much. Our cities are often a bit drab compared to say some of the capitals of Europe. I know many people idealise London but I can't stand the place.

LOL Ed002 you're a riot. True we'll need our South American and Iberian players to put a warm arm around his shoulder and reassure him that all the soggy socks and deep-fried pigeon burgers are going to be worthwhile. :)

{Ed002's Note - Fried curry is a delicasy in the North of England, and wallop is the leftover spillage from other ales.}
