Morning eds and reds,
After the 2 best teams in Europe (my opinion anyway) battling out a draw yesterday I can't feel too dissapointed. Ofcourse I would have loved a win but as it stands city still sit behind us so positives to be taken I think.
Now onto salah, the man is a machine at the min and I can't genuinely think of a player better in world as it stands. That goal yesterday was utter sublime, had it all, strength, skill, dribbling and then to finish on his WEAKER foot the way he did. WOW.
Onto my question if I may ed001 or ed002 the salah contract situation seems to maybe dragged on a little (clearly not affecting form) but do any you guys know if it's an issue with wages or length of contract LFC want to offer or has salah indicated he had enough and wants a move so won't sign? I heard rumours over weekend he fancied spain, I know he has flirted with Real and Barcelona in past has he decided that now is time to make the move or you think he will sign an extension at LFC?

{Ed002's Note - I suspect the contract situation is made complicated because of his expectation to be the post-Ronaldo poster boy at Real Madrid - and might of been if the financial expectations were better. Approaching 30 he might now be thinking that opportunity has gone for good and his "agent" might well be pressing for a huge deal in terms of money and length of contract that would not suit the club - hence there being no agreement so far. I would completely discount Barcelona as an option and he knows that Real Madrid have a much preferred target.}

Pay him 500k if he stays, the guy is the best player in the world by an absolute mile this season. pay him whatever he wants he's got better an better and no player in the world is anywhere near his level and is constantly marked by five men and spends 99 percent of games playing against a back line of ten men. No one out their could do what he's doing in the best league in the world. People saying lewandowski are out of their mind he plays in the league with the highest lines i've ever seen and the worst defending out of the top ten leagues maybe more. be interesting to see how Lewandowski would do against a back line as deep as we play against and been marked by five men instead of having one whole half of the pitch to operate in.

He is not far wrong, Salahs close control in the wide areas is unbelievable how he keeps the ball half the time. He receives some really poor passes and sorts them out keeps the ball for us and manages to make a useful pass and run. One moment against city he had space ahead to exploit so he subsequently beat his man and played perfect pass to assist mane. The man does deserve perfect team mates but honestly he won't find them anywhere.

The guy is asking for similar to what the top earners at United and City are earning and in fairness to him he is within his rights to ask for it because he’s been absolutely top notch every year. Ultimately the question to ask is how easy is he to replace and how much would it cost. My view is that he’s incredibly difficult to replace (how many 20 goal a season forwards playing in competitive leagues are there out there, or even how many are there that look like making that step up in their output at the sort of money FSG are prepared to pay? They’re few and far between to the point of being nearly non existent, I can’t think of one player in our price range capable of replicating what Salah brings), and if you look at it as him being a world class player, how much would it cost to like for like buy a similarly talented world class player with the same output? The choice is pay him what he wants or risk losing a huge chunk of our goals as we won’t get a kings kings ransom if we sell to enable us to adequately replace him (age/ contract length) and if he goes on a free that’s even worse.
