Ed0666 - Do you not think if Taki was to be sold, Klopp would have told him to play for Japan in the Olympics? The two may have no relation to one another, but it would seem odd for Taki to have been in pre-season training with Liverpool from the start, rather than helping his country to win a gold medal in his home Olympics as one of Japan’s best players, if he was in no way part of Klopp’s plans for next season.
I may be in a party of one, but ability-wise I think Minamino is an excellent player. Where I do worry is his self-belief and athleticism.

{Ed0666's Note - no point being a baller if you have no self belief. I think klopp wanted him I’m for pre season to put him in the shop window mate.

Ed666, I don’t think all this “putting players in the shop window” is a thing at least with Klopp. If he wanted to do that, he could have simply let him play in the Olympics cos that is for sure a better opportunity for this shop window thingy where actual competitive games are played with scouts potentially in the stands, rather than friendliest and preseason 5 v 5 matches, don’t you think?

IMO, Klopp wants to see if Taki can do the business in preseason to gauge his firm and allow him the chance to make his case. That doesn’t mean he won’t be sold or will be kept. I think Klopp just wants to see him up close and personal and then judge for himself cos remember, Saints are ready to take Taki tmrw if we made him available.

{Ed0666's Note - I disagree mate on tne shop window thing. I’d say west ham wanted him they could complete the deal in a few days, medical etcif he was with Liverpool if he was away millions of miles away there’s all sorts of Olympic protocol etc you have to abide by.

If it truly is self belief or similar, would the club or have other clubs with this problem, hire a ‘life coach’ ‘motivator’ type? I’m sure a Rugby team or International football team do this?
