Ed2 have we made a bid for Saul and did it include either Shaqiri or Henderson?

{Ed002's Note - Saul Niguez (CM) Nobody will pay his release clause, but Atletico could look to a very high fee for a player who has a contract that runs for years in order to get his €300k weekly wage off the books. Bayern Munich's first choice to add for midfield and his agent has spoken with several sides as Atletico want to make very significant savings on salaries and could be forced into a corner by the player and his agent. But Bayern see his cash price at €60M (or €75M on terms) and wages of €300k as too high and will want to negotiate - they will almost certainly turn elsewhere. He is being offered to the usual suspects who have money – Barcelona (who would need to include players in a deal), Manchester United (who would need to offload Pogba), Juventus, Manchester City, PSG, Chelsea as a Kovacic replacement - many of which are looking to add a player in his position, but his wages are a major issue for most. Atletico have effectively signed his replacement in de Paul but may make other midfield changes as well. I am not aware of any bid from Liverpool to Atletico at this time, but he would be an excellent choice, but a lot more expensive than other options. Atletico have said that there has been a discussion with Barcelona. Atletico would prefer the cash to having any players involved in a deal. Other clubs could become involved if players are sold, Pogba for instance.}

ED002 - hope you are well this morning.

Can I ask - do you happen to know if Saul Niguez is prepared to take pay cut on his €300k a week wages or is he happy to stay at AM and run his contract down, until a club agrees to match, or get somewhere near his current deal?

Also, you recently stated his release clause is €150M but nobody is prepared to match it but AM would consider a high fee for him - do you know how much AM would accept?

Regards,

Kemlyn.

{Ed002's Note - His contract has five years to run so he won't be running it down. It has been mentioned to another club that €75M would be enough.}

That would put the price to circa £65million. If that's the price they're expecting then this move is almost certainly not happening. Especially if Bissouma would be cheaper and supposedly we would struggle to afford that also.

Thanks ED002 - those figures still seem way out of our league unless the club make an unexpected sale I guess

Kemlyn.

I would fancy Eduards getting that 75m euro down a little bit more. If we went for him anyway. I think unless we manage to have a good clear out of players and get good money for them there is no chance we are affording that. Kieta for example, but who’s paying good money for him or any other of our fringe players let’s be honest, we are not the only club out there who’s skint, nobody’s got the money to take punts on our reserves.
