Morning Ed's
If wijnaldum isn't willing to sign a contract do you think there is any possibility we would look to maybe try and sell him for some fee this month and possibly the money could be used for stop gap cb?
Would allow hendo back into midfield and with Thiago and ox coming back I would say we are more urgently in need of a cb than gini for the rest of the season.

{Ed002's Note - No there are no plans to sell Wijnaldum this month and nobody would be interested in buying him when he can sign a pre-contract to move overseas. His representatives say that Liverpool have not offered a suitable contract to him and he will leave if a new contract is not agreed. He has been offered to Barcelona again but Barcelona are dealing with other priorities (the election) at present but could still be interested in the player as a Free Agent. Inter Milan have asked his agent for an idea of what he would be asking - but he is not there first choice, although being a Free Agent makes him attractive to them.

Gini is off, good luck to him and thanks for the service!

Give him the 4 year contract and then could sell him after 3 years and get some money back.

Have we offered him a good deal and he is been greedy or just wants a move or are we been cheap.

{Ed002's Note - He has not yet been offered a suitable deal.}

By suitable you mean the length of contract or what's the issue? I think it's very important that we keep him and would be happy to see him stay a few more years. We need to keep a core of quality senior players like him, he's basically 4th captain as Klopp has said and by all his teammates accounts is a great personality to have in and around the squad.

{Ed002's Note - He will have expectations in terms of the financial package (which I am sure will not be excessive) and in terms of the length of the contract - and Liverpool know what those expectations are - so it is up to them to offer something acceptable. To date they only seem to have dragged the matter out. Unless they plan on using Grujic to replace him they would likely need to buy a replacement and that won't be easy with money being tight.}

I think given his ability, awareness, fitness levels and consistency it would be foolish not to offer him the deal he’s asking for, I’m struggling to think of another top class midfielder who can walk in and replicate what he brings.
